The entrance is quite odd. You walk in directly in front of the restrooms. There is a door to the left and the door to the restaurant on the right. Walking into the restaurant, the bar seating is directly in front. There is kind of a hallyway with two tables & 2 booths. If you go down that hall there is a larger seating area in the back. We chose a booth in the hallway. Our server came quickly and took our drink order. I got the "sweet" tea, which is not sweet at all. I ordered the special, chicken parmesan. The side salad was fresh & tasted good. The chicken parm came out nice & hot. The portion size was large. The chicken was tender, but the sauce had an odd taste. Our server was very good. Overall, a good dining experience. My dining partner ordered the cheesesteak sub & really enjoyed it. The sub was packed with meat. read more

Klines is one of those places you walk into and it feels like everything good about Cumberland. They have the best specials.

I'm forced to give at least give 1 star. I got the crab cake that had no flavor and just had minimum crab to call legally call it a crab cake. It was cooked unevenly as you can see from the picture. The middle was the consistency of cat food. There's nothing else to compare it to. I will not be going back for dinner any time soon. Servers need to smile. read more

We were seated and ordered very quickly, and got hot coffee. That's where the service ended. We sat for 50 minutes without any acknowledgement, so my husband went to ask at the waitress station he was pretty much told they're busy and go sit down. Five minutes later the 2 breakfast sandwiches were dropped off. My toast was cold and home fries cold and barely cooked YUCK. Never asked how our food was and since we were starving we ate some food. Awesome. We stopped here on our way to WV. It was 9:30am and you could order full menu. We had a mix of breakfast and burgers. Burgers were hand made Pattie's and delicious. I grew up in this small town and during a recent visit opted for a taste of nostalgia, so to speak. What a mistake. I check Yelp everywhere I go, but it didn't occur to me to check this place's reviews seeing as apparently I've been here before. After all, I came here as a kid, so it must be good, right? Nope. I ordered "The Ultimate" which is $9.50 for two eggs, two pancakes, 3 strips of bacon, home fries and an order of toast. I wasn't feeling that hungry, but I like to try what appear to be signature dishes on the menu, and with a name like Ultimate, it certainly must be amazing. Where do I start? The home fries: the most disgusting thing I've ever put in my mouth; I had to stop at a convenience store to purchase a pack of gum just to get the horrible taste out of my mouth. I tried covering them in ketchup in a useless attempt to ingest the energy I'd need for the hike I was about to take, but ultimately was unable to have a second bite. The pancakes: undercooked and wet, had 1 bite The bacon: perfect, the only thing I enjoyed, which is saying a lot since I normally don't eat bacon, but when I asked for sausage instead I was told "The Ultimate" does not allow substitutions The eggs: overcooked, but ate them anyway The toast: smothered in butter, ate it anyway, since I wanted the carbs The coffee: burnt like it had been sitting for days; how disappointing they can't even serve a mediocre cup of coffee! The waitress was nice enough, but when she carried away the entire plate of food she had dropped off only a few minutes before, she didn't make a single comment when she noticed I ate almost nothing. This is a great place to stop for a homemade, down to earth meal. It's casual and reasonably priced. It's a local favorite in an area with all the 'normal' restaurants available, as well as a lot of specialty places. In this area it's easy to get great food because we have culinary schools in both our local college and university, but this is the place to come if you want to relax, tarry over your meal, be treated like family, and not feel rushed to finish. And, it's THE BEST COFFEE around. The specials are always good, a substantial amount, and changed enough to allow variety if you want to leave the old favorites behind. Pies generally off the charts. Ask for Jeanie's cakes! Try the peanutbutter blossom cookies on the way out. These are just plain pleasant people, who care about the people around them, and that makes this worth the stop, even if it's only for coffee and dessert. read more

Stumbled upon this Diner/Restaurant for a late morning breakfast this past weekend while on a long motorcycle ride. Yes it's old looking...so what. The pancakes, home-fries, and bacon were good and cheap. The coffee...strong and burnt. The large wait staff (all female and about 9 or 10 strong, seemed constantly moving around. Lucky for me I got the only one younger than 60....She was about 35, focused, efficient and quite attractive. This is certainly a mostly locals place with a working class atmosphere. 2.5 stars. This is a family restaurant off the beaten path that clearly caters to locals. The crowd is a bit rougher than what you would find with a regular diner. I was leered at most of the time we were there. Our waitress was surly at best. Cute little local diner establishment, great friendly staff. Love the fact they serve butter beans and navy bean soup. They home made pies are amazing. Many many varieties to choose from. Yep, this must be the only place some people eat because they wouldn't eat here if they could compare it to anyplace else! Asked the waitress what sandwiches she would recommend (WHY do I do that? - they usually tell you the most expensive = better tip). Hamburger (??) and turkey club. Got a bowl (which was a cup) of butter bean soup - the worst soup ever. Waited, and waited and waited. And were ignored by waitress. Finally, had to actually get up, and asked when she thought the sandwiches would be coming = "well, they've got to cook the hamburger." Must be REAL well done by then! After another 5 minutes, she came over and said they didn't have any turkey (for a popular sandwich?), and we could SPLIT the hamburger. We left. Not a good experience. Love this place! The younger waitresses are stellar, hardworking, & care about their jobs. The food is delicious & is done relatively quickly. The owner, Gary, is very friendly & one of the nicest people you'll ever meet. He works everyday & is constantly trying to make sure the customer has the best experience possible. Horrible! A restaurant that looks about 50 years old inside and out and never updated . That wouldn't be so bad if the place was clean & the food was good. The food was awful , service slow and the clean factor very sketchy. The bathroom was filthy . Out booth had dried food stuck all over it , the carpet was dirty and duct taped down to keep you from breaking your neck. The ceiling tiles were all stained from roof leaks. Seriously ?? How do places like this stay in business ? We had an early breakfast and hadn't eaten all day so we stopped before a three hour ride home. Big Mistake!! read more
