Loved everything we tried, especially the Catfish & Grits. The salmon tacos coulda used a nice sauce or something, otherwise they were Ok. Drinks, Service and Cleanliness was 9.5/10. It was my first time visiting this Sunday for brunch with some friends. So many people had spoken highly of this place but this experience left me and both of my friends not ever wanting to go back. We got there and were seated in a lounge which was fine but the seats were very low. We moved and after about 10mins our server came over to us. There was no introduction, no greeting or anything which is why I can't even give her name for this review. We ordered our drinks, my pear lady was really good and my friend ordered a peach Bellini which arrived to her room temperature. That is unacceptable for a $16 drink. We were already waiting over 25mins for her to get our food ordered. I ordered the chicken fried chicken and french toast. The food was good but the gravy was really salty and made it hard to eat. The chicken and potatoes were very well seasoned. After we flagged down another server to get our server since she was no where to be found after our initial food order, did not even check on us until we asked someone to get her. When she came, she just took the food plate and asked if we wanted it remade. We said no and ordered the fajita tacos and asked for the aioli on the side in case it was salty. After our server left and came back with the tacos, the aioli was still on it. We sent it back because we were just frustrated with everything already. When we were checking out with her, she failed to mention that 20% gratuity was already included. So both me and my friend double tipped her before asking for our receipt and our other friend was going to cash app her on top of double tipping her. I want to preface this by saying, all 3 of us work in the service industry and this visit left us with such a sour taste in our mouth. We are not needy or demanding because we understand the industry. But this level of service was horrible. I will never come back here especially after being conned into double tipping for lackluster service. My advice to anyone who comes here, be aware that you will receive slow service, won't get greeted, food is good but the servers don't care about your experience because they are adding gratuity to your tab so they feel like they can treat you any kind of way. read more

We had a reservation for Sunday Brunch and were seated in the back lounge which was discreet, dimly lit that felt relaxed and intimate. What should've been the perfect setting to unwind and catch up took an unexpected turn. The TV was playing 60 Minutes, featuring Saddam Hussein which made it completely difficult to enjoy the vibe. Considering how much effort was put in the front of house with Live DJ performing, the lounge felt like it was missing the entertainment aspect. The restaurant was clearly busy, and there were moments service was extremely slow. But our server truly did his best to take care of us. We mentioned we were unhappy with a carafe we had ordered, and he kindly comped and replaced it with another one without hesitation. By the end of our meal, we were ready to wrap things up and overlooked as our server had been attentive and accommodating. We quickly tapped out cards only to realize we had been overcharged by $60. Stopped by the Honey Hole for a little brunch while celebrating my birthday! The ambiance is pleasant; the tables are small. Our server was pleasant and helped us make selections. We started with funnel cake fries because why not, It's funnel cake! It came with a dipping sauce, more like a glaze! I recommend this one. Oh yeah, the coffee was quite good too. For my meal, I had the lobster and grits. The lobster was lightly fried. This dish came with three shrimp. And "the grits" were pretty good, Creamy and tasty, just savory enough! I've been here several times now, and my general consensus is that the food is good but can feel overpriced depending on what you order. It can also get pretty loud, especially when there's a DJ during brunch. Service is hit or miss, but my most recent experience was really positive. Our server was super friendly and helpful. Stuffed French Toast: 9/10 I only had a few bites, but I really enjoyed it. The cinnamon flavor was on point, and the consistency was perfect, fluffy without being soggy. The only reason it's not a 10 is because I'm not a huge fan of white chocolate. Catfish and Grits: 9/10 The crawfish étouffée sauce is really delicious, but without it the dish would be pretty bland. That said, the catfish itself is filling and very crispy. It's not the best I've had in Houston, but it's definitely tasty. Drinks: 10/10 The Peach Bellini is super fresh and absolutely delicious. I could drink an infinite amount of these. It is definitely on the sweeter side if that's not your thing. The blueberry margarita is also really good. This is 100% a girly brunch drink spot, so expect to leave feeling it. When the DJ is playing, the music is loud af, and with how packed it gets, it can be hard to hear the people next to you. I