It also wasn't clear that you all order together since its a per person price which confused us first-timers here. My GF had to "order up" just so I could get the Short Ribs. She was eating all chicken. Again, not entirely clear you order 3 meats together so we each ordered 3 meats. We would have mixed then to make sure we could keep ordering if we had known. I actually ended up eating some of hers becuase the portions were more than she could eat so we didn't get charged the $10 waste fee. Servers should have the ability to split if they can easily track who's eating who's. I missed out on an extra order of ribs. If I do come back I'll rate it again, knowing what I know now. As of now, this is the third Kkoki I've been to. The people here are very welcoming and attentive. This branch doesn't really have noodles so I was sad that there was no bibim naengmyun (prob spelled wrong). But the meat is amazing! We got the premium package and our favorite meats were the brisket, LA galbi and spicy pork belly! Would love to have free appetizers like in some kbbq joints in other places but otherwise this is a great weekend guilty pleasure read more

We drove an hour to get here for Valentine's Day dinner after we had called to make a reservation. The lady on the phone said they'd have plenty of seats and hung up the phone. Needless to say we showed up and they were full and not taking anyone else and we were screwed trying to find somewhere else to eat on Valentine's Day last minute. Yum! Writing this review as I'm eating. Stopped here at the Supercharger on my way to Portland and I am so glad I did. I just ate the free accompaniment they give you with the meal that has kimchi sprouts some tofu thing and other goodness. I would've been happy with just that it was so good. Next up are the fried dumplings, which are essentially potstickers. If you've had a potsticker before, the only difference here is they are crispy. Still damn good but if you're looking for something unique try something else. Now to the main event, the bibimbap with beef. Such a pretty dish with several ingredients separated then topped with an egg. The yolk is runny so you can have it dress the rest of the ingredients. The beef on its own is OK but could use a little more sauce or moisture. It comes with a spicy red sauce but it's not too hot if you spread it evenly. I wouldn't recommend dumping the whole thing on there though. The portions we're quite large and the server who helped me with the take-out order over the phone and in person were super friendly and helpful. All in all a great spot! read more

This will be a lengthy review, but given the conduct of our waiter Park last night (7/12/2024 around 9pm), I feel it's important to highlight what kind of customers we've been to Kkoki over the years--and how disappointing it was to have a guest at our table treated like a nuisance. My family have been customers of Kkoki regularly since their opening in Salem, at least once per month we'll visit. We'll spend 100-150 dollars each visit depending on how many of us are going. We found early on it's a better experience to order meat entrees rather than jump into the all-you-can-eat game, so if there's any waste at the table it's in the form of banchan leftovers that are typically pretty cheap. I understand Kkoki is a business and needs to make a profit to survive, so cutting expensive waste like uncooked meat or untouched banchan is understandable. My point is that we are not the type of customers to waste a bunch of food and cut into Kkoki's profit margin needlessly. Most of our experiences at Kkoki have been good; the food is always tasty and portioned fairly, the restaurant is clean enough, and service is usually decent. Sometimes we've had issues with inattentive or forgetful wait staff, but we've never had an issue with a server being overtly rude until tonight, which immensely soured our experience. Our server was Park, and at first he seemed friendly and eager to wait on our table. This is the first time I've ever seen Park working, so perhaps he is new to Kkoki. Since we've visited so many times, we already had a good idea of what we wanted to eat and were ready to order right away, so generally I feel like we're easy and reasonable customers. As we were ordering food, Park made a point of correcting some poor pronunciation of one of the dishes we were choosing. Fair enough--Korean is not the first language of anyone in my family, and clarifying pronunciation might prevent ordering the wrong food and having to send a plate back to the kitchen. On the other hand I can imagine some people might find it rude to be corrected. Bulgogi beef is a common entree choice of ours, and my elderly mother enjoys the seasonal veggies that have usually been included with entrees in the past. She made a point of asking, because lately we have not received veggies unless we ask; likely Kkoki trying to cut down on waste--fair enough in this economy. It was not entirely clear to her whether Park heard her, as he didn't seem to acknowledge what she requested; English is her second language and the restaurant is generally noisy between the K-pop, customer conversation, and open kitchen. Once we had finished ordering, my mother repeated that she would like veggies for the grill before Park could walk away. Park decided it was acceptable to snap at her something to the effect of "I heard you" or "I'm going to bring them" with a tone and expression utterly unbecoming of a server. I regret not confronting Park about it on the spot, but we hadn't even started our dinner yet and didn't want to have some Jerry Springer argument and leave hungry. Park offered no apology nor seemed to notice how he had expressed himself. The rest of the dinner service he seemed friendly enough, albeit inattentive about refilling water glasses. Anyone who has been a server for long knows that even if the customer has annoyed you with a duplicate request, it is the professional route to gracefully acknowledge it and give the benefit of the doubt to the customer. Becoming overtly annoyed with a customer over a miscommunication mere moments into the service is appalling, and left us all feeling like we should no longer visit Kkoki. This is a testament to how critical good wait staff is to making or breaking your business. Perhaps Park was having a bad night or dealt with some jerk customer moments before we walked in, but that's no excuse. In addition to Park's schizophrenic moment, Kkoki seems to be implementing portion changes for the worse (and a different mandu supplier). Hopefully Kkoki management will read this and sincerely consider my feedback. read more

