Oh man! I couldn't be happier with Kevin. He literally saved me and this is why: The day before a big trip in my RV, I came across some noisy mechanical issues that 6 other shops told me they couldn't help me with, and that no mechanic could accommodate me day of. When I thought I was all out of luck, I decided to make one more call -- and that one call is what got me on the road to a camping trip I've been planing for weeks. When I called Kevin he told me he had no problem taking a look at it, and said that if he could fix it, he absolutely would, which I really appreciated because no other shop I called was even willing to look at my RV and see what the problem was. Once I arrived at Kevin's shop and met him, I knew he was the guy to handle the situation. He asked to go for a ride in my vehicle to hear what the issue was and immediately heard the the sound and identified the problem in no more than 3 minutes. The problem was that my alternator belt wasn't tight enough, so he fixed it immediately and sent me on my way. Later in the day I started hearing a clinking noise in my RV and called Kevin to tell him what the issue was. Based on what I explained, he knew it was my alternator and told me to come back in right away because he knew my trip was the following day. He then spent hours sourcing the right alternator for my RV and proceeded to change it, calling me as soon as it was ready, and to my surprise he even switched out my car battery that was dying. The following morning when I was driving out on my trip, I was surprised to get a call from Kevin at 8am checking in to make sure my car was running smoothly. It's been driving beautifully the last few days and I'm so lucky to have found someone to help make this trip possible! After 12 years of living in LA, I am thrilled I finally have a reliable mechanic I can trust and who wasn't turning me away because it wasn't a huge job. Thank you, Kevin! Even talking to him on the phone was great. I knew in their line of business they're always busy but when I first spoke to him on the phone, he wasn't't rushing & very accommodating with my inquiries. I needed a good mechanic here in Burbank, somebody who's trustworthy & I think I found it. Got my car fixed at a reasonable price & the service is spectacular. I have finally found the guy. You have no idea what I've been thru trying to find the guy. I've got a 64 Falcon and I've been thru hell and back with engine issues and trying to get my car back to driveable. First, just trying to get a good rebuilt 302, used to be no prob. Now it's a big prob bec the guys that do it the way it should be done are disappearing and retiring, moving, etc. Forget Jasper, at least for me, went thru 2 and they were junk. Long story short, through a ton of referrals found a good machinist who rebuilt my 3rd engine that Jasper swapped. The mechanic who put it in was way sucky too, long story, lost my old mechanic 2 years ago. Fast forward thru a trail of tears, I found the guy. This guy is who you need to see, period. I went to KK the other day to see if Kevin knew anyone who repairs carburators and of course he did. A very knowledgeable and helpful person. He has a vast list of people he knows to help you with a problem on your car. So, he got the phone number by calling a friend who knew the place he was thinking of. It was in Pacoima called Valley Carburator. I truly think he is an all around special individual that truly cares. I used him before as he replaced the back-up light switch that goes in the trans. Dealership or the local Mechanic? We all end up at these cross roads. I usually work on my own truck, because it has to be done right and I do not have a run away check book. My truck needed major work, dismount the motor type of work. I visited other local mechanics, no one would listen to what i had to say "i know my truck". Kevin on the other hand, not only listen, but re assured me he knew what i was talking about. Two days and my truck was back to normal at a very very reasonable price. When the transmission of my 2003 Mini Cooper went out, AAA recommended an auto shop to get it repaired. After the guy took a look at it, he gave us an estimate of $4,000 to $6,000 to get it fixed. Knowing the guy was taking a run with my money, I decided to look on my own for someone else who could do it for far less. So I found Kevin on Google, called and asked if he happened to work on Mini Coopers and he said yes, told him my situation, agreed that the $4,000 to $6,000 estimate was a ridiculous amount, and said he could probably do it for half the price depending on what used part he could find. Before calling him, my boyfriend had told me you could find a used tranny for $1500 and Kevin said the exact same thing! He was really busy that day working on other cars so I took it upon myself to find a part, took me an hour but I found a used tranny for $1700. I asked Kevin how much would labor cost to get it fixed, and said $400-$500. I went from $4000 to $2200. Around the time that I was going to go ahead to get the car fixed, my dad ended up selling my Mini for parts, ended up getting $1200 for it. Told Kevin that I wouldn't need the car fixed, since my dad did sell it for parts, and he said that selling it would have been a far better idea because if I wanted to sell my car when it was running it might be hard to do. Also recommended to not purchase another Mini and to go with a Honda or Toyota just because the retail value is higher if I did ever want to get rid of it. Even though I didn't need his service in the end, he was very honest and straightforward and I didn't feel that he was yanking my chain and trying to take a run with my money like the first mechanic I took my car to. If I ever need his services, Kevin will be my first choice! read more

