I was a little underwhelmed by my experience. For me, I don't love rolls with a lot of sauce. Everything we ordered except the salmon sashimi had the same sauce. The sushi was good but I like mine simple. We started with soup and a soft shell crab and the soup was excellent but crab had too much tempura batter. My husband and I dined in, the vegetable dumplings were so terribly mediocre. The main entree, chicken ramen was inedible. The Omaha Sushi Project takes on Ahi Sushi for stop #5!! We were immediately impressed with the super cute vibes! It reminded me of the sushi house in Monsters Inc! They are more than just a sushi place so the menu was extensive!! We split 3 rolls as usual - a classic roll and two specials. They definitely had a wide variety and pictures of some too! Only weird thing was the spicy annotation on rolls that had no spicy elements. We opted for the Fantasy Roll, Gold Point Roll, and the Star roll. They were all really great and had different characteristics so they didn't blend all together. Service was great and they all wore these super cute, punny Tshirts! Stopped in last night to get a quick bite to eat at Ahi Sushi & Ramen. I ordered the spicy garlic edamame and overall was happy with it. I get edamame at just about every sushi place I go. The flavor was good but nothing spectacular, probably not worth the $1.00. Next time I'll probably just get the regular edamame. The Philadelphia Roll was exactly as described, good clean fish, no questionable taste, not too heavy on the rice so you can actually enjoy the taste of the roll. The crunchy mango shrimp roll was good, but lacking the crunch. With the combination of mango, avocado and cucumber the tempura batter absorbed all the moisture so it had no crunch too it, there was toasted coconut on top which added a little bit of texture but that's about it. A little more crisp to the tempura batter would have been nice but overall still a tasty roll. The waitress was fantastic, service was speedy, even for a Friday night. While this restaurant didn't WOW with flavor it was still a good, tasty meal and I'll definitely be returning to try other things on the menu! read more

We strolled in for lunch and were quickly seated. As soon as we sat at our table we realized that our table was not very well balanced and extremely wobbly. So we went right to the sushi bar and sat there. No big deal. We always over order our sushi rolls and today was no exception. I think we ordered 7 rolls that way we have leftovers. A large order like that takes time to prepare, but our drinks were kept full the entire time and we chatted with the chef. Our server was great. The sushi was above and beyond most in the area. Everything was amazing. As we were leaving I asked the chef about the bubble tea and if I was missing anything. Turns out he and I share a love for Earl Gray and Oolong tea. He suggested the Earl Gray float with brown sugar bubbles. I have to say, just like the food he made for us, he nailed it. I think I'm obsessed now. There are several sushi joints around town and while I have been here many times, I had not enjoyed it as much as I did today. From now on. I ordered delivery today and as a non sushi eater I was sadly let down by Ahi. I wanted to try the chicken katsu which I knew came with sushi, but I can't eat any type of seafood. I wrote in the instructions for the dish and special notes to the restaurant to not include any seafood. However they didn't listen to either requests and still sent me Sushi in my Bento Box with seafood in it. Is it really too much to ask for none? Could have simply made it vegetarian and taken it out. People can be deathly allergic to fish and it was irresponsible to ignore my request however I know they read my notes because I also asked for no soup and they didn't give me any like I asked.. so they actively just ignored my request after reading it. Huge bummer especially with something as serious as food allergies that can hospitalize someone or worse. The smell itself from the box put me off because of the seafood but I did try the Gyoza which I also thought was VERY soggy. There was no crisp at all. They also gave me a all iceberg lettuce which I think is really unappetizing. It also is supposed to come with soup but I declined it, and comes with 2-3 green grapes, a slice of banana, and an apple slice. The chicken Katsu itself was pretty good but the experience of the rest of the bento box left me disappointed. I also tried the Cashew Chicken which was the complete opposite of the bento box because I actually enjoyed it. Not a huge rice eater but the fried rice was really yummy. The cashew chicken was perfect sized veggies and chicken and overall everything on the plate was good. The redeeming quality of my order for sure. I also ordered a Taro Boba Tea and I would recommend going elsewhere if you're in the mood for boba. It didn't taste much like taro at all and overall was pretty meh, I've had much better Taro boba in Omaha. This place is known for its sushi, and everyone who eats sushi seems to like it so this is mostly my experience as a non-sushi eater. I'm sure the sushi is great for those that eat it, but they do need to respect allergies and food requests when it comes to this especially if it's as easy as just not including it in the sushi when asked. My daughter and I stopped in for lunch and both ordered Bento Boxes. The Hot and Sour soup I ordered with mine was some of the best I've had! My daughter said her Egg Drop was "really good" and we both enjoyed the side salads with Carrot Ginger dressing. The Bento Boxes themselves we were a little torn on. Both of our Teriyakis were good (chicken for her and beef for me), as were the Gyoza. The California Rolls though were tiny and not very good (super mushy avocado) and that's probably the blandest Fried Rice I've ever had - definitely not worth the $1 upgrade. Takes awhile to check it all out. We knew we wanted sushi and maybe an appetizer so that's what we went in knowing we were going to get. We did get a appetizer of Crab Rangoon which we both thought was very good and my daughter got the Las Vegas roll and I got the New York roll we both very much enjoyed our sushi. The spicy tuna and spicy salmon rolls were slightly dry, maybe a bit too much of the the tempura flakes, or whatever the crunchy mixture they use...I prefer a bit more of a traditional roll. However, the tiger roll was killer with large portions of tuna and great flavor. The dynamite roll was your normal sauce-type roll, not my absolute favorite...but again, the fish in all of these was phenomenal, which is the reason for 4 stars. Overall happy with my order here. I had a very solid experience at Ahi Sushi and Grille and I would certainly come back for a cheap, high quality lunch. I had the Katsu bento and I enjoyed all of the normal bento fare- salad, sushi, tempura, and meat. I especially enjoyed the Katsu chicken; it was crispy and I liked the BBQ sauce that came with it. The popcorn chicken app was extremely good and I can't recommend that one enough. It was similar to a salt and pepper chicken from other Asian restaurants and they came in crispy bite sized pieces. The chicken teriyaki bento was good but nothing super special. I wish the chicken had a little more char but I also understand the logistics of this in takeout only. All in all, I would definitely go back to Ahi Sushi for lunch and it was an above average bento place in Omaha! read more
