All raw rolls, not much to brag about

We got a table pretty quick around 2pm on a Saturday. Service felt on the slower side for in not being busy. Their rolls are just ok. Not a fan of places that have a lunch and dinner menu, so we only had lunch. Won't be coming back.

Kitzmo is a nice, simple Japanese Restaurant, having served Reno since 2012. We've been here many times. One of the fairly unique items on the menu are the Bento Boxes. The servings are plentiful, filling and delicious. We visited with some family in town. The group ordered the Shrimp Tempura Bento, the Chicken Teriyaki Bento and the Chicken Katsu Bento. The Bento's are served with a cabbage salad, California Rolls, a couple pieces of Vegetable Tempura, Gyoza and white rice, in addition to the main dish. Feedback from the group, the Shrimp Tempura was the best. The Chicken Tempura was quite good and the Chicken Katsu was crunchy and moist. We were most concerned about the Katsu, which can be dry but not on this occasion. Wanting Sushi, I ordered a couple of rolls. The Dragon Ball Roll. Crispy tempura shrimp served with cool cucumber, rich unagi, creamy avocado, spicy crab, and tobiko topped with flavorful teriyaki sauce. Truly a satisfying fusion of textures and flavors. I also had the Rainbow roll, more a stepped up version of the California Roll. The base is a basic California Roll, then they add a colorful combination of tuna, salmon, yellowtail, and tobiko. The rainbow roll offers a medley of fresh flavors from the sea. We went during the lunch hour, so the restaurant was quite empty. Which to be honest was quite nice. Very calm and quiet, allowing our group to converse with ease. The waitress was pleasant and welcoming but not the fastest worker in the planet. Our service was fine but given how empty the restaurant was, it would have been quite easy to have provided a more engaged service. Overall, Kitzmo is our go-to when we are looking for a quality Bento. Their rolls are solid. Offering great variety and quality.

Hands down, one of the best sushi experiences I've had. The place itself as soon as you step in feels very cutesy and reminiscent of a street bar in Tokyo. Great atmosphere! The staff was extremely diligent even though there were so many people when we went in. And the food? Some of the best sushi I've had and an excellent selection from raw to baked and deep fried. Everything was perfectly cooked and super super tasty. My entire party left hurting! Highly recommend.

Earlier this week we got a delivery order from here and nothing was inherently bad but nothing was great. Was all oddly warm so not sure if it's from delivery or the sushi. Lots of rice to the roll with little meat but also mushy meat so.. lots of filling of cream cheese or rice and who knows what. Even the spam was off which is hard to do cause well.. it's spam. kinda chalked it up to being sushi in Reno until we tried Sakana had a 10/10 there

One of my favorite places to grab sushi. A lively place to eat. It's laid back fun atmosphere. It's always clean and staff are friendly and tentative. A delicious sushi menu that won't disappoint. The all-you-can-eat options for lunch and dinner are a great value. I had the cheezy crab, crab ball, and pot stickers for appetizers and the Dragon Ball, Red Dragon, Sun Flower, and Double Crunch rolls. They were absolutely delicious.

This is one of the few places I know that allow individuals to do AYCE instead of the whole party! I'm a big sushi fan but my family are just ok raw fish. They prefer bento boxes. So it was nice that we were all able to get what we all wanted! The place can seat about 50-60 people in the open area and 10ish at the bar. There was a little bit of a wait but we're hungry enough to power through. The fish was fresh and I'm pleasantly surprised we were able to find this gem in Reno!

Walked in on a busy Friday and we were approached so quickly, I was surprised. Parking can be limited here since it is in a fenced-in shopping center. Only available spots to eat when we arrived were at the bar, and that's where you get the quickest service- perfect! Friendly, welcoming staff, prompt service and an extensive menu made this place stand out instantly. The tables were all full of families and it appeared to be folks familiar with the staff indicating they were regulars. Decor was clean and classy and the whole place had a comfortable feel to it. AYCE was a good deal. I saw rolls not available at most sushi spots, so the combos were refreshing. Everything tasted fresh and was served very quickly. Solid sushi spot!

The "green yea" I asked for.

Service was slow to take our order. We did not want all you can eat. We wanted A la carte.

My one and only fav bento box

Once again, as always the best. Staff, food are awesome. Such a great atmosphere too. And, if there's a sporting event on, we can watch it.

Was in the area, decided to give this place another try. Came for lunch and sat at the bar. Three sushi chefs were working and it wasn't busy so the service was excellent! The rolls were just the right size. The rice to sushi ratio was spot on! The fish tasted really good.

