Came here for a 12 dollar poke bowl lunch special. It was a great deal for a good amount of food. I loved that adding avocado wasn't an additional charge as long as you included it in the five veggies.
Kitchen Aloha is pretty close to my apartment, so I stopped by in the afternoon to finally satisfy a loco moco craving I'd been having all week. This spot is family owned, and while they do have a few tables inside, most of the dining area is currently blocked off. It seems like they focus more on takeout, which worked out fine for me. Ordering was easy through their self-service kiosk, and my food was ready fairly quickly. I went with the loco moco. It was just okay for me--not bad, but probably not something I'd come back for. The portion size was decent for the price, and it came with rice, one beef patty, half a hot dog, and a couple slices of seasoned spam, all topped with a light teriyaki-style glaze. The spam was actually really tasty and seasoned well, which made me think their spam musubis are probably worth trying. The egg on top was cooked all the way through, and I wish there was an option to customize it to over easy or sunny side up. The gravy on the side didn't have much flavor, so I ended up skipping it, but the rice underneath was cooked nicely and not dry. While waiting, I noticed a lot of people ordering poke bowls and daily specials, which might be what they're more known for. The staff were super friendly and welcoming, which added to the overall positive experience. I'd come back to try something else next time, probably one of the specials or a musubi. Good spot for quick Hawaiian comfort food, especially if you live nearby.
I love when a tonkatsu place can fry the pork up with a crispy panko coating although it would be great if the pork cuts were a little thicker but at these prices and this location it's understandable. The flavors are on point and very familiar and would like to try the bbq options next time. It is a little sad to think of Philz where I used to look out the same window at the feet walking by but good to see another business in its place and to have a Japanese influenced place around this area. I'm still getting used to the touch panel so made a mistake and had to start all over but because it was before noon, there was no line to worry about. Thanks for the food and gochisousama deshita.
This Hawaiian Japanese spot really hit it out of the park for me. I like Japanese food, but honestly it can be expensive and a little fussy. Silly me. I should have checked out Kitchen Aloha sooner. It's a great place for a hearty lunch at a good price. There's not much ambiance tbh, though it's cute and clean. You can technically eat there I think? Basically you walk up, order and pay through a digital kiosk, and someone calls you to pick up your food from a counter. Maybe that's how they keep costs low. I got a highly customizable bento that included brown rice (no extra charge), an unagi and avocado roll, meaty pork baby back ribs on steamed veggies, a small salad, and a cup of miso soup for about $15. All delicious. This is a hard deal to beat for a substantial hot meal.

Service is pretty minimal--just order and dip--and there's not much in the way of ambiance, but it totally works for a casual lunch run. Not mad at it at all. Definitely coming back to try more
I pass by frequently and finally decided to give this place a try. It's a hole in the wall with a self-service tablet, visible menus, and limited seating. There was a special on the spicy ahi poke so I figured that's a great choice for a quick snack. It was deceitful and disappointing! The portion I ordered was a large and the only thing large about it was the container. For $2 more I could've ordered a poke bowl. I won't be going back based on this experience. The special was not a special, just false advertising.
This place is perfectly fine for a quick meal. Nothing I'd go out of my way for it. Their Poké bowls are OK don't get the salmon roll bowl get the Aji tuna bowl. They also have lots of spam musubi variations that are OK as well.
Cute hole in the wall spot for some Japanese, Hawaiian, and Asian fusion dishes. I intern nearby and am so lucky to have stumbled upon this place. I got the spicy tuna bowl today, and it was delicious and packed full with spicy ground tuna, rice, side salad with a yummy dressing, and a variety other toppings that I can't quite remember exactly but you can spot in a picture I included of the dish. I definitely am looking forward to trying their special seafood poke bowl for only $12.50. Honestly, any spot that has seafood and is below $20 is a steal for me, so if this is also right up your alley you know what to do and immediately give this place a try! You can also dine in as the spot is on the smaller side but the seating is cozy and the workers were kind and took their time in crafting a great meal!