Having been to other Koren BBQ across the states I was astonished by their prices and what they don't include In the all you can eat compared to others. I've read alot of reviews about people not being happy about single guests not being able to do the all you can eat. I took that with a grain of salt and decided to go by myself one day. What they don't say in the reviews is that 1 plate of meat cost 40$ (again for 1 plate of meat.) when a all you can eat is 27. I get up charging for one client but dang at least cater to them. Maybe offering other cooked combo dishes? Need less to say I didn't eat there as a single guest. read more

First things first, the service was fantastic! Our server Marina G was amazing and made it a 5-star experience which we would recommend to others and make us want to return soon! The menu is somewhat overwhelming with choices, but we knew we wanted the All You Can Eat (AYCE) BBQ and Marina kindly gave us the basics of the process to make it an easy experience for us. You can choose different levels of categories which provide more varieties of meats with higher prices (which really don't differ that much in price). You are given 2 hours and are gently reminded of your time limit half an hour before it is over. We went with the basic package given it is still a relatively new experience for us. We gave her our first round of three meat choices. She quickly brought out the ban chan (side dishes), some veggies and Korean rice cake (Tteok), bowls of rice, a piece of fat in oil (to grease the grill), our drinks and then lit the grill. Our first round of meat arrived shortly afterwards and the fun began! As soon as all the meat is off the platter, you can order the next round of meat which can vary from the first according to your category. You can order extra ban chan, grilling veggies and bowls of rice as needed. Marina checked in often and made sure we had everything we needed. The grill top is replaced between each round of meat to give you a fresh surface. Although we were fully satisfied with the basic package, we found ourselves repeating certain meats and might go up a level next time. It would be difficult for one to go through all the meats in the mid and upper level packages, but it does allow for more variety. We did tap out before the time limit reminder as we were stuffed! The service and food made for a really satisfying experience! There may be other AYCE Korean BBQ, but this place seems to really have their act together for a wonderful experience! read more

We ate in the restaurant on 11/2/2020. The service was very good and the whole staff wore masks. This is a typical korean style bbq restaurant where you cook your own food at the table. The table has a built in grill. We ordered the premium all you can eat for 2 hours package (the middle one) as there were ample meat choices available. Our waitress and staff came by regularly to see how we were doing as well as offered suggestions on sauces to choose from. There was never an issue of not having enough food. In fact we were stuffed in a little over an hour! What I found exceptional was the ventilation system in the restaurant. Typically, your clothes smell like cooked meat when you leave a korean bbq, but their fans were so good that this was not an issue. Everything we had from the side dishes to the meats were all delicious. By the way, if there was a particular side dish you liked, they will happily bring you more. Anyone is friendly and knowledgeable on the food choices. They have a tiered approach to eating with a great selection of foods on all the tiers. We had the first tier and found everything was wonderful. If you're a kbbq fiend like I am this is definitely the place to go, and there's nowhere else like it in Salem. I went with a group of friends for a birthday and we decided on the AYCE set C. The food was great, and our waitress was both sweet and attentive, especially considering how busy they were the night we went. Some tips in advance: - for AYCE everyone at the table has to order and pay for the same set, most ppl new to kbbq aren't very familiar with this setup so don't make the mistake of having one person order AYCE and everyone else pays for it - there's a fee for not finishing any food in AYCE so be careful not to order beyond what you can finish - kbbq is notorious for all the smoke from the grill so be aware if you can't handle it - grill non marinated meat first! The marinades burn up the pan pretty fast and there's not enough staff to change it in time every round read more

