The service is a two out of five our server was nice but she took a long time to do everything we had a reservation for 730 we immediately got seated waited a little bit then she came to the table got us our drinks we ordered a little bit after that we had to wait at least 45 minutes before our food came and then when it came, my mom's food was cold everyone else's food was warm, but it didn't feel like They were back there cooking it like it just came out of the grill or out of the oven it's almost like it's only two microwaves back there and everybody is standing in line waiting to heat up their tables food we immediately let the server know, and another woman that was very nice. Came out and tried to give us more options to fix my moms cold meal she was very disappointed and chose something else. The woman gave us other options, but if they were to cook it, it'd be another 15 minutes, which doesn't make any sense because all the food that's coming out doesn't even seem like it just was cooked fresh but anyway we all finished eating and we were still waiting for our server. They really were no check ups on the table. at times, we wouldn't even see her walking around. She would just kind of disappear. My mom had originally ordered a three course meal that came with a dessert And we ordered another one for somebody else at our table . She said that she put the dessert in. We were waiting another 15+ minutes for the dessert to come out and we were already very irritated by then. We asked her when the dessert was ready She was like I don't know. I've heard of KISS many years ago but this was my first time visiting. My friend reserved the "speakeasy" private room and it did NOT disappoint!!! Came here for New Year's eve. I've been here before and wasn't that impressed then so I was hoping for better... It's honestly always a red flag when they have a time limit for dining... it's speaks to the focus of the restaurant which is not customer service. Very nice and great decor here at Kiss. Great and kind service. Our server was so nice and helpful with our order. It was served within a great time and taste so delicious. I got oxtail, collared greens and grits and it was all just the way I like my food. Tender and flavored oxtail, perfect texture of grits. My friend got waffle and chicken and my other friend got fried fish and grits, it was all so good they ate it all. At first I was a bit disappointed with receipt it had food taxes, taxes and gratuity. It was only 3 of us so I didn't expect the gratuity to be added and not sure why there were multiple taxes added. However I got over it due to our amazing server. As we were taking pictures and leaving I told him thanks for nice service for my friend birthday he immediately said he didn't know it was her birthday and he happily said stay here sit back at the table. Last night I went with a girlfriend for some drinks, and everything was going well until I stepped outside to my car and came back in. I had a quick question for one of the hostesses, and the experience completely shifted. One hostess, who was very sweet and professional, was great. But another hostess was extremely rude and disrespectful. I tried to ask her a simple question, and instead of acknowledging me, she kept walking, looked me up and down, and made me feel completely dismissed. It ruined the vibe of the evening and left such a bad impression that I didn't even want to interact with her again when I came back inside. She was short, had pigtails at the front of her hair and wore glasses. She was also on her phone when we originally walked in and didn't even greet us (cameras can prove this) The bar service was great, the drinks were on point, and the food (as always) was good, but service at the front door matters just as much. I can only attest to the lobster Ravioli, and the word from the ladies that their food wasn't nothing to write home to moms about. The lobster Ravioli was all cheese and very small amount of lobster. We did make a reservation but it wasn't really necessary. We came on a Tuesday and it was empty though not necessarily a good or bad thing for a weekday. I feel like this is a perfect vibe brunch with minimal stress and good food. I've heard that years ago it used to be super packed but now it isn't so much like that but I feel like that's a good thing because anytime you wanna come for brunch you can always get a table. It's always a good time to have dinner with your girls. We went to Kiss for dinner. We were seated pretty quickly but it did take a bit to start our orders. The restaurant was really dark in certain parts of the lounge area so it was a little hard to see. I started off with the espresso martini. It was definitely a little sweet for my liking but it was definitely heavy on the tequila just like I like it. I started off with the crab beignets. They came out pretty quick and they were good but they were lukewarm and I wished they were fresh. For my entree I ordered the fried chicken that came with two sides: Mac and cheese and greens with a side of corn bread. The portion was definitely big enough to be shared with someone. The chicken was good. Fried and seasoned to perfection! The Mac and cheese was just as good as well as the greens. The cornbread was ok I wised it was a tad bit sweeter. We ordered our food and I kid you not, it was brought out in about 10-15 min easily closer to 10. I was little concerned. Nonetheless, I ordered the Gulf Coast omelette. It was pretty tasty and I would recommend. My only gripe is that it had bits of braised short rib inside from a different order. It took about 30 minutes for the beignets to come out. I would rate them a 2 out of 5 because it tasted like they were fried in old burnt grease. We both had the oxtails, grits, and collard greens. The dress code for men are strictly enforced they say but the women can come in looking like they are ready for a intimate night at home with their significant other. I am so confused. I tried the HRW menu. I had the lobster balls which were ok. The surf and turf which I asked for medium rare and it came well. The