Love this place! This is one of the best KBBQ places in SD...we always have the best here. Excellent selection all the traditional meats, and they have seafood too!! Always high quality meat, my favorites are the short ribs and bulgogi, thats what I always start with and then work my way to seafood. There's a wide range of veggies and side dishes. They have the usual beer and soju for KBBQ and it's super are cheap! For non-alcoholic bev, they have boba and Thai iced tea, which is my favorite. Pro tip: they serve Thrifty ice cream!! You'll have to ask the wait staff to scoop it for you. It's up front by the front entrance so don't forget because it's sooo good! By far the worst Korean BBQ I've ever had. I actually spit out the meat 3 times. The rib eye meat tasted very off. I suspect it's old or gone bad. I thought it maybe just a bad piece but no every bite I tried was bad. The brisket was SO TOUGH. Also had to spit it out. We gave up and just asked for the bill and left. This place is great. There was no wait on a Tuesday lunch. In fact it was kind of empty. The selection of the food isn't the most, the kalbi was like in weird shapes, but they were delicious. You get your own sauces and they had available tons of veggies, marinated beef, pork and chicken selections. It's not exactly the most premium place, but the fact that it's an ayce for $21.99, it's a freaking deal. The soda's are $2.99 with unlimited refills so I got my root beer game on and it got wild with 3-4 refills and me consuming like 10-13 kalbi and 10 shrimps. I took no prisoners along with boat load of lettuce. The lettuce was fresh as I laid the meat with their house hot sauce and it was unreal. Came to have dinner with a friends today (10/4) we did not leave a tip, because we served ourselves and only had water. when it came to pay we didn't leave a tip and every staff member look at us weird and talked bad about us in their own language. It runs very efficiently with a buffet style of service that lets you get the food and seasonings you want with no middle man, allowing for smooth experience with practically no wait time. I've eaten here about 5-6 times now and it has always been a great experience every single time. The servers are very observant and before you know it, your dirty dishes are gone. I came here with husband and 2 friends one Friday evening and were seated without a wait. Unlike many other ayce Korean bbq places where servers take your meat order, this was in a serve yourself at a buffet of raw meats and seafoods. They also had a wide variety of side dishes which were also serve yourself. The staff working there were friendly and it was a good time. This is my regular spot for Korean bbq. It's AYCE and self-serve which is great since you can control the amount you get. The variety of meats and sides are great for the price. The staff is super on it, constantly refilling anything in the self-serve area as well as on our table. They're attentive to what you need and are quick to do grill changes. We went on mother's day night. There was no waiting. The place is fairly new. Compared to other Korean bbq places, you get up to get the food. But other than that it was the same. What is nice is you don't have to wait to get the meat to bbq. The folks there made sure you have clean grills. They did not have rice paper but all the sauces salts condiments are there. Cost wise there is a charge for the food and a charge for the drinks. It's within a $1 or 2 of Gaja a few blocks away. Lots of parking available. This is a less than average k bbq restaurant. They only have all you can eat and it's buffet style. The shrimp is frozen and not cleaned. I don't mind the shell but at least get rid of the poop line! Impossible to clean once cooked. The banchan sides do not seem fresh - the kimchi looked sad. Not much service and they tack on an automatic 20% tip. The sesame balls and fried dough were good. Oceanside does not have the largest selection of kbbq restaurants, but we found this one in the area and called ahead to see how busy. Luckily, it had no wait and we got seated immediately for a table of 2. As soon as you walk in you can tell it's a big family spot for dinners and lots of big groups with kids were there on a Friday night. Instead of you ordering rounds of meat or sides, you actually go grab it buffet style! I thought this was so fun and interactive and ensured I wasn't wasting anything. Though this is not the most traditional way of having kbbq, I think it was a fun experience and I loved the customization of it all. They have all the classic cuts of meat and seafood, spicy options, and veggies to grill. The meat is all frozen in containers you grab from and are definitely not the greatest quality. After cooking them they were pretty tough and chewy. Other than the basic sides (kimchi, pickled radish, fish cakes, etc.) they had gyoza, miso soup, and sesame balls. I think the funnest thing of the night was their 10 second timer that you try and press to land on exactly 10.00 for a free AYCE next visit. Everyone gets to push it for a chance to win. The service is pretty busy attending to all the tables they do forget about you and paying the check. I think if you want a fun/different experience or just want fast kbbq without the hour long wait this is a good back up but just know the meat isn't going to be the best quality, nor the atmosphere (not trendy or young people if you care for that). read more

