Not a Philly cheesesteak! It was very dry and tasteless chopped chicken, no grilled chicken or onions or peppers, no cheese. Tons of mayo and lettuce and tomato. Don't know about the other food but I wouldn't recommend this based on this sandwich. An expensive warm very mediocre chicken salad sandwich. A couple of hours later I started feeling nauseated. read more

Grace is the owner of this gem of a sandwich shop located in Magnolia and she's been slinging sammies for the better part of a long long time. The Bada Bing is my goto sandwich, but you know what's even better? ... Being recognized the moment you walk in the door. As a small business owner, I admire the work ethic and commitment to community people like Grace add to the neighborhood. Support small, people. What a great little family sandwich shop! My partner and I were looking for a quick lunch spot, and Blue Heron was perfect. He got the french dip, and he loved it. The au jus that the sandwich came with was super flavorful, and the bread was super soft. I got the TBAS (turkey, bacon, avocado, swiss), and I loved it. The bread toasted just the right amount so it was toasted but didn't cut up the top of my mouth, and they let you pick the type of bread and whether you want tomato and lettuce. All of the staff were so sweet. Some obnoxious karen came in and picked up her sandwich and told them to remake it because it wasn't toasted. For the record, the sandwich she ordered is a cold sandwich but she was like I don't care my son wants it toasted (eyeroll). The staff were super nice and accommodating to her even when they didn't need to be, which is just a testament to how great they are. read more

This place is the best, I can't believe I haven't reviewed it sooner! The sandwiches and food are very delicious, you really can't go wrong with any choice. My favorites are the BLTA or TBAS though, so good! The people that work there are also extremely friendly and provide A+ service. There's also a drive through takeout window which is pretty nifty! I definitely recommend checking the place out. read more

I'm a local & Can honestly say that Blue Heron has awesome customer service, good food & a great staff. Their sandwiches are great. If you're driving through for lunch or around the area it's a great pit stop if you're not looking to spend a lot of money on a meal. I personally get their breakfast sandwiches at least 3x a month. My wife gets breakfast and their lunch sandwiches often. Worth giving a shot. They also have outdoor seating! Nice that my dog gets to come along. The ladies will always come out from behind the counter to give him a treat. They are always so nice to my dog. I don't have a picture but the photos on line are pretty accurate. Enjoy! read more

Cute and quaint cafe at the corner of the block. It appears to be a family-run business. They are very welcoming and efficient in their service. The menu is fairly simple - mostly sandwiches - with lots of little snacks like cookies, chips, and bottled drinks. Portion sizes are substantial. The TBAS (turkey, bacon, avocado and Swiss) is a warm and gooey sandwich with a bit of a crunch. Perfect for a chilly, rainy day. read more

If you drive, ride or walk past this place--STOP. The Blue Heron is undeniably delicious. I've only gotten orders to go, but the car ride is unbearable because it smells so good. I've never been one to eat sandwiches, but my hubby loves them. His go to order is the Bada Bing, whereas I get their T.B.A.S. on sourdough bread. Served hot and ready in minutes, this is a one stop type of shop. They have a drive thru window but that's for coffee. The family that owns this place are the friendliest and provide quick service. There's ample seating inside to enjoy your meal or coffee. Parking lot has a few spots, but not hard to find street parking. Probably the best hidden gem I've found in a while. A little spot that I pass everyday in Magnolia neighborhood. Photos of the inside don't do it justice. It's super cozy and staff is friendly as can be. - I got the Philly Cheesesteak sandwich. - Paired with a large Vanilla Latte. It was overpacked with flavor, possibly hints of teriyaki. Not what I expected, but it tasted pretty good. I love that the coffee came with a ginger cookie. TBH, I'm coming here at least once a week! read more

Great sandwich shop for a workday. Seating is limited inside, but you cannot find the quality of sandwich at the price point they offer anywhere else nearby. If you are looking for a Sandwich shop where you can sit down with more than one other person I may suggest grabbing your meal to go due to the limited sitting area. read more

My sis and I decided to stop by this sandwich shop for a quick bite to eat and ordered the BLTA, tuna melt, and French dip with au jus all on sourdough bread. The bread was toasted to perfection and all of the sandwiches were super tasty. Im not much of a sandwich person... but these were really good! I would say my favorite was the BLTA. When people say support small business's - this is the business they mean. Excellent service and excellent lunch food, if I'm having a bad day and just want something SUPER comforting it's always my choice. The only downfall is that they're not open during weekends. But outside of that 10/10 recommend. Not only this, but recently I saw the owners son bring a warm sandwich out to a homeless man on the corner. This is 100% the empathy we need to see today, and I'll be glad to support this business till I no longer live in the area. read more

Great quick and friendly service . They have a variety of food items on the menu for a good price and some sandwiches are made fresh upon ordering ! There's an indoor sitting area for working or reading and even board games like chess if you get bored of the internet. It is kid friendly and a cute neighborhood cafe to visit . Located near the water, Blue Heron is a small but warm family run sandwhich shop. The service is a 10/10 and the workers are all smiles. The rice was offered as a substitute because they were out of potatoes, and I have absolutely no issue with a substitution--especially in an airport. But when you're paying $120+ for a meal, the sides should still be properly prepared. One other thing to keep in mind if you're traveling: we had our carry-on and personal bags with us. We were asked not to place our belongings on the nearby tables. We noticed that guests seated at some of the surrounding tables were able to use nearby tables and high chairs for their belongings, so the policy felt a little inconsistent from where we were sitting. Overall, our review reflects our experience, which unfortunately left us disappointed and feeling like the meal didn't live up to the hype we had seen online. The fish was good, the starter was good, Dan enjoyed his entrée, and the service itself wasn't the overall main issue. It was primarily the quality of my sides and the overall value that left us feeling let down. That said, maybe it was simply a bad day for them. Not sure if this runs all the time, but when we were there, the tvs were playing vintage beer ads, which was quite fun. They also sell some pretty good t-shirt designs. After work, it's worth stopping by to buy some sandwiches there. I felt so energized after I tried the powerful taste of Bada Bing Supreme. The spices enrich the savory taste of the meats, so good.