4.5 rounded up. I like the spam musubi offerings and the handrolls. The pork tonkatsu is a bit greasy but I enjoy the mac salad. For some reason, the sushi doesn't sing as much to me. I tried one of the soups and it was crazy affordable, but now the price has jumped up a few dollars.
My coworker and I ate here yesterday for lunch together for the very first time. I agreed to come here because he had highly recommended it. I was surprised at how small and cozy it was in this restaurant. The server was very friendly and helpful when helping me in what to order. The pot of very hot tea was very nice. Although the size of the Beef Patty LocoMoco that I ordered was smaller than I expected, it was still satisfying, but the beef patty was a little over cooked. The macaroni salad was very soft and moist and the eggs were well prepared. My coworker enjoyed the Bento Box he ordered and we both liked the order of Fried Soft Shell Crab that we shared. If I come back here, I really want to try one of their Poke Bowls.
Ordered delivery via Uber Eats and enjoyed our meal: - Chicken teriyaki bowl (3.5/5): Not overly saucy which I like, chicken pieces were tasty not too dry, rice was decent. Wish it came with more veges - only 1 piece of small broccoli and two small slices of carrots. Overall smaller portion. See pic attached. - Chirashi bowl (3.5/5): Advertised as 10 pieces but only came with 8 pieces of fish (2x salmon, 2x tuna, 2x hamachi and 2x another white fish). Lettuce and everything else was ok, nothing mind blowing but wasn't terrible. Fish was ok quality, some of the white fish didn't taste great. - Unagi avo hand roll (5/5): Amazing, good portion of eel, would definitely get again. Next time I'd be inclined to just order a bunch of different hand rolls at $4-5 each.
Small shop close to Tenderloin. Food was okay. Hard for me to enjoy. Long wait and I was overcharged for their food. $2.5 isn't the end of the world but I wouldn't have ordered that dish if I knew. Tried to use ordering kiosk but wouldn't work. I think I will give them another chance, we all have off days.
Was at work and looking for a place with a reasonably priced lunch special and came across Kitchen Aloha. I'm surprised I've never noticed it because I go to the place Nextdoor. I walked in and they had different signage for lunch specials. I chose the Beef GyuDon over rice. $9.95. They had other options as well. You have to place your order at the kiosk. It was easy to navigate. You can also grab condiments while waiting. They have signage telling you to do so. Beef GyuDon: 8/10. It was cooked very well. Seasoned and tender. Just wish it had a little spice to it. Was kinda sweet. I added Sriracha and it made it a 10/10. I would definitely go back to try other items. It's a small but clean. If you're going too fast you may miss it. read more
Underwhelming poke in the Tenderloin. Based on the appearance of the bowl, I was expecting bright and fresh flavors, but looks are deceiving. I was disappointed to find the bowl very bland and flavorless. It felt dry. The only sauce was mixed with the salmon pieces and didn't really taste like anything. This left the rest of the bowl lacking flavor and having dry rice. It seems like they just threw in a bunch of random ingredients to take up space in the bowl. I mean, carrots and tortilla strips are definitely interesting choices for a poke bowl. The portion was relatively small for what you pay. The amount of avocado given was just sad. You also aren't able to make adjustments to add other things to the bowl - you're stuck with what is set in the description. For this spot being a very small hole in the wall, I thought I would be noticed and assisted quickly. I was the only person in there but had to wait an unreasonably long time to get my order. I placed the order online long before I walked to the restaurant during my lunch break. When I got there, I sat waiting for probably 10 or so minutes before someone even came out from the back to hand me my food. Maybe their other menu items are better, but I wouldn't recommend Kitchen Aloha for their poke bowls. read more

Nice little restaurant. My friends had an urge for some masubi. Found this place near city hall. Service was relatively quick. It was after the lunch rush and was able to sit easily. I had the tuna bowl and the spicy spam masubi. Both were tasty and cost less than $25. It definitely was just as good as most places I have gone to. I would come again but I would not make a special trip here. read more