came here with my brunch ladies to celebrate a birthday. We made reservations online, but there wasn't a wait when we arrived. I wasn't too sure about this place based on the reviews, but this has been in our list. The crowds started rolling in around 10:30-11ish. The atmosphere was chic. I was a little skeptical about the chairs since I'm a thicker person, but they were actually very comfortable and I didn't have any issues. Our waiter was amazing. I wish I remembered his name. The mimosas were stronger than I expected, 2 had me feeling nice. I ordered the Cajun Breakfast Bowl, which had a nice little kick. The eggs were cooked over medium, and if you like a runny yolk, that's definitely the way to go. The etouffee was perfect and really helped soak up the golden potatoes. My girls ordered the Hivewhich and the Pork Chop & Eggs. I wish I had snapped a picture. The pork chop was a pretty big portion and also had a kick. I read the negative reviews prior to coming which made me nervous to try, but I went anyway. A former coordinator/friend I worked with suggested this place for brunch, so I made a reservation for noon on a Saturday. The location is near the galleria by where the second Gallery Furniture used to be. There's a large, open parking lot that gets packed. Walking in, there's a hostess stand around the corner to the left. We were seated at a small table for two near the bar. There were a lot of people dining at the bar and the main dining area. I always look at the menu before coming, so I knew what I wanted to order. Some of the appetizers aren't available on the weekends, and it's noted on the menu. The bad part is that the cocktails are labeled as mocktails, which none of them are or can be made into one. I accidentally ordered a gin cocktail, but I switched it out with a pineapple mocktail which was basically pineapple and club soda. They do have a variety of fruit flavors, but that's the gist of their mocktails. I really wanted coffee, but their espresso machine was broken that day. My friend and I shared the funnel cake fries which took a while but was served hot and fresh with a side of glazed dipping sauce. It was a larger portion than I expected and was so good, but I restrained myself because I ordered the honey crunch French toast croissant. I really enjoyed the croissant version of French toast. I'm more of a pancakes and waffles girl, but this was one of the best French toasts I've had. It was a cross between Cinnamon Toast Crunch and Special K cereal with the clusters. The house made whip helped cut the sweetness of the honey. We shared the salmon tacos, which I normally don't gravitate towards fish, but I liked it. The flavor was good with the mardi gras slaw and honey chipotle aioli. The flour tortillas were too thick though. It would've been nice to have an option for corn tortillas. Overall, I thought this place was ok. I liked what I ordered. There's not much variety in drink options, the food takes a while to come out, it's kind of overpriced, and it's really loud inside. I had to yell talk to talk to my friend sitting across from me. Expect to come dressed to the nines here. The atmosphere/clientele reminds me of FRNDS in Rice Village but more open with sunlight. I was worried about reviews regarding the billing, but they didn't charge us the 18% that's meant for tickets $125 or more. Others experienced being billed gratuity under this amount. At your own risk when you dine here, I guess! They do charge a fee for using a credit card. I saw 1.95% on our bill which wasn't much, but the restaurant could cover those fees. Would I come back? Stopped by for brunch and I got the stuffed French toast, which was delicious and plated very nicely. I also got a side of potatoes, which were very underwhelming and not worth the $6 at all. We also got mimosas and to our surprise they give you some kind of flavored syrup to mix your champagne with instead of standard juice. I was not a fan of that because you couldn't taste the flavor at all. It pretty much just colored the drink and that was it. The service overall was just okay, nothing to rave about. I love checking out bathrooms in restaurants, and this one was in disgusting condition. A lot of the stalls weren't flushed, toilet paper on the floor, and puddles of water all on the sink counter. Such a beautiful restaurant. Great color scheme and good natural lighting. I have been here on multiple occasions and it has its ups and downs. I usually stick to the same menu item so I will say that I have never had an issue with the chicken fried chicken and grits. It's full of flavor always comes out hot and fresh and gravy is delicious. Grits are hands down some of the best in HTX. My last experience I had here my friend ordered the Cajun breakfast bowl which he stated was delicious. He felt he had a good balance in the entree. My sister however had a different experience. She ordered the honey lemon pepper wings. Although she liked the flavor the size of the wings were tiny. She has ordered them before and wasn't disappointed. Idk if they have changed food vendors but the wings were so