Tell me why every time I'm at this Kohl's...I get NO cell phone reception at all! That's so annoying and inconvenient. This Kohl's is pretty organized. The customer service is good. Once it's getting busy and has those long ass lines, they cashiers don't work fast enough, or they don't have enough cashiers. I'm a Kohl's card harder, so I'm always getting those 15%-30% off coupons in the mail, so I'm always there. I love when I get the 10$ off any purchase! If you look in the newspapers, they have coupons for if you spend 20$ you get 10$ off. read more

I will only come here to do Amazon returns. I have never had a problem with the employees that work for Amazon. Kohl's employees, on the other hand, have HORRIBLE customer service. During Christmas I tried to buy 2 candles for my mom and on the display for the candles it had a sign that displayed 2 different discounts. One for "buy 1 get 1 1/2 off" and on the same display for "buy one get one free." I took a picture and proceeded to check out. When I was wrung up, the clerk said there were no discounts for the candles and I had to pay full price. So I showed her the picture and she called a manger over who seemed like she didn't want to be there. We both walked over to the sign and she told me that "this sign isn't supposed to be here." When the manager rang up the candles, she explained that people tamper with the signs. At this point she made it seem like I was the one who tampered with the sign, even though the sign is electronic and clearly displays the name of the product and the deal I should be getting. She continues to give me the "buy 1 get 1 1/2 off" instead of the "buy 1 get 1 free" deal. I questioned it and she said "NO. It's only 1/2 off 1 candle." She said this with an attitude and made it seem like I was stupid and I didn't know what I was talking about. Complete mess of a store. Super long lines and slow service. Especially the customer service section. The returns like will take hours. I don't recommend going there. Amazon/kohl's should consider having a separate line to make it go quicker. If it's done by smart phone I'm sure it would cut down on wait time. I love shopping at this Kohl's. This location has the best deals. They always have sales. I am always able to find something that I want. I have been to this location in the morning, first customer inside, one of the last costumers to leave, evening, weekend and week days. It is usually only messy in the evenings and sometimes the afternoons. The shoe section is pretty messy (except early morning). They have a great candle section. I love buying their candles when they are 50% off. The candles last a long time and smell good. They also make great gifts. My favorite thing about this store is their clearance section. Other stores do not have as good clearance items as this location. Kohl's return policy is the best I have ever seen. I have only returned two items and I have never had any problems. Customer services is always good. Cashier's are always friendly. I have never had any problems. I am always greeted nicely, asked if I found everything okay, and told "Have a nice day," upon leaving. Kohls store personnel push their customers to open a credit card to make purchase, to save 20% savings. She even taught me how to pay the balance off immediately, to avoid interest fees. But making that 20% savings on a 12 dollar shirt, affected my credit score. My attempt to gain any information regarding my account number, was futile. Even though I was asked a slough of identity questions, to verify who I am, I was still unable to obtain the kohls cc # from the Kohls representative, because of security issues. He could not email me a letter. until 14 days later, showing that card was closed, with zero balance. NOR could I get a faxed document from this Kohls representative, showing that account was closed with zero balance, until 10 to 15 days elapse.... due to security issues. But they can give me an 800 dollar credit limit over the phone, in 5 minutes. Your customer service has no customer service. read more

Edit (11/13/09): With this new update, I'm adding one star b/c it seems the service has improved somewhat and the store is less messy lately. This is the Kohl's closest to my neighborhood which is supposed to be one of the better neighborhoods in Elk Grove and yet this Kohl's is kind of messy and some of the sales people here kind of rude, so I don't know. Most of the time the people working there are helpful but I think they're quite overworked just trying to keep up with people throwing stuff all over the place and not trying to at least help the workers by rehanging clothes after taking them off the rack just to see that they don't like them. Anyway, besides the messiness this Kohl's is ok. I buy a lot of gifts for people here. I like their clearance racks and have founds some really good deals here. They also always have some kind of sale going on so that helps too. Kohl's is more upscale than Mervyn's of the past but lower than department stores in the Mall besides JC Penny which is about the same level as Kohl's. It's convenient for me to shop at Kohl's because I live close by and I don't have to drive all the way to the mall and deal with the crowds and teenagers hanging out there. Mayra rung up my things and I pulled out my coupons and store credit one by one. And she scanned them in as I pulled them out. I pulled out my kohls cash last and she was bothered by me not giving that to her first. How am I supposed to know which ones needed to be scanned first? I don't work here. She was so bothered as if there was a line and there wasn't anyone in line waiting. She said "you were supposed to give me this first. Now I have to return everything and do it again." 