Stopped by here for lunch on a rainy day after spending time at city hall. It's tiny with three or four tables but the food was great and filling. I got the ahi tuna bowl and the breakfast musibi and they did not disappoint. The spam in the musibi was sandwiched between the soft rice and had the right amount of savory sauce with each bite. The tuna bowl was huge! The portions to rice ratio was a good amount where I had more toppings than rice. If you want to dine in a small place with a few friends, this place will be your spot. read more
Wanted to plug this small business - they deserve to succeed! I've ordered from them via UberEats multiple times and they've never disappointed. I feel like they have a unique selection of Hawaiian/fusion that is hard to find anywhere else like saimin noodles, pepperoni spaghetti, and Cheetos spam musubi. I've ordered a variety of options from the menu and the food is always fresh and filling. Even the fried options like the katsu and musubi deliver well and remain crispy. I love their large hand rolls too. Overall their serving sizes are HUGE for how affordable everything is - almost unheard of in this city. One of my favorite things they have is the Potato Croquette musubi - basically the vegetarian alternative to spam musubi. My veg bf got to try this for the first time in his life - life-changing! read more
Always on the hunt for good Japanese/Hawaiian food. I passed this place many times and finally got a chance to try it. I got the Ton Katsu which had a great sauce to it. I have to try the sushi here next time. I give this kitchen another try, because Aloha means hello and goodbye. read more

Ordered through Postmates because I was craving Hawaiian food and they had a buy 1 get 1 deal for the katsu and chicken teriyaki meals! You can really taste the quality of their food. It's a step up from L&L. The katsu was crunchy and the chicken teriyaki was sauces appropriately. The tonkatsu sauce had a strong taste and made the katsu taste even better. The Spicy Crumbly Spam (2pc) was interesting! I've never had a fried spam like that and I definitely shouldn't eat stuff like that cause it's unhealthy but it was worth it! Very small with four tables crammed together but we managed to enjoy dining in (Despite the homeless coming in and using their hand sanitizer by the order area ) You order and pay at kiosk and hope the 20% tip is fair as you don't know yet the service We had the sushi plate and seafood bowl We had gyoza for appetizer (with their homemade dipping sauce) we also ordered an eel and avocado roll too They make it fresh while you wait and it seems to hum along as we were done in an hour so I easily made it to the sf symphony which is 5 minute walk read more

Been to this place only twice, but loved it! The fish is fresh and tasty, rice/topping ratio is great and you can adjust however you like. I think I got the tuna poke bowl. They make it fresh for you while you wait. It is poke, so it's a bit pricy, but worth it! Only other downside is it's a pretty tiny at store, but I haven't had any issues with seating. Highly recommend, it's become one of my favorite spots! :) read more
Ordered lunch take out via DoorDash while craving rice and a meal. Ordered the unagi don and spam musubi. Unagi was soft and sauce was flavorful. I thought Asian Spam Musubi would have a sweeter teriyaki flavor but it came with mayonnaise. The mayonnaise and egg combo wasn't my favorite. But it did have good meat to rice ratio ! Other places will fill up on the rice! Location: On Vanness, unless you are commuting (they have indoor seating) people usually were ordering to go. Great location during lunch or quick stop. At ease ordering from the kiosk and a small and quaint space for dining in. Very cute spot. Now the food WOW! So delicious and variety and presentation AMAZING!! The spicy crunchy spam musubi had me lightly moaning mmmmmmm with the first bite and soooo good that I forgot to take pics!! lol and and $7 for two! I fancy myself a spam musubi connoisseur and this is hands down one of the best if not better! They have other food too so come and check it out. It says TL when seeking location however in the business area of Van Ness and not in the heart of the TL so just in case that was an issue. WORTH THE TRIP and not sure if they will still be crunchy if take out so treat YOSELF and eat it fresh!! read more
Ordering takeout from Kitchen Aloha is the highlight of my week. I work in the area and ordering lunch from this little spot is such a treat! I've seen some reviews mention that there can be a bit of a wait and so I'd recommend ordering ahead online - all the times I've been here I've been able to just walk in and have my order be ready. So far I've tried several of their rolls, musubis, and hand rolls - all have been tasty and definitely a good value. My favorites are the hand rolls as they're pretty big and they don't skimp on the fish - 2 to 3 is perfect for a meal. My partner's favorite is the cheeto spam musubi which is so decadent with the melty cheese. I also tried their pineapple juice today which was super refreshing and fresh! Ordered from Kitchen Aloha today on UberEats , and I'm honestly blown away by the packaging and presentation for take out. The tonkatsu came in a box with the sauces in separate containers which kept the meat crisy. The handroll held up really well during delivery too, and each musubi was separately wrapped, which makes it super convenient to grab and eat with your hands and no mess. In total I ordered: - cheeto spam musubi: loved the crispy spam with cheese and sauce that wasn't too sweet - spicy crumbly spam musubi: main difference from cheeto is the sauce. - spicy salmon avocado handroll more salmon than I expected. The hand roll was balanced nicely. I think the spicy sauce is same as the spicy musubi. - tonkatsu with curry sauce: didn't get to eat since I was so full from everything else read more

