I raise and slaughter my own cattle pigs and chickens. I spent a good deal of time looking up places to eat near where we were staying and more than the Sistine chapel I was looking forward to this food. Others got food and left numerous times. My wife and I sat and waited 50 minutes for no food. We asked what happened to our food and they said it was ready. Again got exited waited 5 minutes later soggy cold chips were served. Got up to leave was told that there was a mistake but no explanation given as to what happened. They never bothered with our order and neither should you bother with them. Very sad day indeed. The fact that I'm taking my time to draft a review on holiday should say a lot. Avoid this place at all cost if your are not Italian.

Came here with my father and boyfriend. For two generations of Americans (btw Californians) to agree that this was one of the best burgers we've had, let alone in Europe, means a lot. Not to mention, best service we've had in Europe after being to 3 other countries in the past 4 weeks. Staff speaks perfect English and you'll never feel out of place. Also, very affordable if you do the build-it-yourself way. Absolutely loooooooved it!!!!

awesome burger. a bit skimpy on the toppings but you can really taste the quality of the meat which really makes it "good". i had the build your own with cheddar, red pepper, arugula. i ate it without the bun, it is filling by itself!

Literally the worst food in Rome 100%. Ordered a burger hoping it would come it juicy and tasty. I was wrong. Dry, tasteless. I'm not sure why I ordered the nachos. It they sucked even more. Ordered a water which never arrived. Tried to explain my discontent to the server and all she said was thank you.

Open Baladin was on my list of the most popular bars in Rome on Yelp (in terms of number of reviews) and it was close to where we were at, so we made out way in the afternoon on a Friday. Ambiance (4/5): Open Baladin looks a lot different than your typical Roman establishment. Bright colors, quirky decor, and a beautiful bar area are some of the highlights here. We sat at a table as we wanted to avoid the bar stools (no back support so I've never been a fan). Service (3/5): Typical Italian service. Not terribly attentive or friendly but gets the job done. We had to track down our waiter once or twice to order a beer and close out but that's standard fare in Europe. Food (3/5): My partner in crime had a burger while I had a sandwich with proscuitto and cheese. Pretty much your typical Italian sandwich. Fresh and adequate. Though a bit overpriced. Drinks (4.5/5): This is the highlight. Open Baladin has a fantastic selection of beers including those that I would qualify outside of your typical run-of-the-mill. They have a Belgian beer section of the menu which is always an indication that a bar takes their beer seriously. And most interestingly, for me, they have grape beer . . . say what?! I had never heard of it either. Beer made with grapes, that's a first. While it's not something I would order often, I very much enjoyed trying something new and unique like this. And here I thought grapes were just used to make wine! If you're looking for a cool spot to grab a brew, with a fantastic beer list, and a different vibe than your typical Italian bar, make sure to check them out!

That being said, he wanted to try some beer bars during our time in Italy so we put a few on our agenda to check out. Open Baladin was one of these spots, and since we had some time before our dinner reservation we stopped here for some beer. Walking in, I was really impressed with the space - it's large with a combination of high tops and tables throughout the dining area. The back wall housed the bar which had bottles stacked up to the ceilings - this made for a really striking focal point. The color scheme was mostly dark woods and warm colors which fit well for being a beer bar. The menu had a large selection of beer, I decided to go with one of their holiday varieties which was quite good. They had a small food selection, and I specifically noticed they had a variety of homemade chips. These seemed like the ideal snack so I ordered some of their original variety which came with homemade ketchup. These were great - not greasy and the ketchup really made it something special. Service was good, everyone was friendly and overall we had a great experience at Open Baladin. Even if you're not the biggest beer drinker, there's enough variety to find something for most people, and the food shouldn't be overlooked.

Chris, the manager, speaks excellent English and he turned me onto a Belgian sour beer that had been aged over 10 years and was mindblowingly good! Missed it by one day…read more.. Continuing on my quest to eat non-Italian food in Italy (I'd been on a pasta bender and needed to get off for a little while), I found Brasserie 4:20. Beyond being impressed that the craft beer/burger scene in Rome resembled what it was in the States, I was shocked to find Roman bros. America, we have to do better at our exports. Alas, it's true. There are Roman bros and they congregate and work here. So, guys just be aware that if you come here, you service will come after any cute thing in a skirt that wants food/drink/whatever. The music is bro-y. The vibe is bro-y. It's a bro bar. That said, they have some good things to offer. Beyond connecting with bros from another continent, you come here for beer & burgers (and rock music and brownies but mostly beer & burgers). Despite not being much of a burger guy, I figured that 'when in Rome...'* Thing is, this burger didn't taste much like a lot of the ones I'd had back home. I ordered the angus burger with cheese, onions and pickle. The first thing I noticed was that the meat tasted much better than most of the burgers I'd had in the States. I don't know whether this was because of the angus beef or because we're not getting the real deal in the States. I'd had angus beef before. It didn't taste this good. Had I eaten beef like this regularly, I don't know that I could have given it up as easily. All this is to say that the beef wasn't as seasoned as it could have been. Salt & pepper before it's grilled, boys. That's all you need. Good quality beef. Needed more seasoning. To accompany my burger, I tried two beers: the Royal Brown and the Terzo Tempo. I don't know if styles change from country to country but I found the brown to taste more like a stout and my cream ale was REALLY light. This isn't to say that I didn't enjoy drinking them (well, the cream ale was a bit of a disappointment) but they provided a different taste profile than I was anticipating. I experienced all of this while sitting at the bar (the perfect vantage point, in my opinion). If in Rome and in need of a pasta/pizza break, head to 4:20. The bro vibe is real but such could/should be expected when eating angus beef burgers and drinking craft beer. *I told you it would be used more than once. I told you.
