This brunch spot is cute and the service is attentive. The chicken and waffle seemed popular so we gave that a try. We enjoyed it but I thought the fries were too dark. The panini sandwich was very good.

My wife and I went here for breakfast today. We had an amazing experience. Our server Shea was one of the best servers I had the pleasure of meeting. Her knowledge of the menu and great personality was top notch. As for the food, one word Aweeeeesome. My wife had the sausage gravy over biscuits and potatoes on the side. She said it was very delicious and one of the best biscuits and gravy meals she had. I had the breakfast bowl special which after today will not be on the menu. It was the best breakfast bowl I ever had hands down. The quality of the ingredients were stunning. The bowl consisted of Chorizo, two eggs any way you like, avocado, pickled onions, black beans, jalapeño peppers, and tomatoes tossed in olive oil. The flavors are amazing. I only wish they would keep it in the menu. And yes I will go there again to try other menu items.

An IG post a week ago resulted in a spur of the moment breakfast run. Awesome service and delicious food (s/o to the in-house made sausage and biscuits). Looking forward to many more trips here. You didn't disappoint! I ate my food way too fast to post more pics, sorry!

Pro: my previous visits to Kitchen87 have been absolutely satisfying, and I thought that it really couldn't get any better. However, the recent special I was lucky enough to experience was a game changer! Ladies and gents, let's talk about the "Shrimp Nashville Gravy Benedict". It's a cheddar biscuit, topped by battered/fried jumbo shrimp, adorned with Nashville hot sauce, and capped with over-easy eggs. THIS WAS MAGICAL!!! Con: I'm not sure how long they'll have this special. When it departs, I'll be sad. Bottom Line: I won't cry when this meal is over; I'll simply smile because it happened!

Truly a great find! Our server was attentive, friendly and funny. The food was great. The ambiance was nice and comfortable. I ordered shrimp and grits which was good (with a side of crispy hash browns). My daughter really liked their Reuben sandwich (and this place is great for those with peanut and sesame seed allergies! Thank you!). But I would say the winner was my husband's breakfast sandwich- he ordered one with two fried eggs, Swiss cheese, mushrooms and pork roll and claimed it's the best breakfast sandwich he ever had. He generously let me have one bite and it was really good. We'll def be back!

This place never disappoints. The shrimp & grits is my absolute favorite (bursting my flavors)! The Huevos rancheros is also delicious. The pancakes are so huge & so fresh & sweet, we usually get them as a "breakfast dessert" to share at the table. The coffee is always good & I love how they serve it in random coffee mugs, it adds charm. This place is always busy, but that's a good sign. It's worth the wait & service is quick, friendly, & efficient!

This was my first time at Kitchen 87 and the customer service was outstanding!! I was approached by staff as if I was family!! I was hooked from the energy and vibe I received when walking in!! I order chicken and waffles with corn beef hash with a cranberry drink on the side! I got all of this food under 20$! Food was delicious!! My waffles were soft and fluffy and the chicken was cooked perfectly!! I enjoyed the spicy syrup too!! My waiter, Eric, was absolutely right when he said "you'll be back and you will love the food!" Well, Eric was right and I will definitely be back!!

I wish I could give Kitchen87 more stars, but 5's the limit. The food, atmosphere and service are top notch! You will not be disappointed with anything on the menu. I can say that with confidence because we ate almost everything :)

Chicken and Waffles w/ sauce on the side (don't mind the small bite taken out of one of the pieces of chicken lol)

