The staff is amazing and always great vibes. The food is delicious 6.5 out of 10 times we have had some hiccups which is normal no place is perfect!!! They do try to fix things right away!! However the prices are a little much sandwich $10.95 + $1 hero + $1.10 tomatoes + $2.75 avacado(understandable) is $16 change is $4 over priced. I didn't want to get a beverage after. We have to be more reasonable for the clients if you want them to purchase more.

Very busy spot on a Sunday morning. Ordering took 20 minutes additional 20 for food prep. The three ofnus grabbed a table while we waited. There is plenty of indoor seating available. I tried a Luxory bagel on everything bagel. The bagel is thick nice crust, mellow flavor and very filling. My sandwich was loaded with avacado and super tasty. I also brought home a blueberry bagel for tomorrow. The sandwich cost 20$ the bagel 2$.

First off this place was packed so it a popular eatery. IMO, the bagels were just okay. They say they boiled but the 2 dozen we had were soft like a roll.

Great spot for bagels, I used to go whenever I was in the area . On a recent visit i saw that they have lots more items on the menu. - sandwiches, soups etc. They were near closing time so I picked up my TGTG order. they have a generous Too Good To Go offer - about 8 to12 assorted bagels . The bagels are great quality and delicious. Seating available. I must stop by to dine in and try the other menu items.

$18 for a bagel is crazy, especially for a sliver of lox. Definitely not worth $18. Workers are nice. Lots of places to sit and eat.

I think these may be the best bagels in Brooklyn. I'm almost regretting typing this since it means I'll have to officially give up gate keeping this spot. The bagels have a perfect chew, they're crispy on the bottom, and pillowy fresh in the center. Just get a dozen bagels with a few shmears and thank me later. Today I ordered a bagel with lox and the dill and cucumber cream cheese was reminiscent of tzatziki in the best way. If you're a bagel person, please order from here! PS: The earlier you order the better the selection! Oh, and the whitefish spread is sooo good.

Everything bagel with plain cream cheese

Very solid bagel spot. Got an everything bagel (untoasted) with plain cream cheese to try and it was great. The bagel seasoning was perfect and not too salty like a lot of places are. The cream cheese was light and fluffy and the cheese to bagel ratio was perfect. Will definitely be back soon!

Food was great and service was good as well wait time was about five minutes. Not bad considering the restaurant was busy at 930 in the morning.

I would say it was a 3.5/5 for me more than a 4, but I did round up because 3 is too low. I ordered an everything bagel, toasted with lox cream cheese. Although I appreciate the amount of cream cheese they gave me, for me personally, it was too much. I went a second time and ordered light cream cheese, and still got way too much. The taste of the everything bagel was slightly salty but not too bothersome. The texture of the bagel was incredible, perfectly fluffy! I want to give a special mention to the system they have in place. Other bagel shops in NY can be quite overwhelming when going up to order, but I greatly appreciate all the signs they have. I did have a short wait on Sunday afternoon but Monday afternoon there was no wait at all. Staff was friendly and place has seating. I did notice there is an extensive food menu, but I was only interested in the bagels.

    The American Grinder

I've been wanting to try Knickerbocker for a while as I've heard so many amazing things! Ordered the loxury plain and the American grinder. The bagels here are good, your typical dense yeasty bagels. I always forget to ask for my bagels toasted so this review is based on a non-toasted bagel. Loxury plain - SO good, but wish there was more lox. Even though when I ate it the ratio of filling was satisfactory, a bit more lox would have been nice. I felt like sometimes I would just get mouthfuls of tomato, onion, and CC. American grinder - this was ok. The meat was not super seasoned so I feel like it was missing a bit of flavor which is disappointing because they PACK on the meat. Also wish they would put more dressing to make it less dry. Overall, would come back if I was in the area but wouldn't travel far for it.

