We have visited a few Silverlake Ramen's but by far this is our favorite. We are always sat in a timely manner and the food is worth the money. The service at this restaurant is terrible. First, other customers and I had to wait a long time, watching helplessly as our orders sat packed on the counter, completely ignored, while a staff member leisurely poured a drink for themselves. Second, the staff seem to dislike it when customers ask about the status of their orders; after a long wait, when we inquired--even adding "take your time" to be polite--they clearly showed annoyance and gave a dismissive, rude response. Third, the staff seem to remember who you are; on my second visit, they used various excuses to delay handing over my order, even though it was already sitting on the counter. Just look at the recent wave of negative reviews, and you'll see that this place is going downhill. read more

I really appreciate that this location is more spacious compared to the Silverlake SL Ramen spot. Parking can be a real hassle--once the lot is full, you're stuck circling around, and in K-Town, finding a spot is like winning the lottery. That said, the food is consistently great and the service is solid. The $21 combo is a good deal--you get to choose a ramen and an appetizer. They also have beer specials: $7 a pint or $22 for a pitcher, (if I recall correctly) which pairs perfectly with the ramen. Great vibes overall. read more

I thought I could handle spice but even the medium spice burned a hole through me. Stopped by Silverlake Ramen in Ktown and overall had a solid experience. I ordered the tonkotsu ramen with an extra egg and pork belly on the side. The broth was rich and flavorful with just the right kick of spice. The noodles had a nice chew, and the egg was cooked perfectly--jammy and seasoned well. The extra pork belly was decent but could've used a bit more sear or seasoning to stand out. Portion size was fair, and service was quick and polite. Seating was a little tight, but nothing too bad. I've never experienced a manger actively removing an incredible and attentive server from his section to then leave an entire table unattended for the entirety of their meal. It was completely unprofessional, disappointing, and not how front of house should be run. We were not given silverware, items off the menu were forgotten and the completely nice server couldn't even speak to our table after making us feel welcome and being hospitable. We have been waiting for 30 minutes now for someone to check on us, close us out, and receive to go boxes. As always after a night out we came out to silver lake ramen to fuel up in the morning !!! Brought some close ones to eat silverlake ramen for their first time and they said it hit the spot to the fullest had them try a few items on the menu we tried the crunchy karagee & gyoza's, and the spicy edamame, and top it off the sushi crunchy roll and of course our spicy ramen !!! Omg so there is one next to my house as well. Never thought of going there and I want to say extremely satisfied and happy. The ramen was soooo good I went with the blaze mild (too mild for me) I had tofu and it was delicious. I loved that it wasn't super salty too! The appetizer crispy chicken was so good too very crispy! The service was mediocre, but we didn't mind because we took the baby with us. The ambiance is kickback with friends and definitely good for families since it's loud and the game was on! Overall I would say for ramen I am Impressed and will start going to the local one! I'd give it a 3 star for the ramen, 4 star for the chicken karaage and deep fried gyoza. Overall, as someone who ate ramen a couple times a week during the winter time especially while living in Japan 4 years, I'd say the ramen was disappointing. The tonkotsu broth just left a lot to be desired, and if you can't get the broth right, it's hard to be satisfied with the dish as a whole. I know this place has franchised and opened up many locations, but I feel they are popular with people that don't know what real Japanese ramen should taste like. I ordered the combination with the classic ramen with pork and the 4 piece fried gyoza along with a pork bun. Everything was delicious and the packaging was also notable. I liked the way they neatly packaged the seaweed separately in wax paper for the ramen and they had a handy namesake packet containing chopsticks, a plastic spoon, and a napkin. The Manhattan Beach location is closer to home, but I've kind of ignored it. I'd definitely order from here again. read more