The menu, while smaller, still has many fun and interesting options so we had no problem deciding on our meals (& drinks). The Blackberry Smash and the Autumn Cow-Man were the cocktails we ordered and the Thai Chili Brussels, Cheesesteak Eggrolls were the apps and the Buffalo Wings and Grilled Chicken Sandwich were the entrees. ALL THE FOOD (& drinks) were AMAZING!!!! Flavors were popping! Portions were generous! The food truly lived up to all the hype! The only reason the review isn't 5 stars is because our server was seriously on delay ... it had nothing to do with being busy because we had clear sight of him the entire time ... he was just on "island time" in NJ lol! Their Cajun quesadilla is delicious and it does have a nice little zing. Their traditional wings are amazing and their beef stew is delicious and very hearty. We have tried many of their specialties. The Hail Mary is a delicious Caesar salad on top of chicken cutlets and their Broccoli Chicken Cheesesteak is amazing. I recommend you get it pressed on the grill and that way it won't fall out as you bite each delicious bite. I would say 80 to 90% of the visits that we have had at this amazing establishment. We always bring home leftovers. So be aware that you were going to have lunch for tomorrow. You will get to the point where you will just think of something to eat that they have on their menu and your mouth will just start to drool. We definitely recommend going. Hard to tell exactly when it opened, as their website offers scant information, but they first started posting on Facebook in 2011 if that is anything to go by. They don't have a large footprint in the NJ brewing scene as they don't distribute to any liquor stores or bars/restaurants (they don't even offer beers in cans to go), and they don't do any big events other than the typical karaoke or trivia nights. What they do offer is a nice place to hang out in an old historic building right on the Main Street in the downtown area, and a solid lineup of beers. One thing that makes them stand out is a great selection of beers on nitro. From my experience with NJ breweries, you're lucky to find a single beer on nitro. At Village Idiot there are seven of them, most of them dessert stouts like a cookie butter white stout and a salted caramel milk stout. All that we tried were delicious and not crazy high in ABV like other dessert stouts. Flights are only $10 which is pretty cheap compared to other NJ breweries. Of note is that as of November 2025 they no longer allow outside drinks including water bottles like Nalgenes and Stanley Cups. Too many idiots sneaking in alcohol, according to their social media. Overall it has a bit more of a dive bar vibe only frequented by locals rather than a traditional NJ brewery, but the beer is definitely good enough, and the surrounding Main Street charming and quaint enough that I would definitely return.

Third experience w/ this location, and it's the one that finally convinced me this is a MUST AVOID. I ordered last Friday at 1:30 for 2 PM pickup. I had a short window for lunch and had to get back to the computer by 2:30. So, strapped for time. When I got there to pick up, there were 4 patrons in line. I walked alongside them to let the cashier know I was just picking up. In exactly the same way countless DoorDash and UberEats people in every food service environment do, all the time. The cashier, that first point of contact for the public, stuck his hand out in the international "talk to the hand" shush gesture. Nice! So I waited outside. After cashier took care of the first two, I lifted up both arms to say "what's up here?" Then I heard him say to the two customers in front of him that "That guy is acting crazy." At that point I told him to enjoy my sandwich -- and the tip I'd left on the PREPAID ORDER -- because I would not be waiting longer. Or coming back. Let's count all the ways this is a bad look: A business can't have employees talking about a customer to other customers -- PERIOD. It can't have people who use the order-ahead system waiting at the back of a line they expected to avoid entirely. It can't be rude to people who are arriving at the site and may not know the particular "rules" for online pickup. In my case, the ridiculous and needless wait allowed time for reflection on previous less-than-stellar attempts at Online Ordering at Gouldsburgers: the time when my burger was essentially cold when I got it home, a three-block walk. The time, just after the location opened, when I waited a long time after the pickup time only to discover that the order was comically wrong. (That one I attributed to newness and returned a few weeks later and had a good experience....). To his credit, the cashier did reach out later -- to ask if I wanted the order remade. He says the card has been credited but, because I'm not crazy, when I told him to enjoy the sandwich I really didn't expect a refund. Still don't! What I would expect is what I asked him when I returned the call: To speak with an admin/GM/MOD person about this. I have zero faith in this happening. But here's why it should: Because this location, which is indeed small, needs to address Online Pickup in a way that doesn't add 10-15 minutes to any poor unsuspecting soul's experience. This is FIXABLE! And also this business needs to rethink how it addresses people with at least a modicum of respect. That may not be fixable....
