This is a hipster coffee shop if I ever saw one. The name already gives that away to some extent. Coffee with a "K" is how I end up referring to this place, because otherwise I say "I'm going to Koffee" and people sometimes just think I haven't had my morning coffee yet and am speaking like an idiot. While Koffee has great coffee, chai, and pastries; they also have great sandwiches. I've been fortunate enough to have frequent catered events by Koffee at my workplace and the sandwiches never disappoint, the desserts never disappoint, the coffee doesn't disappoint, and the iced tea is next level. They take it to the top by having agave as a sweetener, and doing zero waste catering practices with all compostable plates and flatware. How great is that? Don't forget that they serve creamy oat milk, they have board games, they serve beer and wine (Just when you thought it couldn't get better, amirite???), and great vibes. Not so much of a Hidden Jem, it's located walking distance from Yale University where you can spot students, professors chilling and relaxing ... however you can also hear students complaining about select subjects or professors ;) We were able to snag seats at a perfect location but good luck finding a seat here as it can get crowded real fast ... They have food here however very limited quantity and more like snacks and finger foods : Salads looked ok, had various bagles, scones, sandwiches , saw some cookies and croissants as well ... I had the Nutella latte with whip cream , it was delicious !!! However I was told that chai latte (masala) was quiet horrible. I would highly recommend this place ... Great vibe, great staff, fantastic location! I could probably spend the entire day working and hanging out at Koffee? Their atmosphere is super chill and comfy; and they have a surprising amount of natural light in the back. They have tons of options on their menu, but my one complaint is the lack of milk options. Unfortunately, I'm allergic to the two they serve, so opted for a tea instead of the latte I was craving. But my Ginger Turmeric tea was delicious! Love the vibe of this coffee shop. The space is very unique and the coffee is good too. I was able to find parking easily right in front of the place on a weeknight. It was pretty full so while I went to grab a spot after ordering, my drink was ready and someone else grabbed it by mistake. No problem, they made me another one ASAP. The crowd was definitely college aged and the mood dark. It is a great place to study, get some work done, or catch up with a friend. The seating ranges from single chairs to a bar, to group tables. I had the Nutella latte and it was excellent! They were open until 10pm the night I was here and is one of the ones that stays open the latest. Oh and they do serve food as well. read more

If I had the imagine the perfect coffee shop to do work, Koffee would be my ideal space. The only problem: everyone else feels this way too! Good luck snagging a spot. If you get a seat before the early rush, you'll enjoy a variety of seating options. I enjoyed sitting at the table facing the window to the internal courtyard, but there are communal tables and armchairs, as well. There are plenty out outlets, and generally people are very conscientious of their fellow worker bees. The menu is also great. I loved the variety of muffin sizes, and their coffee drinks include some classics plus some twists, like the Nutella latte. There are more substantial food items to go, too, like a few sandwiches or a fruit cup. Koffee is certainly a hub for the community. Great for people watching, events, and coffee. read more

I went to this cafe for the first time yesterday after hearing good things from others. I work remotely so I was super excited by the comfy chairs and plenty of outlets. Then I went to the bathroom and saw this painting...a man smiling gleefully and flashing a "V" for victory with one hand while holding a Kalashnikov rifle in the other. Behind the man, a city lays in ruin, with broken shutters and debris smeared with blood. Whose blood has this man spilled? I desperately looked around for some placard explaining the context for this painting, thinking that maybe the artist had some deeper point that I missed, but found none. As someone who has been affected by war and whose loved ones have been the victim of America's gun violence epidemic, this painting was deeply upsetting. I went to Koffee to get some breakfast and work in a chill atmosphere, not to have my PTSD triggered. I sincerely hope that Duncan Goodall, the Yale alumnus who apparently owns Koffee, will reflect on how the choice to hang this painting affects patrons from marginalized communities who are more likely to have been the victim of violence. I hope that he removes the painting and implements a policy going forward that creates a more welcoming environment for all patrons. In the meantime, I will be going to one of the many other great local cafes in New Haven that seem to still believe in the wacky notion of peace. read more