7/10/15 4:00pm: Danielle (stocky heavyset white woman with curly hair) had left the security tags on our items, so we had to go all the way back to the customer service desk she was at to get it taken care of. On top of her inept service (she didn't even think to seperate the already-rung purchases from the ones she rang) she had a gratingly condescending attitude. The sale price (on the bras) didn't ring up, so we had to tell her what was happening, as she was mindlessly, mechanically ringing up items, and wasn't paying attention. And she forgot to remove the bulky security tags to boot. Her demeanor was much more respectful when dealing with white customers, interestingly enough. When I came to tell her about her mistake, she gave me a canned apology, making the lame excuse of our "purchasing too many items" as a thinly-veiled jab. I informed her that 18 pieces of lingerie that didn't even fill a medium bag is not, in fact, "too many"...other employees were friendly & efficient at this location when bagging literally hundreds of items. I love Kohls! The customer service is always great to me and I have never had any issues returning things that just didn't work out. They are always having some great deals and give some good discounts with scratchers and kohls cash. This is my favorite location in the Sacramento Area. I have learned my lesson though, if i am going to shop here on a weekend I will go super early in the morning because this place gets packed. The only CON about this store is the cell phone service. Every Kohls that i have ever gone in has HORRIBLE phone service and my verizon usually works well everywhere. I could get a bunch of good clothes for cheap here with all the discounts and coupons they have all the time except I have one huge complaint. When I am shopping for pants, the racks are not organized. I mean the hangers that list the size don't even match the pants themselves. I wonder if the employees just hang up the pants on whatever hanger is available. It took me 30 minutes to find the correct size for black dress pants. Another thing, it's not the store's fault but I wish people would put away the clothes they don't need in the dressing rooms somewhere else. I don't want to touch undergarments or some shirts/pants someone left in there. Also what is up with the lines??? There should be an express line for people who purchase less than 3 items... of all the times I've been here (around 3 times because the lines here suck and I hate wasting my time standing in a line) the least amount of time I've ever waited in line here was 50 minutes!!! I am an avid Kohls customer and had a great appreciation for John the store manager after meeting him and the employees over this past year, however coming into the store today and overhearing two managers speaking about their employees in extremely demeaning and dehumanizing tones was very disappointing. there was use of racial profiling which was my tipping point that brought me to write this review. I understand difficulty with customers requires aggression at times, but to speak about your own employees this way who are trying their best during the holidays says a lot about management. I went in this weekend to buy some last minute gifts. The young man at the register was very, friendly, helpful and polite. There was a question regarding my method of payment and he called the store manager to assist him. The manager was helping another customer so he and I waited patiently for him to finish. The store manager zoomed by us and the associate called him over. I was surprised at how rude and impatient the manager was to him. When he was asked the question by the associate, the manager actually snapped at him and said, 'What are you asking?" "I don't know what you need". As the young man tried to explain, the manager looked at him with so much impatience. He was very RUDE. I stepped in and told him what I needed. He immediately changed his way of speaking and answered the question. When the manager left I told the associate how sorry I was that he was treated in such a condescending way. I could tell he was uncomfortable and embarrassed and kept repeating that it was okay. I have a feeling that this is how he (and maybe others) employees are treated. How sad. It's wrong when the cashiers try to force a credit card for Kohl's. Last month one forced me and I have not registered it. I have pulled up my big senior pants and yesterday I was with a friend and this cashier kept on telling her to get a credit card. She kept saying NO. I decided to help my friend and told the cashier she said no, and does not want one. Told the cashier about four times and she finally stopped. We needed a yellow button-up shirt for my son's Halloween costume and I did not want to pay too much... under $20. I usually just go to Marshals but that place has been a mess since COVID. So, I just ran to Kohl's and the place does look different since COVID, they have only one entrance/exit, only one set of registers open... but the line was not long only took 3 minutes to check out, everyone had masks, and all were kind no issues at all. And... FYI they have a ton of items on clearance 80% off! The racks of clearance were full of nice clothes not junk... take advantage of this! Pros: Always great deals! I don't shop at Kohl's often as I don't really shop for clothes, but whenever I do land here, there are always amazing deals!! Amazing! I was looking for some poufs for my home and found them on Kohls.com. They were already reasonably priced as it was on sale, and on top of that they had two promo codes to use AND gave Kohl's cash!! I ended up paying a very low price out the door. On top of that, they also send $10 gift cards with no minimum purchase through the mail. So you can get anything for under $10 Free! Cons: Slow cashiers! The store is never packed but the lines take so long! Even when I'm ordering it online and picking it up in stores! It's not like they are having conversations with each customer to build rapport or anything, it's just dreadfully slow. They also never take off the security sensors on the items. I end up having to remind them to prevent setting off the buzzer at the door - which happened to me when I got my vacuum *ahem* Overall, I would still shop here because the deals ARE good! My partner was nice enough to pick up an order I purchased a few days prior. The purchases were gifts for my niece and nephew. I made an online purchase and received an email confirmation for a partial order. On her way there, I confirmed a pick up. When she got to this Kohl's, I confirmed (via email) my partner was there and provide her with the scan code. She provide me with parking space. I input the space number into the system and it stated that a service member would be out shortly to bring her my things. Fast forward 30 minutes later, my partner told me a car pulled up in the curbside space next to her and within 10 minutes received her order. My partner called the store and the lady on the phone stated she would bring her order right out. Another 10 minutes goes by and she was still waiting. I called them today and I explained the situation to another store clerk. She stated she found my order and when I pull up tell them that I went to the wrong store. I explained that that's not true and she cuts me off very rudely and explains why I have to lie. After telling her what I thought of this whole situation, and how I would proceed movingI forward, she tells me my order is there and I can come pick it up. I stated I will be there soon and thanked her for her time. She didn't respond back and It sounded like she put the phone down, not on the hook.
