If you are looking for ambience or service, this is not the restaurant for you. It is mostly grub hub take out, with about 8 tables. service was passable, but take-out gets the preference with the staff. None of these should be game breakers if you are looking for GREAT food. We had goat curry, dumplings, 2 types of naan, raita and a fried cheese desert. Everything except the basic naan was exceptional. The naan was a bit more brittle than I prefer. The goat curry was AMAZING. I am not a huge spicy heat fan, and it was perfect, as were the dumplings and the raita. Some of the best Indian food I have had ANYWHERE. This is an informal place but has some really good Indian food to offer. Catering to the student population, they have good prices and offer mostly freshly cooked meals. For a $1 extra, they will deliver. We ordered Peas+Paneer (Mattur Paneer) and Aloo Gobhi (potato and cauliflower) with wheat Rotis. Get this, the Rotis were freshly rolled and cooked - makes a big difference. Potatoes were chopped a little too big, which I have noticed, is usually the case when the cooks are from Nepal or Bangladesh. The entries are served with rice and they were quite good. We also ordered apps- good old samosas and deep-fried cheese in some sort of batter. Don't recommend the later deep-fried appetizer impersonating as cheese pakoras - didn't jive at all. If I could I would give this place 4.5 stars. I ordered delivery via UberEats here last night and holy WOW this is some good Indian food. I got the the lamb rogan josh and it was amazing! So full of flavor and the lamb was tender and delicious. I also had their chicken momo, which were equally flavorful and had the perfect balance of wrapping and filling. I especially loved that they didn't skimp on the heat; they were pretty spicy, as they should have been. Don't skimp on the sauce! The only reason Kohinoor doesn't earn the last star is because the devil is in the details. The naan reminds me more of pita, to be honest; it does not have that awesome, freshly baked crisp I'm used to having with my Indian food, and the raita (yogurt sauce) was strangely salty; not sour and fresh-tasting. These were the little things that I missed having with my otherwise delicious food! I never really gave this place a second look, even though I live not too far away, because I don't eat much Indian food (outside of what my job orders for us occasionally) and I wouldn't have any idea what to order. I ordered the following items: 1) Samosa Chat 2) Kadai Paneer (comes with basmati) 3) Mango Lassi 4) Cheesecake (not Indian but wanted something different). (Although I highly recommend gulab jamen) The samosa chat was delicious. The samoas was nicely cut and spread with the Chana masala and spices. It had a nice amount of yogurt and coriander chutney. It wasn't spicy but good flavour. The portions are large and very shareable. Lots of left overs. For the entree, I ordered the Kadai Paneer (asked for it to be very spicy) and to me it was more mild/moderate. It was nice to see there was a copious amount of Paneer and a good ratio to the amount of red and green peppers and onions along with the tomato cream sauce. It was garnished nicely with coriander. The ingredients were fresh and flavourful. I was impressed with how flavourful the peppers were and how they were cooked just right with some crisp left but now raw. Absolutely delicious! Could be spicier, but great flavour. This went well with the basmati rice. For the portion for the take out, there could be more rice, but still plenty of food. Lots to share. 2-3 people easily depending on how hungry you are! The mango lassi had enough mango yogurt flavour to go along and compliment the meal. A definite add on to go with the savoury flavours of the appetizer and meal. I would order from here again and get take out if I crave Indian food. I stopped in for the dine-in option as I was in the area, and decided to give it a try since my brunch plans ended up falling through. What a pleasant surprise! I was very hungry upon arrival and thankfully the food preparation time didn't take too long. I ordered the naan bread and chicken korma which came with long grain basmati rice. It was amazing. The heat level was very low so if you're trying not to test your palate with a hot dish, the medium spice level was great. I will say, however, to not judge this place based on appearances. My main complaint with most Indian places is that the dishes are either not spicy enough or too spicy. We were able to dial both dishes to be spiced exactly how we liked them. It arrived within a reasonable time (maybe 8:05-8:10 max) and the driver was courteous as they always are from this place. "No doorbell" was requested and although I saw the driver park and opened up, he looked ready to call instead of ringing it. I've been meaning to review Kohinoor ever since I first tried their food. Don't let the front of the store and dining area fool you, they have the best Indian and Nepali food I have ever had. It is such a small, quiet, low key restaurant but the food is fantastic. I especially have to write about their chicken momo. I have tried four different Nepali/Indian places for momo i Baltimore-Towson area, but Kohinoor's has the most flavorful momo, and the yellow sauce you get with it is out of this world. First time I had the sauce at a different restaurant, I didn't like it too much but Kohinoor mad me love that amazing yellow sauce. There's so much favor in that sauce I could put that on everything. Another favorite of mine is samosa, their samosa is fresh and crispy. best part about kohinoor is their prices, you get amazing food for a low price. Service is good too. The guy at the cash register is very nice, he always welcome you with a smile. I used to go here for lunch when I took summer classes, I have to say I didn't want to have anything else for lunch other than Kohinoors mom for that whole month. I have had a few of the items. To make it short, they have all been worthwhile, but the chicken tikka masala is enough of a standout to warrant special mention. The sauce is more of a deep red, tangy and delicious. If the Northern Parkway/York Road intersection is going to be a haven for takeouts, in the shadow of its classier neighbors at the Belvedere Market, they might as well do it right. I had one delivery snafu and they were very apologetic and comped part of the order and declined the tip. The saag dishes are excellent. As are the masala.
