I stopped here today to get some ice cream. I had never been to Kline's and was anxious to try it. I was a bit surprised that they only offered five different kinds of ice cream. The girl working there was very friendly and let me try the Dubai chocolate, which to me just tasted like plain chocolate. I ended up getting a cup of the vanilla ice cream based on her recommendation. Their ice cream is more like frozen custard and it's made daily. I found the consistency to be a little runny and thin and not as creamy as other frozen custards I've had before, but the vanilla flavor was really good. Parking lot is awful, it's a busy place and only one way in and out and not a lot of spaces. Got stuck trying to turn around. Ice cream was good, just wish they had more flavors available. Second time at Kline's Dairy Bar, I ordered two vanilla waffle cones with sprinkles. The ice cream is tasty and I love that they rotate flavors weekly, keeps you on your toes. The service is great and they manage the line well which is nice, especially on hot days. Be sure to get plenty of napkins, the ice melts fast! I went on a day where there wasn't much happening, late evening so it was quiet. A couple of small things worth noting, one of the cones came broken and the sprinkles were only on one side, would love to see them go all the way around. Hallelujah - Kline's has come to town! Everything is good about this place. I love their schedule of weekly flavors Bavaria the quality and creaminess of their ice cream is the best. Been in town for a week and have been twice! The custard-type ice cream is tasty and the sundaes are incredible. Everything is fresh and very good. Hot fudge? Yes, it's actually hot. The young people working there are kind and helpful -- good job whoever is training and overseeing them. We've used the patio once -- clean and comfortable for eating ice cream. Once we ate in the car because it was after dark and a cool wind was blowing. I guess if you have a ridiculously big truck don't take it into their lot. There is not room for it. Moved here from the Staunton area. We had 3 Klines near us and we frequented them and never had issues. I try to leave good reviews when something is good and I leave grace if I have a poor experience somewhere because I understand having an off day. I've been to this location 3 times and it's been terrible every. single. time. And I always say, "I'm not doing it again." This time it's true. I will not be back. Service is terrible. I have to ask for lids for to-go orders. The ice cream is ALWAYS melted as they're handing it to you. Like- if I wanted a milkshake I would just order one. It's a waste of money. It drips everywhere, makes a mess, you have to eat it quicker than you can breathe. It's not enjoyable. And it has nothing to do with the temp outside. It's always that way. I asked for a cone on the side with the to-go ice cream and they just handed it to me - no bag, no asking if I wanted it in a bag. (And I know they have them.) It's just annoying. Conveniently located off Hull Street Rd, but... parking is frustrating (tight lot with spaces on top of each other), limited ice cream flavors, and the seating area has been dirty the last two times we've visited. This place lived up to the hype! It just opened last Wednesday so they are still adding some things to the menu. However. Upon arrival you can either walk up or go through the drive through. We decided to go through the drive through. There were probably 5 cars in front of us but the line moved pretty quickly. The service was outstanding and the ice cream we had was on par if not better than the best in Richmond. The pricing is good and a nice variety. I had a strawberry milkshake and it was really good and my wife had a vanilla chocolate soft serve in a waffle cone. So good! We can't wait to come back. read more
