If you're looking for a diner that's legit and don't want to leave hungry then this is the place for you....Country house doesn't do anything wrong or great it's just your usual local diner that's consistent. We would come back here.

    Breakfast taco yumminess!!

Recently I went to the Country House Diner in West Deptford. It's one of the few in the South Jersey area I haven't been too. Atmosphere: The outside is a cute little building resembling a house. It's not a big shiny, metallic diner, but it resembles a country diner. The inside has mostly booths, small bar, and a few tables. I arrived around 10 am, and it was clearly packed with regulars. Coffee: The Country House Diner brews Lacas Coffee. It was brewed hot and fresh, and we received plenty of refills. Food: Since it was still early, I was given a breakfast menu. I decided to order the number 3. It was steak and eggs, grits or hashbrowns, and toast. I ordered my steak medium rare, over easy eggs, rye toast, and grits. The steak was good. It wasn't rubbery, which is often an issue. The eggs and toast tasted good. The grits were kind of bland. They weren't terrible, but they lacked flavor and probably came from a box. In all, I liked my meal. Service: The waitress was friendly, refilled my beverages, and the food came out quickly. It was great. Overall Thoughts/Would I go back? I liked the Country House, and it's a cute stop right off 295. I would go back, I have no complaints.

Hear the words 'it's a local joint' and you might immediately make a move towards another restaurant but the Country House while clearly being a place where the locals hang out is a great place to enjoy a good breakfast with prices that won't break the bank. The friendly waitress spoke the truth about the corned beef hash so I crossed it off my list. Ok, so here's a question for eateries .... If your kitchen staff does not know how to make homemade corned beef hash why is it on your menu??? If you are slopping down the contents of a $1.99 can of Heinz Corned Beef Hash and charging $6.99 aren't you doing a disservice to your customers??? Just cross it off ..., Anyhow, I went for the pancake one egg and sausage special. It was really good. The pancakes thick, fluffy and tasty even before adding butter and syrup. Sausage was not your every day links and the egg nice and fresh. The coffee cup was constantly filled and tasted like quality coffee. Although I did not need jelly nor jam I couldn't help but notice the jelly rack was filled with MIXED FRUIT JELLY, the run-off waste product of jelly companies that no one goes shopping for and no one wants on their toast. An over abundance of MIXED FRUIT JELLY is an automatic loss of one star. Every table I looked at only offered MIXED FRUIT JELLY, these guys go bargain hunting at the jam shop or perhaps they save the good stuff for the locals? If you are in the area and hungry for breakfast it's worth the stop but if you're getting toast ask for jam ..,, the real stuff!

Western Omlette, potatoes with fried onion and green peppers and a side of sausage. Oh, and Tabasco on the omlette.

This was my second time at this diner. We stay at the Best Western in West Deptford, NJ and this is the closest diner. It is clean, with nice staff. It was busy but our food was quick and accurate. The menu wasn't priced bad and there were plenty of choices and specials to choose from. I think my only real complaint was that I ordered my potatoes with fried onions and peppers for a dollar extra and they were raw. That's probably not a big deal to most but raw onions give me horrible indigestion. I will probably go back to this diner if I'm in the area again but I will be a little more careful when ordering things that bother me.

While still offering a full bar with high tops to sit at, TV's along the walls and a solid beat of very listenable music ... we had chosen the Corner to eat at and the one pager didn't offer what their website and prior menu photographers had implied. We walked in on a Sunday evening ... the darkness had enveloped the daylight but we were hungering for some of the menu items but upon opening the doors we discovered an emptiness applicably haunting on a dark dark night. But, then the barkeep welcomed us with this awesome smile and greeting! She pointed out that patience would be a virtue since she was working the bar and the dining tables, which we noticed did have some semblance of life present around them. We ordered our bar beverages and pursued the menu plus the "specials," which were limited. When the adult beverages were transported back we had questions about the chili and the crab chowder. We said we were testing her honesty as to how good they were. She described the chili but said she was allergic to shell fish so she couldn't say how the chowder was but she asked .... 'Would you like a sample of both so you can decide?" A SAMPLE we thought ... well yes, that is an exceedingly pro-customer option BRING ON THE SAMPLES ... So she strolls back with soup spoons and samples. And, we were thrilled .... The chili was not "spicy hot" but it was oh so flavorful and the Maryland Crab Chowder was thickened with stuff because after all it was a chowder with a little edgy kick but oh so so good! Decisions made ... Definitely the chili and a chicken quesadilla but the Chowder was turned down because it would be "too much" along with the desired fish taco's. And, what perfect decisions ... delicious food and the chili even got better topped with cheese and jalapeño! The price was right too. As we sipped the last few drips of the adult beverages while eyeing some of their happy hour specials we wondered why the menu was shrunk because we were very very happy ... And, after walking up to the bar to get the bill (We told her she was working her butt off handling the bar and tables that the least we could do was walk to her when we needed something.) and paying ... it was back into the dark of the night ... so dark and so satisfied with food and perhaps that second adult beverage my passenger went to the side door of a car that wasn't mine ... It was the right choice ... not the car but the Corner ... a good ending with plans for a return for one of those discounted happy night meals.

What is wrong with the world in general?…read more How about why is this establishment perpetuating extreme ignorance? I called to place an order for pick up. Before I knew what my total would be, before the restaurant knew what I wanted, before I even knew if I wanted to place an order because I wasn't sure if I'd have time to wait the question I was greeted with is "How am I paying, cash or credit?" What??? Seriously? That is the worst, most money hungry question on the planet. What? Are you concerned I'm not going to pay you? Well, no worries. I can actually answer that question. You are actually concerned with what price to charge me. I know this because after I placed my order and said I was paying credit, I was TOLD (not asked) I was going to pay 15% gratuity. Excuse me? First of all GRATUITY is what I pay to say THANK YOU (hence the term gratuity) for great SERVICE. If you answer the phone and push some buttons to put in my order then I have to drive to the establishment, get out of my car, walk inside, possibly wait behind someone else before I can even get my order, then WHERE IS THE SERVICE!!!!????? Aside from the fact that you have omitted part of the meal that I would have enjoyed if I had the time to come inside and sit (soup), you then want me to be THANKFUL?!?! (For getting less and paying more). Shameful. In addition, when I do come in and sit and enjoy my meal, 20% gratuity or better is what is left on the table. Why? Because someone came over to my table and took my order, checked on me, brought me food, drinks, napkins l, straws, a smile, etc. I can't even get a smile through the phone and this chick wants 15%? Disgraceful! AND... if management is forcing servers to take time away from their in restaurant patrons to place phoned in orders... you need to rethink your business model. How about you get up off of your behinds from counting all of your dollars and help the staff get these orders processed. What you need to keep in mind is 15% of zero is zero. I encourage anyone reading this review to think twice before ordering out at this restaurant. Despicable!
