Customer service is at an all time low. I quit going to Kitanda because they are only focused on money but thought I would try again today. I ordered a hot tea with honey and went back to ask for more honey because I didn't taste any. I was told I would have to pay for honey from the person who took my order originally. I said I already paid for honey and she said yes I know. So, they are charging for additional added honey when there was no honey to taste. Now they give one bag of tea regardless of size ordered and charge for ore bags and anything added. Why is the owner and management of this coffee shop so concerned with their employee conversations, culture when they have little regard and very little attention to customer experience and satisfaction. Months ago, the district manager made sure to tell employees to not allow me to split my two bags of tea into two orders because I wasn't paying for the added honey. Seriously?!?!! We were in the area so I decided to grab some food for our kids. The place is pretty spacious and there was plenty of room for dine in. Service was ok. The people were nice but the knowledge of the cashier could be better. I asked what was in the avocado smoothie and he said "milk and avocado". So I asked what would make it sweet since that doesn't sound like it would be sweet at all, and he said that it's just those two ingredients. I ordered it and then I went to the self service kiosk and saw that it came with condensed milk as well... I ended up asking the lady to switch it to honey instead which they did. The smoothie was ok, it was a little too liquidy for it to be a smoothie in my opinion but my kids love it so it's all good. I also got some mini chicken cones and that was standard. For nearly a year, I have been coming to this Kitanda and have spent time (and money) practically every day. I have also been to the poorly managed Kirkland location, the old Starbuck's Alderwood location, the Southcenter store and the one in the converted Starbuck's location in Shoreline. Sadly, after today's surprise directive from the area manager after her son who works at this location told her that I choose to not have two tea bags at once and split them into two and she said I could no longer do that, so he informed me when I went to counter to get the second cup (not telling me when I ordered the first bag) and it has been something their staff said would be fine to begin with. Their tea price is the same for all sizes and they charge .75 for adding honey. No refills. Water must be really expensive! Ironically, her son didn't even charge me for the honey when I ordered the tea, but yet he wanted to ensure I couldn't get a second tea with the second bag any longer?!? So long Kitanda. Your policies and lack of excellence in customer service have finally taken their toll on me. I know it doesn't matter to the owner or area manager what I say, but this seems so petty and cheap. Ridiculous! Congrats on putting up a television on the product shelf that you fail to keep stocked. Now your staff can watch soccer and be more distracted! The ambiance is already loud - loud music mixed with the loud machines, customers talking loudly to hear over the music and staff yelling. Ordered an açaí and a Pao de Queijo through DoorDash. The açaí was a little too sweet for me, but it already exceeded the majority of the places which sells açaí in the states. Of course, it cannot compare with the ones I had in Brazil, but again, no complain for something that I could get in the states The cheese bread was definitely on the more salty side. To be fair when it was delivered it was already a little cold and hardened so I'd rather not comment on it as it would not be fair for the restaurant. Came in after ipic with family so we could grab a quick americano. Taking order was quick, but it went downhill after that. It was after 4pm on. Sat. Ambience was warm , and seating available, but dirty tabletops. There were 2 other people who ordered before us who were sitting and waiting for their orders. I should have taken this as a sign to leave and not wait around but oh well. The first person complained their bowl was incorrect then the lady after that-- I watched as a high school looking employee just made a mess at countertop adding whip cream to her drink as that was left off apparently. She had to then ask for another bigger cup to put it in, and clean it all up herself!! I was shocked he didn't offer! She had to go get napkins and clean it up off her hands and counter herself. This was the pickup counter- so Im sure there was a rag up there just for that. She seemed really annoyed. To make matters worse, the girl behind the counter was snickering with the guy, and it was just unprofessional. Seemed like it was a lemonade stand with middle schoolers. By that point we were 10 minutes in after ordering. Not exaggerating, and no one else is behind us. I hear what seems like a latte then being made. I look at my husband like thats not what we ordered- I was just annoyed to be waiting for that long and literally by that point at the 15 minute mark, I walked away with the kids and let him pick up the drink. He said they had to remake it cause they made a latte instead of americano. Total time wasted