It is a fun little local bar. Wish the kitchen wasn't closed down so that we could have eaten but overall we had a good time!

Good local dive bar. Boneless wings were okay. Not stove hot or spicy. Beer was good. Staff was very friendly and helpful.

All is good . Good customers, good staff good food and a great owner. Love the bar, parking lot sucks but that's the property owners deal.

We're a dive bar but it's steak night!" She told me that they have a steak dinner for $10.

Ok... I was raised in La Junta, Co. I grew up eating at a place called Mexico City Cafe. Totally a…read morefamily run place for like 40 hrs that I know of. My father was a good chef. I grew up eating tamales from Grandma Carrillo. The town grandma. The food here was different than I've ever had. It was good, hot and well presented. BUT, We asked about the green chili there and got a sample to try. My brother and I know our stuff about green chili. We've never had green chili like theirs. It wasn't green chili in our sense of the word. It was more like tons of sour cream with flavorings in it. No heat and (in my opinion) kind of blah. The Chipotle sauce on the enchiladas was very different as well. Same sort cream base. When my brother and I first asked about the chili, in all honesty the waitress had no clue what we meant by green chili. I'm thinking that their versions are related to different recipes from different parts of Mexico. If that makes sense. but.. don't get me wrong, it was very good. Nice place to eat.. but give me some more common Mexican food. There was not ONE TAMALE in the menu. No sopapillas. No vermicelli. No chili con carne. Of your looking to try a different type of Mexican food, go here because it is tasty. I can NOT say I had a bad meal..... it was just something different.

Service was good even on busy Saturday dinner and lots of big groups in main dining hall. Drinks were cold and some imported, I had a dunkel beer which paired well with Jägerschnitzel. Bread and salad served before meal that almost filled my tummy! Big portions. Food was delicious, and the pastries were awesome! We ordered 6 desserts to share and I absolutely love the raspberry moose. It's a great experience every time I go there!

Having lived in Germany we were curious about Edelweiss, a popular local German-themed restaurant…read more We were able to get a table at the last minute though it was unfortunately in a cellar which detracted from the experience. Edelweiss has a comprehensive menu offering a wide range of classic German fare as well as a great selection of German beers on tap. We started with half liters of the King Ludwig Weissbier and Warsteiner Dunkel and both were exceptional - clean, crisp, properly chilled and served in the appropriate glasses. Entrees were preceded by a German salad course which were standard Bohnengemuse, Rotkohl, Rote Beete, and Kartoffelsalat. The red cabbage was excellent but the other samples lacked freshness. In particular, the potato sald was rather bland and lacked the depth of flavor and piquancy one finds in a well crafted Swabian or Bavarian Kartoffelsalat. For our entrees we ordered the Weinerschnitzel a la Holstein and the Rouladen. The Schnitzel was excellent in quality and preparation - a definite winner. The Rouldaen, however, was tough and smothered in a bland gravy that was too starchy and lacked the umami kick one expects from a home made sauce. I suspect, the Rouladen was made in a large batch that was served over the course of time; mine was clearly old - likely frozen - and had not been prepared with the time necessary for a fall apart dish. We finshed with the Apple Streudel which redeemed the disappointment of the Rouladen. Flaky with natural apple tartness and a genrous helping of whipped cream. Overall, Edelweiss is ambitious in scope but somewhat lacking in execution. We recently reviewed on this site Mader's of Milwaukee which is an exceptional German restaurant so our experience was benchmarked against that standard. We do want to say that our server was attentive and properly spaced our meal. We recommend Edelweiss and suggest reservations as it is popular.
