I'm not a big ramen person, but I thought this place was very good! Wandered in on a casual Wednesday afternoon and it was pretty quiet with only a few other tables occupied. The actual establishment is small, but seats about 40 people max maybe. They offered a lunch menu on the back which includes an appetizer combo with different ramen variations. I tried the Spicy Black Garlic ramen (so good and so filling). The serving was plentiful. I also had the spicy beef gyozas to start which were tasty and nice and crispy.

Mi ordered a ramen combo with curry bowl. The portion was generous and ramen noodles were had good texture, broth had a good umami flavor. The service and fast and attentive. Overall this place is highly recommended.

Not as rich as some other broths but the Ramen was decent, service was great, and great atmosphere.

This was my first time stopping by Koi Kaze Ramen and now it's going to be my to go stop when i'm in the LA area. The server was quick and nice. Food and drink came out fast. The overall environment was really welcoming. The ramen broth was sooo rich and tasty. 10/10 - Definitely recommend!

I came here with my friend for a night out, and we were surprised that the place was empty. We dropped by around 4 pm-ish, and there was about one party that was already seated inside, but other than that, the place was empty. The parking lot is a bit small, but it wasn't a problem for us since it wasn't too busy when we stopped by. I ordered a Spicy pork shoyu broth ramen and a tonkatsu to share. I ordered my spicy pork ramen extra spicy, since I like the spicy to have a kick, and normal spicy just doesn't hit for me. When I asked the waitress if she could make it extra spicy, she did make sure that it would be okay with me too, in a concerned way, just to double-check if I wanted it extra spicy. Once I ordered and the ramen came out, the kind cook who made my ramen also double-checked to see if the ramen was spicy enough for me or if it needed any adjustments. I thought that was a nice touch to their customer service! The ramen was very delicious. It came out piping hot, the broth was rich, and with the added heat was just to my liking. The noodles were perfectly chewy. The meat was super tender and had a very nice smoky flavor to it. The tonkatsu was super crispy and very juicy! It brought a nice contrast in texture as I ate my ramen. Overall, I enjoyed my meal. The service was wonderful, and I loved the feel of this place. Looking forward to my next visit!

The spicy chicken garlic ramen broth is dynamite! It's savory, flavorful and well-seasoned with herbs & spices. The ingredients paired so well together -- the steamed and sautéed vegetables, egg, steamed seaweed, and the pulled chicken was the perfect texture in the broth. And Janet was a great server.

Amazing cute new ramen place in Koreatown. I had the pork shio ramen and wife had the curry. Both amazingly tasty. Service by Janet was smiley , friendly and spectacular. They'll soon have alcohol license to offer beer, soju and sake. Right now, it's just "fake" beer (0% alcohol). Parking lot is shared with several other businesses so at peak hours might be tough. We also loved that they offer their lunch specials *everyday*!

I had a chance to check out Ramen Akira when it first opened, about 6 weeks ago and tried their fried dumpling appetizer and spicy garlic pork shoyu ramen. I enjoyed everything I had, the ramen was good but with all the different ramen places out there, I can't say it was my favorite. However, I'd definitely be open to going back once they have a beer and wine license. I prefer enjoying my ramen with a cold beer. Our server Z was amazing. He was super friendly and explained the menu well. They have a cute little outdoor patio that they blocked off and created walls so you aren't staring at the lot. The plaza has free parking and located where the old bibimbap restaurant used to be.

Ramen Akira is a relatively new joint and they make a solid Ramen. I think they're novelty brings people through the door, and the staff will have to acclimate better to customers. They weren't rude by any means, but awkward and unpracticed for sure. The ambiance is good. I like what they've dine with the place. There's even a ln outdoor seating area that they've dressed up for al fresco dining. The ramen was solid. A tonkotsu broth with garlic and spice added in, nothing to hate there. The pork was... fine. Its not the succulent thick cut chashu that haunts me in my dreams but it wont live in my nightmares either. I'm very happy with how close it is to my front door and happy to have a ramen fix that doesn't require a drive out to Sawtelle.

I made a mistake by ordering the pork katsu which was dry and very salty. The server did warn me against it. I bet the ramen is better.

I ordered the Salmon Ikura Bowl and my guest had the Tonkotsu Yama. My order came with miso soup and a small salad, both of which were delicious. The salad had the perfect dressing - not overwhelming but flavorful. My tuna bowl was great. The tuna was perfectly tender and looked beautiful. My guest really enjoyed his Salmon Ikura Bowl. Many other nearby restaurants had really long lines and wait times. But I doubt their food was any better than what we had here. I highly recommend this restaurant.

We ordered a chicken karaage to start and it wasn't bad, nothing to write home about though. Since the pieces were large, it was slightly awkward to eat without any plates, and I was just catching the crumbs with my hand (didn't have the ramens at the time). Also got a yuzu beer to try and it was delicious, nice yuzu flavor with some tanginess. I had the shoyu with duck while my husband had the yama tonkotsu that came with fragrant black garlic oil. The tonkotsu is not one of those rich, milky, creamy ones and I personally like these lighter ones more. I also enjoyed the shoyu which had a pleasant depth of flavor, but it felt like it was relying too heavily on MSG for umami. Noodles came out chewy. Definitely not the best ramens I've had but are some of the better ones in LA. Our server was friendly, as were the rest of the staff. Service was quick. The restaurant decor feels straight out of Japan, an extra bit of fun. There's a $10 paid lot behind this block of buildings that's convenient for anything in this part of Little Tokyo.

During the pandemic, I loved ordering their ramen kit and making our own tuskemen. However, I have to say the quality of the food from this location seems to be poorer. I ordered the spicy pork tsukemen. The noodles were a bit soft that I think they were overcooked for a few seconds longer. It didn't have the chewy bouncy texture that I was expecting. The broth seemed to be missing a few toppings that was promised in the menu, there was no green onion, chopped chashu and menma. Overall I enjoyed the ramen, and it was still good, but just not as good as I remembered. The service was just okay as well. I did think the waitress tried her best, but she was the only one person working during Sunday lunchtime. It was very hard to get her attention. I can't help but feel a bit disappointed with this experience. I'm not sure if I'm going to come back.

However, the pork cutlet isn't wasn't the best cutlet I've had. I would put it in the middle range of tonkatsus out there. While good, it didn't have the crisp flakiness you'd find in a specialty restaurant that specializes in just tonkatsu. However, it is still good. Next up was the omelette with gravy with fried rice that had both shrimp and pork. I feel the egg of the omelette was well made. It had that texture and consistency you would really want from an omelette of that nature. The pork and shrimp fried rice tasted a little light in the seasoning and flavor, which isn't necessarily a bad thing. The gravy was also lighter than a heavy gravy as well. When the food came out, I thought the meal would be deeply heavy due to the quantity and the gravy, but it still felt a bit light and manageable, which was kind of outside of my expectations, so that was pretty interesting. I do like the chicken soup this comes with. It has a nice flavorful broth where you could tell it was made well too. The service here is pretty good and attentive. The ambiance is nice but pretty busy. Also, if you come on the weekend, expect to wait a bit because a lot of people do want to eat here and the line can become a bit backed up.
