We spent a few hours at the Vatican snd were looking for a place for lunch. Knick Knack Yoda had a cool sounding menu and it is right across the street from the Vatican area so we stopped in. We actually chose a table outside because it was a nice day. Nobody approached our table in about 5 minutes; so we decided to go in and ask for service. The gentleman inside said he didn't realize we were there and he came out with some menus for us. They had lots of cool sounding burgers and sandwiches; plus a full bar. I ordered a chicken sandwich that also had cheese, bacon, and barbecue sauce. It was really delicious! The bun was super fresh and the cheese was very melted. It came with thinly sliced, circular potato wedges. They were unusual; but just ok tasting. I also had a blonde beer which was recommended by our server. I really enjoyed the beer. My sister ordered a burger with cheese and bacon. She said it was good; but she didn't want to eat the bun and all the cheese stuck to it when she attempted to separate it. She also had a few Aperol spritzes which she said were really good. Overall we did like our food and they were served on cute little wooden plates. Although we initially wanted to dine outside; we realized it wasn't a great idea because we were continually hassled by African vendors selling bracelets. (There were literally at least 10 of them: however they all used the same corny sales pitch.). The food was great; and it came out rather quickly. If you want an outside dining experience: I would suggest you sit a little closer to the building. read more

This is where I ate my first burger in Italy... when everyone told me not to eat burgers while traveling there. Good thing I listened to my instincts and to Yelp! because this place really ruled! Here, I had one of the best burgers I had eaten in quite some time. This place offers up mostly burgers--either made with ground beef or sausage. We tried one of each, and both meats are super tasty! Beyond the tender, first-rate burger patties, however, are the speciality toppings they serve on their burgers. I'm pretty convinced after eating at Knick Knack that you probably can't go wrong with any of them! Tony tried the Nevermind Burger, which a number of Yelpers had raved about. I tried one with BBQ sauce and mushrooms. We went splitsies on burger halves so we could each try each other's concoctions. OMG! I just couldn't take it. Both were just utterly mouthwatering! Oh, how I wish this place were in my own back yard because I'd be there right now!!! Note that while this place is located pretty much right across from the Vatican, we found no tourists there. It's ok. Not sure why the reviews are so great. We went to a lot of places that were better. Although this place is fine. It's perfectly ok to go here- it's just not (for us, anyway) anywhere near a 4 or 5 star place. But it's definitely A-Ok. Honestly, I don't know if it's the "best burger in Rome"- is that like the best Schnitzel in Ottawa? It's a burger- and if you eat a lot of them in the states, it will be an ok burger. But it's not a Must DO- and the reviews made it seem that way. Sadness. read more

Also the chicken nuggets are special as they were covered in a something other than powder. I wouldn't say I like the chicken nuggets, but worth a try if you would like something special. I thought about making a list of my favorite burgers, but I realized there was only one BEST burger I've ever had in my life. And sadly, it is 4,279 miles away from New York City. In an attempt to reminisce my stay in Rome, Italy, I will point out that I discovered this little crazed burger joint about 3 weeks into my 5 week stay in Rome, and proceeded to come here everyday for a "snack". (Hence why I gained so much weight in Italy...) I don't specifically remember the names of any of the burgers here. But I do remember that they were perfectly cooked to medium rare with the best mushrooms and the best cheese. I came here often if not everyday with lots of friends who ordered extensively...so I'd say just to trust your intuition when here. The place is owned/managed (?!) by a mad scientist look-alike...which adds to the Knick Knack Yoda of the place. I miss it greatly. read more