    Blueberry with blueberry cream cheese

Everything a New York City bagel should be. Fresh, fluffy, with a pleasant level of chew and shiny laminated exterior. Knickerbocker Bagel keeps the fresh bagels flowing all day long, and offers the best selection of schmears in town. Prices are low, and quality is high. I opted for an everything bagel with egg and vegetarian sausage, NYC deli style with American cheese, salt/pepper, and ketchup. Though I did not love the particular sausage they use, the sandwich was better than the sum of its parts. The blueberry bagel was not overly sweet, pairing perfectly with the blueberry cream cheese, which was packed with real blueberries and tasted of blueberry jam. They do not skimp on the schmear; it's more than you need, but certainly not more than you want. 10/10.

Good bagels. Big and fluffy. They do a high volume of bagels. Only good bagel place in this side of bushwick that makes their own bagels. Price can add up if you get lox etc. If you like the big round style of bagels then this is your jam. They have fresh squeezed OJ and seating inside. Also delivers.

As far as the customer service goes I wish it was a bit better. The staff aren't the most pleasant. No good morning no acknowledgement of comprehending what you order they just walk away and start the order. Which is why I double check always. I do notice they speak more pleasantly to other customers that come in. Not sure if it's a culture thing or could they be discriminatory but it's a bit unsettling. Food: 3.8/5 I only order the poppy seed bagel and that's pretty tasty. Not to doughy although I do have them take out a good portion of the bread because I like it to be extremely thin. Service: 3 /5 Service needs major improvements , language barriers are also a major factor to consider as they do speak Spanish and their primary language. Ambiance: 3/5 Standard & basic bagel shop set up. Standing & waiting area is basic they have counter tops should you want to stand inside and eat nothing fancy. They do have a wide variety of drinks to choose from and coffee and tea.

If you are in the neighborhood, you should pop in and buy something to show your respect. What you should buy is the herring. And specifically, if you happen to be lucky enough to stroll in during Holland Herring season in June/July, that is the herring to get. Even if you just had a giant meat based meal a couple doors down, you can still make room for one herring. Consider it the Jewish equivalent of surf and turf. Although one of my friends said visiting both LES icons was more akin to a "bang bang". Sometimes it's the small shops that make the biggest mark. This is certainly the case with R&D. The place is tiny, but the fish is mighty. I can't speak highly enough about the Holland Herring. So silky. So delicate. So much fun to eat. Held up by the tail, dragged through a mix of chopped onions and pickles, and lowered down into your awaiting mouth. These things are large. They are going to take a few good sized bites. Enjoy the contrast of textures and flavors. Tilting your head back to eat it almost demands that you close your eyes and savor every moment. Yes, the entire herring case is a marvel. While most folks will walk out of R&D with nova (what most people call lox, but is really cold smoked salmon), the real score is the sable and sturgeon. Or, if you are a salt lover, you can get legitimate belly lox here too. It satisfies the soul to see an appetizing store holding the line. Sure, you can put your smoked fish on a bagel or bialy with cream cheese. However, I submit that fish this good should really be enjoyed in its purest form. Maybe if you want to cut the salt, lay some on a thin piece of old world 100% rye bread. Not the squishy deli stuff, but the hard eastern European kind. Perhaps a dolop of sour cream. A few chives if feeling fancy. My old cantor used to love creamed herring with pickled onions on chunks of challah. If you go the herring route and it's not Holland Herring season, I fully endorse this approach. But don't sleep on the Holland Herring. Get one. Eat it on the bench outside or bring it across the street and eat it standing up in the park. I heard rumor that once upon a time folks would eat them right at the counter. That seems a little messy for my taste, but far be it from me to keep a herring lover from their delightful fishy morsels.

They clearly prioritize hygiene here. The interior is so spotless that it is pitiful!…read more On 6/20/26, I purchased food that I cannot get anywhere else: smoked trout mousse (relatively low in sodium), authentic pumpernickel bread (recommended for its comparatively low glycemic index), and in-house smoked Gaspe smoked salmon (relatively low in sodium). Everything tasted phenomenally good. Miguel had given me samples of some food so I could make a decision about what to purchase. This place is not the cheapest, but you're paying for top quality. You can't go wrong here. My customer experience was exceptional.