Several years ago, I took my van to Kevin for a transmission overhaul. He did a great job. Since that time, we have taken my moms car in for a clunking sound and a gas leak smell. Once again, Kevin saves the day. Now, my same van has a failing power steering pump. Making loud, terrible noises, that I can no longer drown out by turning the radio up louder! Even though Kevin is a transmission shop, he is still the first person that comes to mind when I need to have repairs done to my vehicle. He will be replacing my power steering pump and serpentine belt and billing me at an affordable price that I can afford. It will be nice to have one less thing to have to worry about. I went to Kevin for a rebuild on my Chevy Avalanche. First things first was that he got in the truck and drove it with me so that he could know EXACTLY what the truck was doing so that I could have an idea of the work he would have to do. He gave me a good quote and told me to drop the truck off on Monday for repairs. My truck, my baby for the past eight years is once again purring like a kitten. Kevin was a pro throughout, had my truck fixed in a timely fashion and even did some fuse work and checking on the tires on his own time and with no cost to me. I met Kevin about two years ago when my Short bed Stepside '85 Chevy C10 Scottsdale shit the bed. The valve train was shot and I thought the heads were ruined. Those were the main issues, anyway. There was also a fire in the engine bay due to a bad ground situation, so I was in a bit of a panicked state of mind when I first had the truck brought to him. Basically it needed a top-end rebuild, which most shops would and could gouge you for. Especially the extras, like new hoses, etc. Not Kevin. With that said, I'm a self-admitted pain in the ass as far as asking lots of questions - particularly when it comes to my truck, as I've had it as a daily driver since October 2001. For the most part, my friends and I are pretty handy and usually worked on it ourselves. Exhaust intakes, fuel pumps, carb rebuilding - all taken care of by me and my boys. But as time goes on, people get busier and sometimes you gotta go to a shop and that's where trouble can start. Too much information on the web, too many "experts" and not enough honest, hard-working and intelligent shop owners but Kevin proved to be the exception. Back to the truck and Kevin's shop. He guided me through each and every decision of the rebuild process, from ordering the correct parts to letting me poke around his garage. It's a busy shop, too, so there's a bit of a wait but it's well worth it. He mostly works on vintage and old-school hot rods and of course, "regular" vehicles, too. Mine's not regular - nothing too wild but it's modified with some go-fast parts under the hood (350 C.I.D.) and the suspension is lower than your average Ferrari. Kevin found his way around my truck with ease and educated me on the main problems it was having - that being a worn-out cam, a shot valve train and leaking headers. You know what he did to the headers? He resurfaced them. Nobody does that! Not one shop in all of LA that I could find would do it. And the geometry on my truck doesn't allow for any old set of headers, either, so the ones I had were basically the only ones I could use. Not only did he resurface them so they were perfectly flat and flush where they meet the block, he recommended (and used) a great set of gaskets - no junk. Problem solved. That's what he does. He solves problems. And after further discussion about my valves, he convinced me to put a nice set of roller rockers in the motor. At first I was hesitant but after a detailed explanation (and my own research, too) he was more than right about that choice. I didn't go crazy and get the most expensive ones; I got a nice set from Summit that cost around $200-$250 and guess what? No more valve adjustments ever again, no oil burning and the engine runs that much more smoothly. He went a step further, too. He hooked me up with a set of higher clearance valve covers to accommodate the the set-up at no charge. I'd also like to add this - after all of the work was completed (new cam, timing chain and a few other bits), he personally drove to my house a couple of weeks later to check on my truck and to make a minor adjustment to the timing. He literally made a house call. That's integrity. There's more I could say about him and his shop - all positive - but I'm running out of room. What I can say is this - since the first time I met him up until now, I've had other minor issues with the vehicle - general maintenance stuff - and he's the only shop I trust to do rock solid, long-lasting work. He's honest, he's busy and fair and he's a nice guy. Not cheap, not over-the-top expensive, either. And besides, good work isn't cheap - and cheap work isn't good. He's a good, good egg.