This was my second time trying Korean BBQ and I'm super glad that my very experienced friend brought me here to M BBQ. M BBQ is conveniently located in a small shopping center just off of El Camino in Oceanside, California. This was my first time here and I totally enjoyed my dining experience. Thank goodness we could dine inside even though we are undergoing many Covid restrictions. Because we were able to eat inside and the lunch rush-hour was over, there was ample seating and distancing for us. Dining inside also meant we had access to an overhead-fan and a more traditional heating surface to cook on. The decor was Asian-inspired and simple (nothing flashy) and one could see the buffet station and kitchen from the dining area. Although the buffet was closed, it was good to know they had these options. This is still all new to me, so I enjoyed all of it. The service was friendly, fast and efficient and everyone was safe with masks and gloves. They also returned often to check on us to see if we were satisfied. We ordered a plethora of meats and were given 4 sides. I'm totally glad that my friends knew how to cook the food and multitask and my only responsibility was to EAT! Hahahahaha!! We had mushrooms, pork belly, shrimp, squid, octopus, meat, meat, MEAT!! What truly impressed me is that we stuffed ourselves in true ALL-YOU-CAN EAT fashion and it only costed us no more than $18 each!! AMAZING!!! I moved to San Diego from the Bay Area about 2 years ago now and this place is the closest I've found to real kbbq. I love the buffet station for getting meat! Sometimes I want to try a new style without getting a whole plate of it and I think it really helps when you're making your own portion size. The staff is friendly and attentive, but seriously I love that I don't need to ask for lettuce or veggies. It's all right there! They don't have as many meat options as other places in the area but I don't think they need them. The meat they have is good and fresh and grills up beautifully. We managed to find this place by accident. We originally were heading to another kbbq spot until we realized the wait time was over 2 hours! To our surprise, we found this spot. We were shocked that there was zero wait time and also skeptical. However, we still decided to give it a shot since we were both hungry. I'm so glad we did!! Really recommend this place! They have a salad bar for the meat and they always replace the meat if it's been out there for 10 minutes. They also have a big thing of bowls, chili, ketchup and mustard because they also have hot dog meat cut up. They also have a really nice grill that you can switch out if it gets dirty. When the check comes but I don't know if it was from Valentine's Day but they give you candy. they have a button that you can press exactly on 10 seconds and you get a free meal the next time you go. But enough about others... The girls there are nice. I thought it was odd st first because usually your table has all the sides, but not here. One of the girls said we get up and go our own food and bring it back to the table. What Is this I thought to myself, but I loved it! I don't have to walt on someone to come back and take my order. I don't have to second guess myself if they understood what I said correctly. This is just totally fantastic!! They have 3 refrigerated carts holding the meat & seafood, veggies, and Toppings. Then there is a table with the sauces, rice, and pot stickers. I just wish I saw steamed egg, but maybe I have to ask for that. The girls are nice and pay attention to you so they come by if they see your struggling or need a new grill. They're very prompt. I really love this place. I ordered a plum soju and it was delicious. 13% hits you nicely with the tasty food. Nothing was over powering, good looked and tasted fresh. Rice was nice and soft yet fluffy. Where do I start? They have a projector sign that reads "koraen bbq". They felt too lazy or didn't care enough to turn it off or have it corrected. The meat was of lower quality and some cuts were very tough. The Bulgogi was too sweet and didn't look right, the color was off. The side dishes were right next to the raw meats. The tongs used to grab meats were sticky from falling into the container of meats and my sticky hands were forced to grab the side dishes. I felt grossed out. The kimchi was lacking color and flavor and the cucumber kimchi was too sweet. I want to know why the last five reviews were five stars?!? I was a little worried that I would get sick. For price, convenience, selection and service, M. BBQ gets a 4.5 from me. Visited family and they took me M. BBQ, a buffet-style Korean BBQ that is all you-can-eat. Staff is friendly and efficient. From the door, we were greeted warmly and they were taking care each table like clockwork. Because it is buffet style, all of the meat and seafood to cook at your table are in self serve carts. It's still the pandemic and masks are required and the patrons are all cooperative so I wasn't feeling nervous grabbing my food. I find that it is best to grab the non-marinated meats and to season it at your table. In one shelf, there are seasonings and condiments like sesame seed oil, shoyu and sriracha. We season the meat on the grill with the sesame seed oil and salt and pepper. I got the marinated kalbi ribs and as delicious as it is, it caramelized on my grill and the sugars in the marinated blackened the grill. I had my fill with the banchan, rice and the bbq and left the place happy and full. I will definitely request to come back here when I visit my family. read more

It is located in a strip mall, so it is a pretty casual place, definitely not too fancy. The food was tasty, and the service was good. It was not too crowded when I was there but there was a decent amount of people there, and the server still kept our table cleared and glasses full. Located in the plaza across from Target. This place is a great AYCE for middle shelf meat cuts. I read in other comments that it is run by Chinese owners so the marinade they use is much different from Korean. It has a more vinegar taste as Korean is sweeter with the use of Asian pear in their marinades. The meat cuts aren't the greatest. Short ribs was a lot of bone then meat. But they do have LAMB and Chinese donuts!!!! That was a happy shocker! I believe it was $29/person for dinner. Lots of seating available. The restaurant looks like it needs a face lift. Service was good but right when it hit 9:30 (closing) the lady came up to us and said "we're closed now".
