The meal come with your choice of entree, soup, salad with ginger dressing, shrimp appetizer, and a choice of either steam of fried rice. The soup and salad came out quickly. I love their ginger dressing, the flavor is not overwhelming. I got Steak and Calamari as my entree and fried rice. My boyfriend got Chicken and Scallops and fried rice. We both agree that our chicken and steak was dry. Our seafoods cooked perfectly on the other hand. The fried rice portion is big, bigger than Genji, but I feel like I want something more from the fried rice. Maybe some butter in the rice to make it flavorful? $3 add on for fried rice was quite expensive compared to Genji. They have 3 sauces of ginger, horseradish, and house sauce aeoli(?). Went here tonight with some friends for a birthday dinner. The place was its usual busy loud self. We got seated right on time, and didn't have to wait on anything. I got the Hibachi Shrimp. It was delicious as always. Five of the six dinners were delicious. The Calamari was a little bit too tough. Luckily the birthday boy didn't get the birthday gong treatment! The service was on-point from the start; we never had to ask for refills, (they had a girl assigned specifically to that task like many higher-end restaurants do)...appetizers were served promptly & hot. We had to wait 10 minutes beyond our reserved time, so I will start with what happened during the wait. We had full view of the bar and bartenders as we stood near the hostesses. The two bartenders displayed some of the most unsanitary practices we have ever seen. They touched everything in sight, from dirty glasses to cell phones, their hair and masks, without once washing their hands. The most egregious offense was when one of them picked up several dirty glasses from a serving tray by inserting her fingers inside the glasses. She then immediately grabbed a clean glass, poured a mixed drink and sat the filled glass down with her fingers near the brim (where the customers lips would soon be) without washing her hands. Any potential viruses or bacteria from several people were distributed throughout the bar via bottles and directly to a customer via the glass, just in that one instance. After being seated, we ordered an appetizer and our main courses. No drinks, not even water, after what we witnessed at the bar. Our chef was mildly entertaining and the food was just ok. Shrimp was good, steak was so-so and the chicken was dry. Vegetables were fresh but somewhat undercooked. The show put on by the chef seemed quite contrived and less than genuine. I can see were doing the same thing for each table night after night could reduce the level of excitement in your performance. Overall, the food was not on par with the price. The small entertainment value of watching our food being prepared was not enough to offset the negatives of the dining experience. Note to management: The effectiveness of wearing a mask is greatly reduced when you have two super spreaders behind the bar. read more

Went here for our daughters birthday most recently, but have been here quite a few times over the years. Depending on who your 'chef' is, I would say it can easily rank as a three star place, but the guy we had this time was a blast, and cooked our meal very well at the same time. I would say kids really like it, as the place was packed when we arrived, and 90% of the tables had kids. Basically you sit around a large cooktop, place your order (steak, chicken, shrimp, etc.) and your meal is prepared in front of you, with the chef cracking some jokes (usually the same stuff, but our guy went off script a bit so it was fun) flipping things in the air and performing little tricks as he goes. You end up with an Americanized Asian dish of meat, veggies and steamed or fried rice. Our meal this time was very good, the steak cooked well and very tender. The shrimp tends to get a bit over cooked, but they do save some to try and flip from the grill to your mouth. Overall, it is a decent meal, with a bit of entertainment to boot. Not only did the Kobe took money from that but also our visa to our checking account. Told by kobe to wait 3 business days and call back. After waiting 5 days three of which are business days. Hostess was asking for our reservation instead of greeting us first, I told her we didn't have one, we didn't have one the first time we came either- she said she would have to have us wait until a reservation didn't show up before we could be seated because they were basically "reservations only" now. NOWHERE on the website does it say this nor is there a sign, or anything. I looked online before we left and it says "walk in's welcome" obviously not. Definitely not the friendliest customer service based way to present that to us EVEN IF they actually were enforcing reservations only. We came here for my boyfriends 18th birthday and our homecoming dinner. We made reservations for 6pm and we came in at 5:50pm and they had us wait but it wasn't for very long. The server was very nice and didn't make us feel rushed when he got our drink order and our dinner order. He was refilling our glasses all night which was amazing. The cook was hilarious, very kind, and made the food taste amazing! By the time the cook was done we had already pretty much finished all of her food which we thought was awesome because we had some sort of entertainment as we were eating. Overall the dinner took way less time than we thought it was going to which also was awesome! The only thing I would say is that they did not do anything for the birthday other than just hand us the cheesecake but for anyone else who had birthdays they had brought out a birthday sign and something that they were banging on, which was the main reason why we had picked the place for his birthday dinner because we heard about them banging on something and bringing out a sign but they did not do that for us. My wife and I had dinner here with my brother and his wife early evening yesterday. The food was excellent. My wife had the tuna and thought it was a generous portion and tasted fantastic. I had the scallops and shrimp. I felt they were a little stingy on the scallops portion (4 sea scallops), but they provided a generous portion of shrimp. My food was delicious. I even ate the broccoli (which I've always felt was a "vile weed"), because of the spices they put on it and the way they prepared it. My brother has a shell fish allergy, so they accommodated him by preparing some of the seafood last. He had the steak and salmon, and his wife had the steak and shrimp. Both commented on how good their meals were. We had a 5 pm reservation, and were seated right on time. It was getting busy even there early on , even for a week day, so I recommend you arrive earlier rather than later, as the place was packed by the time we finished at 6:30 pm. We were lucky to have been seated with a very nice middle-aged couple and their two well behaved boys, which made for an enjoyable evening. Service was excellent! Our cook was very entertaining. About the only negative take away I have is that I felt their wine and whiskey pricing was a bit on the high side. read more

Came here last night with a group of 9 for a bachelorette party. We all had a really good experience and enjoyed our chef! He was super interactive and didn't just stick to their "routine". The chef made sure to keep the spotlight on the bachelorette, and for being her first time at Kobe, she really enjoyed her time. Since some of us have been here a few times in the past, we didn't feel any extreme redundancy in the show either. Our server was also awesome! He was very timely on our food and drink orders and I always appreciate a server who keeps the waters filled. I ordered a few shots throughout the night and he got them to us quickly. As for the food and drinks, the Mt.Fuji was delicious (frozen drink). The land and sea (steak and shrimp) was cooked perfectly. I like medium rare and I got medium rare. Sometimes the steak has gotten overcooked with my precious visits, but this time it was cooked how I ordered it. The food is a little over soy-sauced in opinion but it was still all very good. The fried rice is definitely a 10/10! It's hard not to eat all of it before the meat gets served! Only downfall of our experience was that our reservation was at 730 and we didn't get sat until 8. We notified the hostesses that our group went from 12 to 9 upon arrival, 7 of us were there and 2 were on their way. When talking to the hostesses, they came off passively rude and said "we'll talk when your whole group actually gets here". Working in the restaurant business for many years, I understand that your group often doesn't get sat until everyone is here or at least the majority. Understandable. But when our group arrived, hostess said that they were still getting our table "ready" and that we are second on the list. I assume that they just gave our table away because other walk-in groups were being sat before us.
