I bathed them several times and tried to get their hair knots and matted hair brushed out and I barely made a dent. They really saved the day for their meet and greets tomorrow and now I feel more than confident they will be adopted! They did such an amazing job on the fosters that my roommate asked if they could squeeze his dog in. They did so great with him! He stinks after his baths - no matter what we do ... but after his bath with them he smells amazing! She wasn't able to take down my info and requested that I text her instead. 2 stars I asked her if she was able to give me a courtesy reminder call and she agreed - but on the day of - she forgot. The scheduled appointment was for 11am - and she arrived late (11:20am). 1 star She jumped out of the van and immediately acknowledged Gizmo. My first impression was that she was cute and young looking but dressed professionally and appropriate. Professional with a boho / punk sort of twist - maybe it was the large chunky streaks of purple hair pulled back in a pony tail. 5 stars She did a rather lengthy but informal interview where we discussed Gizmo's temperament & normal grooming routine. We also discussed my expectations - I asked her to shave his paw pads down as low as she could safely take them - I even showed her pictures so that she would see how they typically look after a visit with a competent groomer. I also requested that she shave his sani areas and belly. 5 stars She appeared to be a kind, caring and knowledgeable individual. She IS knowledgeable. When I commented on how young she looked - she told me she's been grooming for FIFTEEN years. 5 stars The van was equipped with a reservoir that holds 75 gallons of water - so there was no need for a hose hook-up - but they do plug into your electricity. 5 stars for not wasting water or polluting the environment using a generator. The price on her website says baths START at $35. On the phone - she said price was $35. I remember asking her if she was sure because she was so far away from me. And I distinctly remember it because I told her I used to work 'out that way' about a decade ago and it was 39 niles unless she took the 'back way' and she said she would take the 'back way' and always does. Today - before she got started - I asked her what the price was - just to be certain, and she said $45. I wasn't sure if he's $45 (instead of $35 'start at' price) because of his long hair, or because I'm a little further away from her than her routine clients. I probably should have gotten a text confirmation. Honestly - I didn't argue with her because $45 was more than reasonable - but I mention it here because she did change the price on me. She did also mention that when people schedule routine grooming - the price per visit is lower. 2 stars She completed the grooming very quickly. 5 stars I wasn't thrilled with the end result. Paw pads did not look good. Tops or bottoms. She did 'fix' the tops and take the paw pads down more after I asked her to - but I honestly felt like she was under the impression that I didn't mind risking harming Gizmo's paw pads to get the 'look' that I wanted. I told her not to take them down any further if she didn't feel comfortable doing so. But she had her assistant hold him to keep him calm and steady and she took care of it. Primarily though - I was disappointed because Gizmo's coat wasn't as fluffy as it typically is after a fresh grooming. And the hair behind his ears was wavy and crinkly. Plus his belly wasn't shaved as low and 'clean' as I'm used to. She did explain that the straight, fluffy look I'm used to comes from the dog being placed in a blower box and she used a forced air dryer (she explained further but I think I've provided MORE than enough detail here.) She also explained that shaving him too low can give him razor burn. 2 stars That nets a cumulative rating of 3.5. So I'll list them as 3 stars - A-OK!

She charged $35 to trim my dog's nails because he was "challenging". He is the most chilled dog (small dog with small nails) I said, but it's $25 for a nail clipping. She rudely replied, your dog was difficult. I was there the whole time and never heard him make a sound. I said, I apologize and would have stepped back there if I knew. So where does it state that you can up charge at your discretion? They lost a long time customer today. I was shocked at her behavior but more shocked that they can charge what they choose.

Scheduled my appointment with her spoke with her on the phone, spoke with her via text and all the times I communicated with her I mentioned numerous of times about matting and how badly matted my dog was due to me just having a baby we had to hold off on the groomers expense. I stated this to her and she mentioned she would be able to demat him no problem. Never asked for pictures never communicated that it could be a possibility that she wouldn't be able to do it. Etc. Instead, she secured my appointment and waited until the day of when I arrived to tell me that she wasn't going to be able to demat him due to liability concerns. I feel like it was a load of crap because she waited until the day of the appointment, have me drive all the way to her just for her to tell me she won't be able to do it. I reached out to her via text because thats how we've been communicating and I stated my concerns to her regarding how I felt as a client and she didn't respond which says enough to me. I sent Hachii to his vet and other groomers and no one had an issue with grooming him, it was finding a groomer with a reasonable price, which we were able to do, by the way. And Hachii is doing fabulous and looks so good and we're so happy to have him back in good condition. Just wish she would of told me to send pictures in prior to his appointment of his condition before having me drive all the way to her just to turn me away.

From a Longtime Customer -- Very Disappointed in How This Was Handled…read more We began using Couture Pet Grooming in December 2023 after my mother's elderly Black Labrador mix, Thunder, came to live with us in Southern California. For approximately 30 months, we were very satisfied with the grooming services Thunder received. Until this incident, I would have gladly given Couture five stars and recommended them to others. Unfortunately, our experience involving a future boarding reservation completely changed my opinion. We arranged for Couture to board Thunder for an upcoming family vacation. We were quoted $455 for seven nights plus one day of daycare, with a 50% deposit required to hold the reservation. On June 25, 2026--approximately 120 days before the scheduled boarding--I paid $255 by Zelle, which was actually more than the requested 50% deposit. Tragically, Thunder's health deteriorated significantly. At approximately 15 years old, he could no longer stand or move normally and was experiencing several age-related health problems. After consultation with family and Animal Control, we made the extremely difficult and humane decision to have Thunder put to sleep on August 3, 2026. The following day, approximately 83 days before the scheduled boarding, we notified Couture of Thunder's death, cancelled the reservation, and requested the return of our $255 deposit. We were told: "The deposit is non refundable. We keep deposit to hold dates and it is non refundable." This was extremely disappointing. In the boarding correspondence we received before paying the deposit, we were told that a 50% deposit was required to hold the dates, but we were not told that the deposit was nonrefundable. Had that condition been clearly disclosed to me beforehand, I would not have paid $255 approximately four months in advance. I subsequently requested a receipt and invoice regarding the transaction and was told one would be provided. As of the date of this review, I have not received it. This is especially difficult because we were not cancelling for convenience or because our vacation plans changed. Thunder died. We cancelled approximately 83 days before his scheduled stay. I recognize and appreciate the satisfactory grooming services Couture provided Thunder over the years. Unfortunately, the way this final matter was handled after the death of a longtime customer's pet has overshadowed those positive experiences. Our family lost a beloved companion. Under these circumstances, and based on how our $255 deposit was handled, I can no longer recommend Couture Pet Grooming.
