I have ordered from Kochi three times in the past month. I like the Teppanaki noodles with chicken and shrimp with ginger sauce on the side. Don't forget to ask for the ginger sauce. It takes the dish to a whole new level of deliciousness. Broccoli and shredded carrots and other veggies are in the dish. It's very tasty and I usually have leftovers that tastes even better the next day after marinating in the juices overnight. I highly recommend Kochi by the Lake. Blandest hibachi food I've ever had. The rice was pretty much just long grain white rice with frozen peas and carrots. No flavor whatsoever. The protein was fine, I got chicken and steak. On par quality, but again, no flavor whatsoever. It tastes like it wasn't seasoned with anything at all and cooked in a splash of soy sauce. Here's what I like about Kochi. It's basically fast food hibachi and there's a drive-thru. I was running an errand and it was late. I was hungry and tired so I wanted to go to a drive-thru. Then I saw Kochi and figured I could get fast food with vegetables and an Asian flavor. The menu has a lot of hibachi and teriyaki choices along with sushi. Pretty much decide on a protein or combination of proteins and whether you want teriyaki or hibachi style. And you can get it with rice, extra veggies or noodles. Love that there is an all veggies option instead of carbs, but I was craving noodles. So I got the teppanyaki noodles with chicken and a drink. The drive-thru was a little slow and I had like five cars ahead of me, but my order was correct and I didn't have to get out of my car. When I got home, I was surprised at the portion sizes. You get a lot of food. Veggies and chicken was cooked fine. The noodles were more like spaghetti noodles, which was okay. It had more of a soy sauce stir-fry flavor. I dipped my chicken pieces in the shrimp sauce and that was good. Overall a good value for the money. With a drink, my meal was still under $10. read more

This not for the food, this is for the prices. I have been going here for years and just last year in November they went up on their prices and the next month they went up again! This is ridiculous! It's not much to spend over $40 here now and it used to be less than that. I know the price of everything has gone up, but there is no sense in going up on prices from one month to the next. We asked why the prices were different and the workers were like I don't know that the owner did not change it. The girls excuse was that I just pushed a button and that is what the price is. They now charge for tap water which is $1 each in a cup with a straw. I know there is inflation, but come on! If it was bottle of water I would understand, but no it is water straight from the sink. This place originally Sake Express. When it became Kochi by the Lake, it was essentially still sake, but with a different name. It's changed now. The food is okay, but there's a bunch of hand written notes in the lobby that basically tell you that there is no waiting service. So don't tip. Also they no longer serve sushi. Great big booths for family. They have patio seating outside as well. Lots of windows for natural light. Very kid friendly. But the food.. wow! We got some crab rangoon (which is on their seasonal menu) and Japanese spring rolls for appetizers. They were so good! I couldn't even take a picture of the spring rolls because they were gone in lickadee split. We got a few dishes for the table to share. Chicken and shrimp with fried rice combo, steak and fried rice, and flounder with brown rice. All were fantastic. We should have only gotten 2 plates to share because the portions were HUGE! We had to to-go! Also got 2 rolls of sushi which were extra fresh. I usually get sushi remorse after coming home and spending a few hours in the bathroom hugging my stomach but not at this place. We dine in but saw that they have a drive thru and it moved pretty fast. That's super convenient especially for a mom of 2 such as myself! I will definitely try the drive thru one of these days. We love Kochi! It's great that it's so close to our house and that there's a drive through! It's replaced pizza night at our house. I call up about 5-10 minutes before we are going to pick up our order, and it's ready to go, hot and fresh. Generous portions--I often save the other half of my meal for lunch the next day. Our favorites are the hibachi steak (upgraded to a filet because my husband is so extra) and Teppanyaki noodles with jumbo shrimp--the shrimp are always cooked just right. Hubby's steak (ordered medium rare) is always tasty and buttery tender. The sauteed veggies are always fresh and crisp--never soggy and overcooked. Sauces are are tasty, not overpowering, and they always give you that yummy shrimp sauce. We always order spring rolls (traditional fried type) and I love the Japanese spring roll (it's also cooked but it has cream cheese filling). Although we usually do take-out, we have dined in on occasion; and it's always an excellent experience. You order and pay at the counter, go find your table, and someone comes and takes your drink order and brings you the drink and food when it's ready. It's always very clean and all of the staff are very friendly and attentive. Sushi is just California-roll style, which is ok. I prefer nigiri and sashimi type sushi, but rolls will do when I'm craving sushi and can't get to Cherry down by the bridge. read more

I've had a few bad experiences with this business but I've held off of the review due to covid and due to the fact they mostly get it right. Today I placed an order and upon paying noticed the price on my receipt was more than the price posted. I expressed this to the staff and was told their was nothing they could do. I explained I understood what businesses have been faced with during the pandemic but I have worked through it as well and they should honor the price posted.