was over 20 minutes. My sister was craving an açai bowl so we decided to stop here before heading to Paint Away next door. She liked that she was able to customise her bowl and get strawberries and honey like she wanted. I'm not really an açai person, but her breakfast looked pretty delicious. I decided to get their Sausage and Cheese Kitanda Bread with the egg removed and it was pretty delicious, but way too oily and filling despite being so small. It's the kind of food that tastes good while you're eating it, but makes you feel like trash afterward. My sister got an iced soy milk vanilla latte and I got an iced oat milk mocha. The coffee here is delicious and I loved how balanced the mocha tasted. Not to mention this is the cheapest coffee we've had in a really long time so in terms of value, this place is amazing. When we walked in, another few people cut in front of us in like so my sister decided to use the screen in the corner to order. A lot of things that they had in stock were marked out of stock on the screen including a lot of their hot food so only my sister ordered on the screen. We found out afterward that the oat milk that was marked out of stock on the screen they had so it was frustrating that my sister got soy instead of what she normally gets. I feel like it's not difficult to update what's available on the screen to reflect what they have in the store and it's not like it was busy. We also had to wait a really long time for someone to take our order which was surprising because no one else was waiting. We loved that all their napkins and cutlery were compostable and then they had clearly labelled bins to separate trash. Their condiment bar was organised and stocked. The whole cafe as a whole was clean and it was easy for us to find a nice table to sit and enjoy our breakfast. Food is good. NOT The problem. I enjoy the options, it's clean, fresh, and often times the best choice considering the area. The service is close to 1 stars- but giving them 2 as a rated amount due to 1- 2 rare employees that's do a nice job (too bad I rarely see them working.) The customers feel rushed, not heard, and I often feel irritated with the lack of rules/ good communication. My orders are often slightly wrong, I hear/see them slamming things all over the place behind the counter, workers seem unhappy, and hardly ever let you get your rewards points in before they charge you. I love that hint of sweetened condensed milk. I also tried the Romeo and Juliet, the Chicken fajita/cheese and the chicken cone. I didn't realize that the Brazilian bread was gluten free (even though I made it before), this was so yummy with that perfect gooey chewy inner part. That Romeo and Juliet was amazing with the guava and n mozzarella. Everything was delicious. Sometimes you just need a caffeine pick-me-up in Redmond Town Center. I'm disappointed the Brazilian latte tasted no different than one I could get from Starbucks, not that I'm a supporter of the chain either. The condensed milk maybe adds some density to the drink, but essentially it was just milk with a splash of coffee. The rest of the drink menu is standard and if what I received was representative of other things, then consider me unimpressed. Kitanda Espresso & Acai has been a Sunday routine. After boxing, my boxing buddies and I grab coffee here and hang out for an hour or so. It's been a fun time, and it helps that there's solid coffee here to perk you up after hitting the bags. I'm a fan of the Kirkland location, so when I learned there was one in Redmond Town Center, a place I frequent since my boxing gym is located here, I was happy to have this as an option for a caffeine jolt or cheesy treat. It's been nice being able to come here on Sunday mornings when the place isn't too busy, with just a few patrons inside, or getting takeout. I usually just order a drip coffee, which is always solid. But when I want to splurge, I do like their famous cheese breads, which they have a variety of. My personal favorite cheese bread option is the Romeo and Juliet, which is a guava paste and mozzarella. The guava paste really seals the deal, adding a sweetness and slight tart flavor to it, with the cheese. But really, even if you get a simple cheese bread on its own, you won't be disappointed. They're that good! For something more filling, their acai bowls are awesome! Glad to have Kitanda in Redmond Town Center for a post-boxing hangout. Space isn't too large, but is enough space for a large group. There's also a couch here if you plan to lounge, which is easy to do here. read more

Their websites says this is "a cheesy Brazilian snack made from tapioca flour that is fluffy on the inside and satisfyingly crispy on the outside." Plus, it's gluten-free. I ordered a Nutella kitanda and a Doce de Leite (Brazilian caramel) kitanda. They were good and the taste and texture of the bread matched the website's description perfectly. The Brazilian Latte is absolutely delicious -- it's like a regular latte but with condensed milk, which makes it slightly more sweet and creamy. I love it! The sandwich was filling but still light, which I appreciated. The bread for the sandwich is naturally gluten free, which made it a bit more spongy than "typical" sandwich bread.
