On a Friday 5:25 PM: Got from work to a warm house. Panicked as I am no rich man and I knew AC repairs are costly. Searched on the internet for realiable, and trusted AC repair shops. Found KMAC on Yelp and decided to give ithem a call. 5:35 PM: Called KMAC, described the problem (Compressor running. External fan not running). They said they were going to try to reach a technician and find out if there were not already heading home and then call me back. 5:40 PM: They called me back saying that a technician was on his way to check the issue. 6:15 PM: A capacitor was replaced and the AC started to work again. 6:35 PM: Cool house, happy family. Every summer our AC goes out thanks to a leak. The last two summers I've waited 3 days for someone to come out and fix it (which is like waiting years in this Texas heat) My husband request an appointment with KMAC the night we realized something was wrong with the AC at around 10:30 pm. Kevin called us the very next morning before 8 am and was here by 8:30. By 9:30 my home was cold again. Cannot recommend Kevin and KMAC highly enough. I was in a bind the other day...out of town when my daughter called to say the AC was not working. Being 4-5 hours away, at noon on a toasty July afternoon, I started to panic. I called KMAC and they were awesome. They were so friendly on the initial phone call. Thirty minutes later, yes only thirty, Kevin called me to tell me the batteries on my thermostat were dead (big sigh of relief). He asked if he could replace them and then do a maintenance check on the unit. I happily agreed so he cleaned my condenser coils and replaced a capacitor. When it was over I was charged a mere $135. He very well could have told me I needed a brand new unit (since I wasn't there to verify) but he didn't. Honest, professional, and reasonable small business....perfect! We woke up this morning to an unusually warm house and discovered our AC was not working again. With all of the things going wrong lately, not a good start to the day. We called Kevin with KMAC and he was at our house 2 1/2 hours later. He fixed the capacitor this time (last time it was the fan motor) and got us up and running. He also gave us some tips on how to keep our AC working for as long as possible (it is a 14 year old system so we are trying to be realistic about its life expectancy) and he also checked up on other parts of the system to make sure there are no other issues currently. My A/C went out on a Thursday. KMAC sent a technician Friday morning at 9am! The gentleman was super friendly, immediately diagnosed the problem and recommended I contact the installer since it might still be under warranty. He didn't even charge me a diagnostic fee! This company, while honest, is incapable of diagnosing the entire unit. We recently had a frozen coil and asked them to test the entire system to determine if we needed to completely replace it or not. They recommended to just replace the coil. A few weeks later, the compressor went out, now the blower went out. We should have replaced the unit. Again, they did not try to sell me a gold plated unit, but they did not properly diagnose the problem. For example, i had to bring in another company to tell them that the compressor was out. read more

Kevin came highly recommended from a very difficult to please friend of mine and has now been out a couple of times to fix my ac over the last few years. This time, it died on August 28th as the temperature hit 112 in Austin. Lovely. I called Kevin's number at 7pm thinking I was going to leave a message at his office, but he answered. I knew he was going to be busy with this weather and he said "yeah, I am pretty backed up. I should be able to be there some time before noon tomorrow". So we only spent one night at my mother in law's! I know as much about air conditioning as I do about the inner workings of the Large Hadron Collider, but I've never felt as though Kevin were taking advantage of my ignorance and the price has always been less than I expected. The A/C went out in my house so I set out looking for a locally owned business, not some huge corporate chain. After a few calls and a little time on yelp, I came across Kevin. He was able to come out that day and within a few hours my A/C was up and running again. New capacitor and a recharge. Less than 3 weeks later, a loud squealing sound was coming from the inside fan. Texted Kevin on Sunday night and he was out again on Monday (Memorial Day). Quick diagnosis and repair work. No more noise. After years of using a large air conditioning service provider in Austin and signing up for their annual "premium" service contracts that turned into an annual sales call to sell me new air conditioner units, I finally grew tired and looked for an alternative, and found KMAC on yelp. Our upstairs unit was not cooling. Kevin came out and quickly identified the issue as an evaporator coil and replaced it the next day, quickly and at a fair price. He also did not believe that I needed a completely new AC unit (unlike my previous provider), so I was happy. Over the last few weeks, the AC unit has has a problem keeping the upstairs cooled during the extreme heat of the afternoon. I contacted Kevin to check to see if their was a potential leak anywhere. He came out the very next day, found and fixed the issue at no charge, and even checked my other AC units (and added some freon) while he was here. My upstairs is now nice and cool, despite the 100 degree temperature outside. Kevin is a good guy. Would definitely recommend as a much better alternative to the large corporate AC firms. read more

The fan on the outside portion of our AC unit was having trouble starting. I called Kevin early this morning (before 8:00 am) and left a message to schedule an apt. He quickly returned my call and asked how he could help. We discussed the issue and the troubleshooting I'd done so far and he was very friendly and easy to talk to. He came out a couple hours later and quickly diagnosed the problem (faulty fan motor capacitor). He had a replacement part with him and let me know that the part was under warranty so I'd only have to pay for the service visit. Everything was back up and running within about 15 minutes.