Tonight was my first time and obviously last time In this place. I had my first round of meats and then ask for the second round and a piece of GUM was on the inside of the rice lid cup. I notified my server right away and she just said "oh, a piece of gum". She did not even bother to apologize for it and when we ask for a manager she told me there wasn't one on site. Then I asked a different server for the manager and he got the kitchen manager whom to my surprise and again did not care much. He just said I am sorry and offered me a 10% discount. Yeah, that is right 10%. I honest didn't care much for the discount o was trying to get something free, the fact the they didn't care about me finding a piece of gum in my food was what really got me very upset. This place is legit. We stopped here for dinner cuz the kids wanted kbbq. A very modern looking place with good ventilation. We opted to order a la carte and have the kitchen cook for us. We were also not super hungry so that defeats the purpose of the AYCE. Would definitely like to come back and try that option next time. We were given a booth towards the back as they were kinda of busy. We ordered the kalbi, bulgogi, the galbi tang. And a beef bibimbop. The ban chans that came with the meal were kimchi, 2 types of pickled radishes and the broccoli. The kids really enjoyed their broccoli, we ended up getting refills on those. The kalbi was pretty tasty, we actually preferred that over the bulgogi. The galbi tang came with noodles and I wished I ordered the spicy version but none the less it was still pretty good and it was not ladened with MSG. Our waitress was busy, she did come by and check in on us but was pretty sparse. Overall, the prices were great, definitely a lot cheaper than the Bay Area kbbq. read more

The service was absolute garbage tonight. I came in hungry with my son and husband thinking we were going to end our day with good food. We were seated and given our waters and then left alone for what seemed like a very long time. If I had to guess, I think we waited between 25-30 minutes. Several waitstaff walked by and no one helped us. We flagged someone down and we were reassured us that someone would help us. There was a guy that kept looking at us. He seemed like he would be our server because he was waiting on other customers in our area. He would walk by and loudly ask the other table if they needed anything and he'd have his back turned away from us as soon as he would walk away. The weird thing about the whole situation was that it wasn't as busy as I've seen it previously. The area we were seated at had several open tables. I come here often and over the past few months management has change but not in a good way. Management seems to have laid off a bunch of the better servers. They've also changed from oil on the grills to butter so beware if you have an allergy. This visit Logan was our server. We were sat in the back by the bar. Logan was not only our server but also the bartender. He was busting his butt to make sure customers were taken care of. He somehow always knew when we needed a new grill and always checked in with us to see if we were ready to order our next round of meat. After coming here a couple times when they first opened, I definitely see the changes in their quality. When they first opened, everything tasted good and was well marinated. Service was good as well. Now, everything seems bland. As if they just marinate the meat half an hour ago. The sauces tasted like water. The salad used to be one of my favorite thing but now it's just big chunk of lettuce with bland sauce poured together. Service wasn't so great either. My boyfriend and I have been here about 5 times now and we love it. I'm from SoCal, and no this place doesn't compare (but no place will). For Oregon, this is the best KBBQ I've had by far. The people are very friendly and everyone is super helpful. There is a two hour limit (which is pretty standard). They bring the food out super quick and it's all great quality. The atmosphere is fun and upbeat and generally just a cool place. I love this place and have yet to have a bad experience. 10/10 I highly recommend!! I can not believe some of the reviews this place has gotten and feel like it's been very overly scrutinized. No, they won't do KBBQ for only one person. That's all KBBQ places.