small they barely had any meat on them. I had seen The Honey Hole pop up several times on my social media timelines, so when my friends and I were deciding on a spot for New Year's brunch, we decided to give it a try. Making a reservation was easy, and even though we arrived a little later than planned, we were still seated, which I appreciated. One thing to note, though: the reservation booking site doesn't clarify that selecting the Lounge area means you'll be seated on low couches. Once the hostess explained this, I asked if we could move to the dining room, and she kindly accommodated us--even though the restaurant was pretty busy at the time. Because it was the holiday, we anticipated potential delays in service. Unfortunately, our waitress didn't help ease that experience. She seemed disengaged, was short with us throughout the visit, and rarely checked on us while we waited between receiving our drinks and food. The food itself was pretty good, and the portion sizes were solid. That said, I do agree with others who feel it can be a bit overpriced depending on the dish. We ordered a mimosa carafe, which came with the champagne bottle and juice on the side--something we prefer and enjoyed. However, my boyfriend and I also ordered Sprites, and when they arrived, they were warm with only a few melted ice cubes, which felt like an attempt to cool them down rather than serve them cold. It seemed like the lounge area had a DJ or music playing, and while we could hear it faintly from the dining room, it wasn't distracting. I might consider coming back to check out the lounge during a happy hour, but I'm in no rush to return. I can't believe this place has a 3.6 overall rating. We loved everything about this place! It's in the Galleria area close to Post Oak but parking is readily available in a very large lot. We placed a reservation and were promptly greeted upon check in. The restaurant is lively, bright and airy. Popped by the restroom and found them to be in immaculate condition. Our server was wonderful. She was prompt, attentive, and gave us great recommendations! We ordered a carafe of mimosas (blood orange and pineapple juice combo). If you plan to have more than a couple of glasses, the carafe is the way to go. Now onto the main event, the food. Mom had funnel cake with wings, my husband had funnel cake with 2 wings and catfish and I had the breakfast bowl. Every entree was phenomenal! Beautiful presentation and when I tell you the food was seasoned to the nines absolutely delicious. As you would expect the funnel cake was nice and crispy and sweet which really balanced out the savoriness of the wings. The catfish was perfectly fried. The breakfast bowl was out of sight! Crispy potatoes covered with crawfish etouffee and chorizo sausage. I had my eggs scrambled but it comes with an over medium. We love this place so much we ate here twice during our stay. Second visit (1yr apart) Dined in for their infamous brunch on Sunday. The hostess is super strict about table reservations so make sure your entire party is there ON TIME. Service was very fast considering how busy it is. Our drinks came out in record time. I highly recommend the my pear lady martini and the peach Bellini! I had to get the lobster etoufee again because it was that good. One of my friends who was there last time as well got her same order as well which was the fish and grits. The peach cobbler pancakes were also rated very high amongst the table. If you get the funnel cake and chicken I suggest ordering the items on a separate plate as the funnel cake did get soggy before hitting the table. The DJ was a nice addition. The only issue was when it came to checking out. Our server asked how we wanted to split the bill ok no problem there. After about 15 mins he finally returned but with no checks. He asked again and we waited patiently. After another 20 mins of us looking around for him confused, another employee asked if we needed help. Located in what I am pretty sure used to be Kenny & Ziggy's, the inside is light and open. Cute decor. And sadly where the 'pros' here stop. Full disclosure, didn't get food. Sunday mid-morning, totally get we didn't have reservations, however plenty of tables were open and we were in-between those standard res times. All the same, totally understand if there wasn't space Hostess asked us to step aside (no issue, did as she asked), didn't indicate a wait time, take our name or anything. And then other groups come in and another hostess appears, and then I see a waitlist through the glass (the hostess station is oddly positioned around the corner in the entrance, but there is glass) that folks after us are getting added to. I don't remember how long we stood in the entry way - but it was long enough to see 3 different parties seated, and same three parties get up and leave due to no server. We cut our losses and left, hostess 1 never looked back our direction when asking us to step aside. We're generally cool to wait, but come on, at least communicate. Seems really poorly coordinated and managed - especially if you have multiple tables leaving because no one came by with menus or to grab drinks, even if you've got an absent server (and bear in mind, this place wasn't packed). Not really looking to give this another chance, other reviews mention much less than stellar reviews on food quality and the $$$. We ended up at Adair Kitchen, and probs would have done North if we hadn't recently been, but we were trying to switch it up. read more

