Ordered the chicken tikka marsala for delivery. I'm always leery to try new indian spots, but I wanted something delivered and it seemed ok. I picked the most normal dish, one that isn't usually bad. I think I've been spoiled by my local indian spot (gateway pizza, sounds weird but it's amazing!) because I was far from impressed. The tikka marsala was yellow.. I'm tempted to think they sent me the butter chicken by mistake. Either way it didn't have much flavor and the rice was just plain rice. I ordered from here a few weeks ago and it was excellent. I ordered Chicken Tikka Masala which is my favorite dish ever and a side of naan. Everything was delicious. the Naan was the best I've had and the CTM was on point. Then I wanted it again last night and got the same exact order. The CTM sauce was almost red, maybe they put food coloring in twice instead of adding some flavoring? it was bland and the chicken was super chewy. Not sure if it was undercooked or what. The Naan was dry and almost like large crackers. The first time too, delivery took about an hour and 5 minutes. Yesterday took about 30-35. Not sure why the disparity. So I'm giving them 1 star for yesterday and 5 stars for a few weeks ago and just averaging it to a 3. I may in the future give them a third chance to redeem themselves though since the first time was worth the wait. read more

Delivery was fast, but the food was awful. Cheap ingredients. The tikka masala sauce was neon orange and the paneer was chewy. The momo were not as awful as the other dish but weren't good by any means. 24 hours later my digestive system is still reeling. Came here last week for lunch and was pretty impressed. Indian/Nepalese food in a hole-in-the-wall spot that used to be the Yeti restaurant right next door to Jerry's Belvedere. The food took a little while since there were only 2 guys in the place but we were the only ones there so if you're eating in take your time. Rogan josh was great. The lamb in it was excellent. Bhindi masala was great too. Baby okra was fresher than most places. The naan was excellent. Thick too. Everything we had was outstanding. Presentation was not their style though so don't be put off by your food coming out in plactic dishes and eating with plastic untinsels and hot tea in styrofoam cups. Mmm, good. Reliably tasty and inexpensively delivered. This is our go-to option on don't-feel-like-cooking nights. Our favorites are the really rich, creamy chicken dishes: Tikka Masala, Butter, Korma, and veggie samosas. Even our 3-yo loves it. Everything is generally good and we've tried most of the menu by now. Just one minor quibble: I wish they'd use finely grated rather than chopped ginger. A big chunk of ginger in the mouth overwhelms whatever else may be in there so I've discovered I have to eat those dishes (e.g., Vindaloo, Aloo Gobi - basically anything they serve in a reddish or brown sauce) with caution and pick the ginger out. read more

I used to love Kohinoor for its reliably good food, but I think the restaurant must have come under new ownership with a preference for short-cuts recently because my take out order tonight was terrible. Where the food used to be perfectly spiced, tonight our usual order of chana masala and muttar paneer was less than bland. The muttar paneer just tasted like store bought curry powder, and the chana masala tasted entirely of tomato with none of the usual garlic, ginger, or chili spice. The samosas were way too salty, and the roti was basically stale pita bread. Also the takeout packaging was different which I think is just an indication of the probable ownership change. I'm sad Kohinoor will no longer be my go-to because it had always been tasty and the service had always been fantastic, but I am definitely looking for a new spot after tonight. read more

I'm currently new to the area and was searching for some good indian food. I came across this place, which conveniently is down the street where I am staying. When I'm ordering from a new indian place, I usually get butter chicken...just to play it safe. So I went in and ordered the butter chicken and some naan to go. It was about $14 on the meal, which I felt is pretty average for Indian food. I went home, opened up my meal and was very disappointed with the portion. I felt like I got a sliver of butter chicken and the naan reminded me of basically pita bread..and less Naan consistency. I asked for the butter chicken to be medium in spice level and I felt like the spice level 2 wasn't even mild. That was pretty disappointing. Overall would I eat here again?..yes, for its quick and convenient. But if I had time....I'd try and find some place more tasty. read more

I definitely expected better (based off of these reviews). We ordered online, an hour in advance, and still had to wait. Somehow they still got the order wrong. I ordered the Chicken Tikka Misala and it was alright, but definitely not "voted best in baltimore" I've had a lot better. My wife had the Tika Masala and that was alright too. The biggest shock was the naan, we swore it was just pizza dough. We've never had naan that bad, especially when most places at least get that right. Definitely not what we hoped for. read more

This was really not a good experience. Was craving Malai Kofta, so I went in for carry out based on the other reviews here. Went home with fried chicken momo, malai kofta, shahi paneer and naan. The momo were the best part. The malai kofta and paneer honestly tasted like they were made with Cheesewhiz! So thick and nasty they weren't palatable. I ordered a chicken cheesesteak, well it was suppose to be a chicken steak, but I got a chicken sub which had slices of chicken in it which tasted like a veggie sub and the fries tasted like they were cooked yesterday or the grease they used was old, now this is the second time I went there, but the first time I ordered the lamb dish which was excellent, maybe I will stick to the lamb and not order anything else. Awful. They took an hour and 45 minutes to deliver my food less than a mile. I called the restaurant and they said that it would be there in two minutes. 25 minutes later it finally arrived. The driver didn't even get out of his car and parked far away from my building. When the food came, it was soggy, cold, and barely seasoned. The sauce they gave me for my pakoras was almost exactly like water. I couldn't even stomach it. Go anywhere else and save yourself a lot of trouble. read more
