I will also note this place is efficient -- almost to the point of making you feel like they want you gone. The minute my sister finished her drink, the bartender scooped it up. That said, the efficiency is also quite appreciated because a server broke a glass right next to our table and within 2 minutes it was cleaned up!

My husband told me he tried several times to get the attention of one of the ladies and she turned her back to him. Also an experience I had with the ladies last time I was here. There was an incident where a girl slipped on water that was puddled on the floor and fell face first, knocking herself unconscious for a couple of minutes during the set for post crucifixion, and only my husband and I helped her, despite there being security there. I even tried once more to get the attention of a gal behind the bar with short black hair to get a towel to pick up the spill and she would not even turn to face me. I cleaned the spill myself by reaching over the bar and grabbing napkins, since the employees didn't seem to care. That will be the last time I attend this venue. I don't believe they care about their patrons and the staff is pretty rude.

Kat and the bartenders and the great staff get 5 stars. They are all wonderful. I have had great times here up until a few months ago when I was treated with contempt by a rude Karaoke host. This individual who is a headbanger type and who wears gothic-style clothing was hosting that night. I go up to him to sign up to sing a song. I greet him to which he does not respond. The look on his face was that of a disinterested person. He tells me: "You know, it's going to be at least an hour before you sing" (as in "I don't want you to sing, go away"). That was very rude. I nonetheless sign up for a song and he calls me up to sing not even 20 minutes later (so much for the whole over an hour thing). Then I sing the song and give him a nod in appreciation to which he looks away and appears to roll his eyes back. Upon my completion of the song he says in a rather tired and disinterested tone: "So that was --- singing ---, it only took like four hours to sing!". This was extremely rude and condescending. I never went back after that. Not to mention there were a group of people in that front that night that were singing songs back to back. I think that it's important to treat paying customers very well, regardless of who they are or how much they are spending. Karaoke is supposed to be fun. I noticed that the clientele had become less fun and more stuck up and standoffish so that is also why I decided to come less frequently but this individual left a very bad taste in my mouth and did it for me. I feel bad leaving this bad review because otherwise they have earned a 5 in my book for the rest of the staff and excellent vibe. However maybe the times are a-changing as the neighborhood becomes more prosperous and gentrified this is becoming less of a dive bar atmosphere. I really enjoyed it while it was a more eclectic crowd and not a bunch of snoots. Maybe this new DJ is bringing in the money so whatever. Do what you gotta do. Congrats though on the re-opening and wishing you the best. However I will probably not be going back. read more

Let me start by saying ive only been to kobalts 3 times and this third time was not a good experience so in total i had 2 shots of patron and 1 margarita its currently 11:49 i left at 11:45 the douche waffle of a bartender refuse to serve me claiming signs of in toxication yet there where multiple people there longer than me including the drag queen contestants who he gave shots to than served wine you dont know me or mg drinking level to assume im drunk nor do you know my personality i can only assume though your a gay white man your racist or prejudice against me for being a black female and no i won't be back a forth time because your a douche bag :) this is my expirence as a straight black female trying to enjoy a few drinks on a off day so if your not a regular or if you dont know the bartender or if your not a gay man you wont be welcome here on weds i cant vouch for the other staff but the guy working tonight has a god complex read more

My favorite watering hole. I return to Kobalt time and time again, preferring it to the others. There are many good reasons. The traditional cocktails are made well. However the bar staff are quick to create concoctions for the curious. The marvelous bartenders and waitstaff consistently provide excellent service and they make me feel welcome. Kat and Ryan (the dears!) are especially stellar. They even know how to make a proper boulevardier! Kobalt management is lucky to have them. Excellent drinks provided with good friendly service in a fabulous ambience - isn't this the bottom line for a bar? I give Kobalt five stars. read more

If you are looking for a karaoke bar then this is the place you want to go. The stage and sound are second to none and you will definitely feel like a star singing here. Hands down the best Karaoke bar and possibly, bar in general, in Phoenix. It can be busy but the if you love to be in the spotlight then Kobalt has an awesome stage and sound system that beats any out there. I went here with a friend 2 Fridays ago. It was a fun place with cheaper drinks. I was surrounded by guys(it's a gay bar), but I didn't care. My friend and I had a blast and I met a lot of nice people! I would recommend they ditch the short tables on the patio and go with all high tops since it gets so crowded. read more

It was a really fun show, we went for DJs Love Language and I also liked Supertaste who came on afterwards. I had a blast dancing to their sets. I will just take off a star due to my experience of some of the other party people there were a bit rude, and that affects the overall vibe. The drinks were fine, nothing special, not outrageously expensive. I have no idea if they have food, we went to dance. I do love that there's a parking garage behind the club and there was plenty of street parking when we arrived at like 1030pm. It's a solid spot to dance. The servers were pleasant but not overly helpful basically a bunch of rebels, LOL. The sound inside is fairly decent but perhaps the band couldn't hear themselves so they kept turning up the sound! Luckily they had ear plugs at the bar. Also after standing up for a period of time my old legs were getting tired and also there was a wall of tall people standing in front of me so it was hard to see -- I walked toward the back and there were some tables! I did notice there was a large Native American presence which I notice a lot in that area of town, but never really found out why. In our second visit all tables were full so we both put our name on the white board but only my wife managed to play. Multiple people said they were next despite the writing on the wall. Eventually a couple left and we got our own table to play to our hearts content. I didnt see anyone eating food, so dont plan on curbing a hangover if you get to drunken or get the munchies. The bar tender for our second goaround was a real go getter with a smile and made us feel welcome. He really hustled to everyone in the bar running the place solo and still having time to chat and watch some pool festivities. We did have some guy hit on my wife despite the aforementioned syphilis and another seemingly alcoholic regular made an introduction tableside and looked a lot like the guy getting the ambulance ride the last time we were there. Last but not least they have karaoke on Thursday and Slayer in the juke box with a great sound system. Only really negatives were cash only for when my wife loses all our money at the casino, one brusuqe bartender, no food, and the patrons that knew each other stuck with the regulars for the most part and didnt openly invite or take on new billiards challengers.