Didn't add much value to our experience and we had to wave her over any time we needed anything. Don't go expecting good service. The worst part - and why I'm even writing a review in the first place is that our tab was around $70, but we were charged twice without being informed. The server ran our card for a $200+ tab AND for our $70 tab. She didn't say anything and those charges sat on our account for days before the incorrect one was removed. We didn't know until we checked our account after leaving the restaurant. I didn't call and make a fuss because I have no intention of returning & I don't want a gift card or an apology. Staff should be trained to disclose important information to guests regarding a mistake like this. The food wasn't bad and it's disappointing how a bad experience detracts from decent food. Service was okay it took awhile for us to get waters, silverware, extra plates, etc. That wasn't too big of a deal though because they were still nice. Yesterday, my sister & I tried this restaurant for the first time because it was close to my restaurant. This is my first visit to Houston and she just relocated here. The food was absolutely delicious. Great portion sizes that left enough for a second breakfast. The restaurant has a whimsical and relaxing atmosphere. The servers appeared to be a little overwhelmed at times but managed as best as they could. All in all, I would recommend this spot and remind everyone to make a reservation to ensure you get a decent seat. We had to request a better seat because we were a walk-in. read more

A sister friend and I visited The Honey Hole, Saturday Feb. 21, 2026 for the first time. When we arrived at 1210 for our 1215 reservation, there was a line out the door with patrons waiting. Therefore, I echo the recommendations to make reservations. With reservations, we were seated upon arrival. Chloe was our waitress and she was personable, attentive, knowledgeable and kind. Food: I had the Hivewich (a grilled chicken sandwich on a croissant roll) with fries and my friend had the fried catfish and grits. We both enjoyed our dishes. Beverage: Peach sidecar made with Remy - excellent Atmosphere: Live DJ, the music was not too loud allowing for table conversation. One star deducted for the 'fried food' scent in the restaurant. The food was great, but the service and staff response were poor. I was charged an automatic 18% gratuity even though the menu says it only applies to bills over $125, and my bill was under that amount (even with tax and surcharge). The disclosure about gratuity is buried in the smallest font at the bottom of the menu, and I was completely unaware of any policy until afterward. The waitress claimed it applied at $75, and when I felt my bill was too high and asked for a printed receipt, she didn't want to give me one at first. Only then did I see the gratuity had been added. The tip screen was also misleading, it didn't show that gratuity was already included, and because of that I accidentally tipped again. The manager did take the second tip off, but he did it with an attitude and told me I should have known their policy instead of acknowledging the mistake. Food: Lobster & Grits (super savory; also included 3 shrimps; mild/ moderate spice had a slight kick; happy it wasn't a block of grits like some other brunch places), got to try some of the Chicken Fried Chicken (pretty good, chicken was seasoned well) Within an hour of dining here, it got packed very fast. Folks were waiting to seated and the line was through the door at one point. Be aware of the bill total. 18% tip is automatically included regardless of party size. There was also a 1.5% credit card fee, which was surprising since not many restaurants do this. I've eaten majority of the menu and nothing is bad. i stopped in for sunday brunch with my sister. i HIGHLY recommend making a reservation or knowing how to maneuver to the bar to grab some seats to eat there. service: our server was very accommodating and anticipated all of our needed. he made sure our water stayed full and our table was always kept clean for the next course. even with a little snafu at the other table he still kept his composure. the dj was playing a nice sunday mix of 90s r&b. food: 10/10!! we started with the funnel fries which were nicely golden brown and a good crunch. i had the wings and biscuits with a side of red beans and rice and my sister has the lobster and grits. the chicken was fried and seasoned nicely. the biscuits and butter omgggg!! the highlight was the lobster and grits. i wanted to pack up my sisters plate and go home and eat in a comfortable space lol. the lobster was soooo buttery and paired with the creamy grits made it a chef's kiss.