We always go for the shared plates, it's more expensive but worth it. Some things to consider before you visit: -No reservations, first come first serve. Most nights it's a 30-45 minute wait if you don't get there right when they open. We always put our name down and walk to Chapel for a cocktail while we wait. - Like many of the reviews state, it does get pretty loud. It is part of the experience. The later the night gets, the louder the music and the dimmer the lights. Don't be the annoying person that asks them to adjust either of those things. If that's not your vibe, you should dine elsewhere. - Seating is limited, not the place to have people just trickle in/ come and go. If you are dining here, everyone should show up on time. - They do have gluten free mods, but they are not available on the weekends. - I would not recommend for vegans We have tried basically the entire menu. Our favorites are the duck fried rice, Caesar, mushroom croquettes, soba noodles, ten layers of pork, pork gyoza, shrimp fritter, Tokyo fried chicken, chicken meatballs, rice tots, and mushroom jar. Everything we've tried is outstanding, even the beef tongue! Drinks are all really good, only note I have is that the wine pours are pretty small. If you haven't been here, definitely add it to your list. Easily top 5 restaurants in all of Reno!

I finally decided to opt out of my usual Miso ramen order and try the donburi. My absolute favorite appetizers are the karaage chicken and takoyaki, it is very hard to find quality of either in town and each order has never been less than great. The menu is detailed and include vegetarian and vegan options. I had the chicken curry katsudon, the chicken was breaded and fried well, and the curry contained potatoes, carrots, and onions, yet it felt really heavy on the carrots, and I couldn't finish them all. My partner had the Kuro ramen, which he gets every time, but this time level 3 spice didn't seem spicy. Whenever we order to-go, it is visibly clear when it is level 3. The service was fast and friendly for a Thursday night, the lychee martini and draft Sapporo that we always order still tasted as good as ever.

I think the staff can recognize when patrons are seasoned AYCE sushi eaters like we were and turn up the hustle (in a good way), and I also overheard our server patiently explaining how AYCE works at the table next to us. The place itself definitely leans more fast-casual/no fuss as far as typical sushi restaurants. It's clean with plain walls/no decor, and all seating is all 4-top tables and bar seating. There is a warmth to the simplicity, it's certainly not a bad thing and I'll continue to enjoy it with every subsequent visit.

My very first visit was actually quite impressive--I thought for an all-you-can-eat sushi place outside of a casino, it was definitely one of the decent spots in Reno. However, things went downhill on my second visit. I brought a friend from out of state and we sat at the sushi bar. Normally, when you sit at the bar, you can order directly with the chef, but we understood that there might be a language barrier, so we wrote our orders on the paper sheet instead. Still, service was a mess: our appetizer took forever and came out wrong twice, they forgot our tea, and even though there were only two or three tables plus just the two of us at the bar, they kept checking off items on our order sheet that had never been served. My third visit was the absolute breaking point. The waitress--a large woman standing in the back--walked over so painfully slow, with zero energy or interest in working. No smile, no greeting, and she didn't even ask where we'd like to sit until we had to speak up and request the sushi bar. That day, a soccer game was playing on TV. The sushi chefs clearly didn't want to work--they kept turning around to watch the game and chatter among themselves, completely ignoring us. There was no communication whatsoever until we finally had to ask, "Are you guys ready to make our food?" Only then did one chef ask, "Are you ready?" Since we sat at the bar just for some simple nigiri, we wanted to order verbally, but they insisted we write it down. My friend was confused because if we wrote our orders on the same sheet, they'd serve everything on one shared plate. Sitting at the bar means we wanted to order and eat at our own pace on individual plates, so we had to ask for a second order sheet. We then waited nearly 30 minutes for our sushi. Nobody checked on us or asked if we wanted anything else, and they actively avoided eye contact. Our second round of appetizers never arrived--yet again, they marked it as served and handed the paper back! I had to call the server over to ask why it was checked off when we hadn't received a thing. Then my friend submitted a second round of sushi orders directly to the chef. After waiting a ridiculously long time--nearly 20 minutes--we wondered where our chef went, thinking he just stepped away to grab ingredients. Suddenly, the chef next to him picked up our order sheet, muttered something to himself, and handed it back to us. Since his English wasn't great, we couldn't understand what he said, but once again, they had marked our order as complete even though we were sitting right in front of them with zero food! If a chef needs to take a break, they should hand off the pending orders to a coworker, not just vanish without a word. My friend was so frustrated that I finally asked the server why the order sheet was handed back without the food being made. She apologized and offered to tell the chef again, but by then, we were done. Having been disappointed three times in a row, we decided to call it quits, pay the bill, and leave. We will never step foot in this place again. It's really a shame because the owner is Korean. I have Korean friends myself, and I used to own a sushi restaurant too. Korean owners are usually deeply attentive to their customers. During my first visit, the owner personally took care of the guests. But later on, after leaving the floor to non-Korean staff, the service completely tanked. The staff lacked any enthusiasm, urgency, or passion for customer service. It was immensely disappointing, and there definitely won't be a fourth visit.

Appetizers, nigiri, and rolls here are usually a smidge behind Tokyo in variety, taste, and fish to rice ratio on the nigiri, but still very good -- definitely above average. There's usually little to no wait unless you're in a large group, as opposed to Tokyo's madhouse that has waits frequently of an hour. Music isn't blasting so you can hear the person at the other side of the table speak, and service is consistently excellent in the relatively small dining room. It's about $4 less expensive with tax and tip then Tokyo also at $42 vs $46 total as of July 2026.