turf was shrimp which was good. The strawberry cheesecake had cake and cheesecake and was dry. My friend and I both got one drink. Once they added all the taxes and automatic gratituty it came out to 189.00.. Our waitresses was nice so I didn't mind tipping her because I was going to do it anyway but I have been to several places where the service was trash. These type of places are not my cup of tea. There are a couple things I don't like that I will share right away. The two hour time limit for meals is a huge turn off especially if you have a decent sized group. Our waiter spoke in such a low tone we had no idea what he was saying most of the time. There's a stuffed chicken dish that is just okay. The chicken itself is not seasoned. The cream sauce is supposed to carry it. It doesn't in my opinion. The oxtails are fatty. More fat than meat. Flavor is there but quality of cut is not. Pros: there's a pork dish that is delicious. First time experience at KISS. This place has been on my bookmark for years. Ambiance is great the moment you walk in. Now the conversation I had with the server started great, then it was contradicting. I visit here for a friend's birthday. Which in conversation the minimum is $600. (Reserved Party of 8). But it physically was a party of 4. Birthday girl sign paper for it. She's cool with that, so great deal. I order an entree for to go, just prepare it prior to me leaving, however you can enter the meal selection now. Cassie return to the table announcing that the ticket has been closed when I asked her to confirm if she place my chicken ya ya order. She told me no and that she had to call the guy who left the table to ask him if he can add it. Or it will have to be a separate ticket. Full disclosure: First off the guy who was at the table was not authorized to apply anything to the card on file. Nor was he the person who signed the agreement for the party of 8 whom is the same individual who's responsible for the remaining of the balance. With her closing the ticket which was at UNDER $300 that's left us responsible for additional $300 to satisfy the $600 invoice. Cassie we had a full conversation about the minimum that's required regardless of the size of the party or small of orders. So you were fully aware that we were going to order meals for take out. Instead this clown took it upon herself to close out a tab on HER TIME. 2 hours before the kitchen close and charge us $600 for a $300 tab Cassie also made it seem as if she was doing us a favor by adding the to go order on as a comp. Which was the $34 ya ya that in place BEFORE Cassie closed our tab. Yet she missed all the other entrees, sides, and drinks. The invoice shows the time AFTER the adjustment she made. Saying she had to confirm with a stranger who was not even part of the party nor a staff member, neither was his card on file. Cassie let it be known that payment of $600 was going to be collected regardless of the size of orders. She put our to go orders in that we are charged for. They definitely need to make this right. Because it seems as if Cassie left herself a $380 tip. Cassie definitely couldn't explain where tf the money went to after she close out a tab that NO ONE ASK HER TO DO. Was it kismet going to Saturday brunch at Kiss? Quite possibly! Our group of 4 made a reservation for Saturday brunch at 11:30AM. We were seated at a high table near the back of the restaurant, close to the DJ booth. Yes - a DJ booth for brunch! Kiss is located in Sawyer Yards, so there is plenty of parking available, which was a nice treat. They had valet spots marked off, but I think they are used for later in the evening versus brunch. There is a large ramp when you walk in (ADA compliant from what I could see) and you are welcomed with a red carpet - so fun! The indoor decor was also in theme; I especially loved the neon signs! Some of us ordered cocktails and some ordered mocktails. All were delicious! The best deal was the mimosa carafe for $20ish. They have a plethora of flavors you can add to your mocktails and mimosa; we had blueberry mocktail, a lavender mocktail, and blueberry mimosas. But the food. Wow! Everything was tasty and the portions were plentiful. I ordered the catfish and grits; they come with a side of hot sauce. I'm glad it came on the side because it could have overpowered the dish if served in tandem. The fish was thick and had a great crust, which was delicious served over those cheesy grits. As an app, we ordered the crab beignets and were solidly impressed with how much crab was in those bad boys; they did not skimp! My only feedback would be that the music got loud for us considering where we were seated. If we were seated a little farther from the DJ booth, it would have been more enjoyable for our party. Came here last night for their dinner and movie. The concept is pretty cool. Ambiance was cute inside. We couple got a container of popcorn, first one is complimentary then it is $5/refill. Now each person does NOT get their own popcorn, each couple shares one. There is the regular menu that you can order from, but they also have the $55 couples menu three course meal. It comes with one appetizer, two entrée and one dessert me and my partner got the Boudin egg rolls for the appetizer we've both got the salmon as entrée since I am lactose intolerant. The only thing I can get on the dessert menu was the strawberry cornbread. Overall, food was mediocre. The egg roll rate as six out of 10 and the salmon was a six or seven out of 10 just because it really had no seasoning or flavored other than that sauce that came on top of the salmon now the dessert was not good at all. The cornbread part was dry, very dry and all they did was drench the cornbread with like a strawberry parade or strawberry syrup, I probably would not come back for the food maybe drinks. At the end, the couples that did the $55 3 course meal got a glass of champagne at the end. Everyone in our party, had different items on the menu, and they all said food was fair, especially the oxtail. If you're looking for good food, I probably wouldn't come here. read more
