The food and atmosphere are amazing. Only reason I'm not giving five stars is the damn app or whatever they encourage you to use. I'm pretty old, and tech savvy enough to do anything I need to do day to day...but I f'ing hate that way of ordering. I know there are many others who feel the same way. Love this menu, unlike anything in the area. The curry (returning in the fall) is to die for! My husband and I frequent this location, the team is thoughtful and enthusiastic, the restaurant is clean with a beautiful aesthetic, and the food is flavorful! First time here at Kitava. The first surprise was the corner location with high ceilings and windows on two sides of the seating area. It was so light and bright it felt like I was eating outside. The next surprising thing was the cheerful and friendly hostess that walked me through the ordering process and the favorites on the menu. Only a few minutes had passed before my sesame chicken bowl was brought to my table. Jasmine rice, crispy chicken with cassava flour breading, charred broccoli, sesame togarashi, scallions and ginger ponzu sauce. Now that I know healthy food can taste this good, I'm coming back here again, probably for dinner tonight with my wife and try the sweet plantain bowl or the evolved caesar salad. The service folks are really smiley which I thought was a little weird at first, but I get it. If I worked here and ate this food I'd probably be really happy too! read more

Super yummy and healthy. I usually get the power bowl or Cuban bowl and both are so good. My kids love the nuggets and sweet potatoes too.

I have enjoyed everything on their menu! The plantains are my favorite. Gluten free, comforting and absolutely delicious!

Perfect neighborhood healthy casual lunch spot that isn't so cost prohibitive! The staff is very sweet and cute. The food is tasty and great for vegans and other high maintenance diet people hehe. We ordered Kitava through Caviar. Look out for the customer support number they have listed for delivery in the broader Bay Area outside San Francisco -- it's a little confusing because it's listed as if it's an item on the menu. Solid, healthy food options. The food is generally low fat and I frankly might want to put some butter on it next time to make it taste better! But that's just me! The cassava (tapioca) coated chicken tastes like pleasant fried chicken and is egg free as well as gluten free. This was probably our favorite menu item. One order of brussels sprouts was a little undercooked, the other was good. None of the promised aioli in sight, which was okay with us but a little surprising. Broccoli was nice. Garlicky greens would be even better with fewer stems. Turmeric cauliflower "rice" is really fun because it tastes like couscous. Grilled chicken was moist and pleasant. The kale slaw was a little mayonnaisey tasting for me. Jasmine rice was nothing special but perfectly good. I liked the tahini dill sauce and my husband enjoyed the chimichurri. We tried the cuban bowl and I found the black beans underseasoned but enjoyed the plantains. We will definitely order from here again and I'll have my butter ready... read more

I've been a long time customer, but in the last few months have had several instances of the food being delivered to me with either missing items, or very small portions which not consistent with what they typically send or qualifying as a proper meal. I've tried several times to get in touch with a manager after the fact to let them know about the issue and left my number several times, no one has ever gotten back to me. read more

I ordered the Hoisin Chicken and Rice Dish for delivery. Last time I ordered it was excellent. This time some of the chicken pieces had bones in them and at the bottom of the dish was a sharp fruit stem that I almost swallowed.. So exciting to find a place where the food is not made with seed oils OR gluten OR soy, yet it's so delicious! We love the Plantain Bowl, the chicken nuggets, the burger, and the fish and chips. This is my second time eating at Kitava. The first time the food was great but my friend placed her order just minutes after mine yet it took 45min for her to get hers. After 30 something minutes I got someone's attention and we asked about her order and they said because the orders looked similar they chucked it as a duplicate and did not make it but interestingly enough they had delivered her beer but somehow didn't make her food?! Finally 45 min later she gets her food and there was no efforts in doing anything for us even though it was their mistake. Today I was there with my family and the food was extremely disappointing. My burger was so salty I couldn't even finish it. The burger patties were supposed to be medium but they were all over cooked and they were the size of a kids burger. The plantains were also not as great as the first time I had them. I don't mind paying 16$ for a burger but not for what I got. Overall really disappointed. read more

We got both beer and food, so actually I should be writing two review but I'm lazy. Drove by this way after our long weekend dog hike. It looked so inviting. Decided not to go right then, went home and did some errands. Then we came back with dog still in tow. The minute we checked in we got a table. One of the first things our waitress did was bring our dog a nice bowl of water. We didn't even have to ask for it. So thoughtful. Oswald ordered the fish and chips. He though the portions were on the small side, just two pieces of fish. Did say they were well cooked thought. I got the loaded fries. I'm vegetarian and my taste buds are twisted at this point. I've never had cashew cheese before and heard good things about it, but I just found it chalky. And the more I ate, the chalkier it got. Good thing I had beer. I thought the fries could have had more beans and onions. Overall flavor was good though. I liked both of my beers also. Apologies to my waitress for snapping at her when she was clearing plates and at the last minute I decided to eat Oswald's cole slaw from his plate that he had moved out to table edge. I have no manners when I'm drinking. Good service, good food, will be back hopefully for the brunch. Really appreciate a restaurant that tries to come up with food concepts beyond standard burgers. read more