super yummy spot with huge menu selection! Staff was super friendly and helpful- dining space was limited I think due to construction? but my party was only of 2 so we were able to dine in. I noticed Kitchen Aloha on Yelp when I was searching hot and new places, but it took me some time to try it out--the first time I went, my only credit card I had on me was declined! Quelle horreur! I'm surprised I show my face there again, but I'm glad I did because it was so worth it. They have a good takeout business for lunch and dinner, but I'd say they're busier for takeout lunch given their location near a few medical buildings on Van Ness. It's a very easy-to-miss and non-descript building, so be on the lookout for it! I tried the spicy tuna and avocado roll which was good, but the real standout item was the Spicy Cheeto Spam Musubi Roll (2 pieces/$6). The regular spam musubi roll (2pieces/$5) was good, but the cheeto one was special, unique, and delicious. It was hot and had the perfect ratio of spam to rice to nori--very well-balanced. I will be back just to get it again for a snack! The interior is clean, cute, and welcoming, giving off Hawaii vibes. Service was friendly and fast--you can call ahead to order. I will definitely be back--this is the best spam musubi I've had in the Bay, so SF is lucky to have them! Kudos to Kitchen Aloha for opening during the pandemic too. read more

I work about 10 minutes away from this place, decided to give it a try for lunch. I ordered the spam masubi and Tekka maki roll, cost about $11 total. Tekka mak was good. Didn't blow my mind, but just tasted like good quality Tekka maki. Would get this again. Spam masubi: it was good and had a lot of sauce. The only thing was that the sauce used tastes somewhat sweet to me. It taste like a very sweet teriyaki sauce.. which I'm fine with teriyaki, but this one in particular was a little too sweet for me. Don't know if I would get this again, but for the price, 2 spam masubis for about $5- really not a bad deal and don't complain. Other places will charge about $3 just for one masubi This place is pretty popular during lunch, and they have great affordable lunch specials. Even sushi combos starting at $8 and comes with miso soup.They even have poke, udon, ramen as well. You can pay $1 more to upgrade your spam and make it crispy, spicy or hot cheeto dusted.. Variety of Japanese and Hawaiian dishes. I'll come back to try more. Take out only. read more
Been to this establishment twice. It occupies a very small building, and is all takeout. Fish is always fresh in rolls and poke! Got the Lomi Salmon Poke, and was surprised by how all the toppings tasted great together (good variety of textures). Fresh was fresh and well portioned. Dragon roll was one of the best Ive ever had, and their spam combos were tasty as well. Everything was well thought out and overall a solid place for sushi and poke. Absolutely delicious food. We had to wait a bit but that is because they make everything fresh and the wait was so worth it! The place is a small hole-in-the-wall - not a ton of seating. 3.5 I'd say. Food can take a while so just fair warning. Might be better to order ahead whether dining in or out. Seemed like people were getting it picked up. I had ordered the ramen with pork, and unagi handroll. The temp for the ramen was decent though as with most places I'd like it to be hotter. The unagi handroll was good though. Compatriots seemed pretty happy with the food there. I think it worked pretty well except for the wait itself. Despite a small space, it made it hard to pay for the bill. Seemed almost shorthanded. Good for what it was though it took much longer than anticipated. read more

I've ordered from Kitchen Aloha a couple times and had mixed feelings about the quality and taste. The handrolls and spam musubi were delicious and I would definitely order those again. However, the spaghetti and meat loco plate were huge disappointments. The spaghetti was bland and flavorless and the meat loco was not what was advertised. The description and photo online show bbq short ribs, corn, hash brown patties and sun chips and I received none of those. Instead I got pork katsu that was thin and dry and ribs that were tough and did not taste fresh. With such a huge menu, I guess not everything can be fresh. read more