A cute coffee shop on Audobon. I'm not that big of a coffee drinker and I haven't ordered coffee here, but I had their lavender lemonade and it was refreshing! Not too strong on the lavender taste, which I prefer. While you're here getting your coffee fix, you can also try a few of their pastries, from muffins to croissants. My favorites are their wide range of mini muffins that not only look adorable, but are also tasty! The ambiance of this cafe is very comfortable. There's a lot of space for people to sit down and eat, talk to friends, or do some work on your laptop. There's a lot of pillows and cushions so I definitely felt like I was at home. Depending on the time of the day, it might be more crowded. I went on a Monday mid-morning and there was a line, but it wasn't too long. The baristas were polite and the service is fast. This is more of a 4.5/5 review. The atmosphere at Koffee is nice for both working with background noise and for enjoying some drinks and conversation, as there's a well-lit room in the back for working and a front room with comfy seating. The drinks are good as well, and Koffee serves alcoholic drinks in the evening in addition to their normal menu. Their smoothies are so much better than the ones at Blue State, and in particular I'd recommend the Mango Smoothie, which seemed to be about a cup of cut mangos mixed with milk and four pumps of syrup for the small size. As it was pretty sweet, I'd maybe recommend asking them to cut down on the syrup. read more

I'm specifically writing a review about Koffee's catering: I had an absolutely fantastic experience working with Koffee catering for a symposium I put on at the Yale Medical School. I had a very specific budget I could work with, while expecting a large number of attendees, and Koffee catered (cough) to my every need. They provided coffee, breakfast, lunch, pastries, fruit, and everything I could ever wish for in a beautifully laid out spread. They were early with every delivery (might be worth noting if you do not want this, but I was happy to have everything before schedule). And extremely efficient at putting everything together. James was my email contact to coordinate the event and he was extremely responsive and understanding of my budget. The men that delivered the catering order were friendly and helpful, and it was genuinely a pleasure using their catering services. 10/10 would highly recommend always. read more

I was first familiar with them during my first time catering an event at the university. I am so impressed with the food, the setup, the efficiency of it all. And then, of course, I discover there is a cafe where you can get koffee. This time I was in the mood for a smoothie. Not a lot of options but nonetheless delicious. There are no straws. You can adopt one. I will one day, but not on this day last week. I just went back to my office and enjoyed my drink. Seems really comfy so I went back this past weekend to cop a squat, get something to eat and try the koffee. Tried this place yesterday on a whim! I saw this place had some great reviews and had good vibes and thought to try it out. We ordered a ginger snap, as well as a lavender lemonade. I cannot believe that I have written a review for Koffee so far. The vibe here is just fantastic. There always so many yo students getting their study done: writing papers, preparing for finals. I always just get so fueled up when I sit in coffee, because everyone around you is either in discussion of some really academic topic or busy typing their paper out. I really like the decoration of the room. They also have artistic paintings on the wall which are on sale. The mugs here are cute too. You can also get a 10 times punchcard so you can get one drink for free when they reached 10. read more

My favorite New Haven coffee shop, by far!! Maybe my favorite anywhere. Great drinks and food, great vibes, great seating.

I like tea better than coffee and am often disappointed when I can't get loose leaf tea at a respectable. Koffee, as well as the now extinct Koffee Too/Publick Cup, offers a great selection of delightful quality organic and fair trade loose leaf tea. The coffee is good as well, and I have found myself stopping in on more than one cold New Haven day to get a nice cup to warm my insides. The place is cozy with painted brick hung with artwork provided at least in part by local artists. My friend was featured as their Artist of the Month last year, and they had his photography on display. The space is nice and relaxing, and very conducive to long one-on-one conversations about love and mischief and the meaning of it all. The location is a bit convenient from downtown New Haven, but otherwise I don't have any complaints. Let's hope Blue State hasn't set its sights on Audubon. read more

I really like the hip mellow vibe here. It's next to a performing arts center so lots of creative souls here. A good place to study but they want you to buy something every hour of you plan to stay long. All the furniture like chairs are randomly assorted almost makes you feel like you are chilling in your living room. The chai tea delicious and the Nutella latte doesn't disappoint. The drinks are a must have but the food items I got were ok. I felt the muffin was a bit doughy compared to moist. I wish the Apple turnover had a bit more filling but still good to snack on. Great place to work, hang out, catch up with friends, or read your favorite book. Larger than the average coffee shop, with table seating, couches, and counter tabletops.
