I explained that I had called ahead and been told a much lower price, and that my request had not changed. He then brought over the pricing menu, which did not list a specific upcharge for French tips, and attempted to justify the higher price by referencing the general gel manicure pricing of $25-$35. I called as I was a regular customer of Sophia and asked what her availability could be for today. I was told 1 o'clock and booked that appointment. I came seven minutes late and they told me they could not see me because she had booked another appointment at 1:30 and she won't have enough time for her 130 appointment that wasn't even there. I had been seeing Sophia for several months now, but will no longer patronize this business due to their lack of customer service and their poor business practices. Went here for the first time and got a pedicure. Since I went on a Monday evening, it was not busy at all. As soon as I opened the door, it was very inviting and seemed large inside. There were many chairs and TVs all around the store. I opted for one of the specialty pedicures and added on the wax paraffin to heal my calluses. The nail technician was very nice and gave me a great massage during the pedicure. The only negative about my experience was that during the leg exfoliation, it seemed almost as if the scrub was burning my legs. But the quality of service I get changes from person to person. Last time I went, my dip manicure had a bunch of weird dots and streaks in it. I started going to Koi Salon in October 2020 when I first moved to Sanford. My nail tech of choice is Hieu. I left a review on google reviews a year ago on this tech so I'm doing a new one on Yelp. Hieu is very consistent with his skill. I have had other techs help me when he's on vacation, etc. but he's the best. I usually do my own nails but I wanted to pamper myself and got just a regular manicure. I would say that the quality of the work was ok. I was not happy with the amount of clear coat and added another layer when I came home. The whole process felt very rushed and sort of like on a conveyor belt, communication was not the best either. Once she was done with my nails she just said thank you and left me at her station. My daughter was also getting her nails done and that lady told me to move to another area (so that I am not hogging a work station while my nails are drying) but did not say for how long to stay there. There wasn't a rest for my hands at her station while the lady getting her nails next to me had one. The cost for one simple mani is $17 which I find it to be fair. read more

Today I visited Koi Nail Spa for the 1st time and I will be returning! I had a great experience in the service and care I received. I was greeted by a friendly receptionist who scheduled me for an appointment later on that afternoon. I returned at the scheduled time and was immediately called to the back by my technician Danny. He was quiet yet very pleasant and accommodating! He did a basic pedicure and took his time he was gentle and very meticulous. He did my dip manicure as well which turned out PERFECT! For those who have experienced a bad nail dip we know it takes someone with experience to do the job right and Danny did just that! I got the most expensive pedicure and she went through it so fast that she completely forgot to do my right foot, didn't file them or clean them up, my toe nails are all slanted, didn't remove any of the dead skin or cuticles. I couldn't enjoy it because she went through it so fast. The polish looks thrown on and she didn't even clean them up. It definitely was not worth $85 :( read more

I have been going to Koi for years. The last time I went and had french done with the dip powder. I was charged extra because it was two colors. That seemed odd because nobody has ever charged me for two colors but I figured it was no big deal. My daughter had her nails done there by a different person the same day and also did two colors and wasn't charged extra. About two weeks into my nails they started cracking and had the appearance of cracked China if you looked close. Again I dealt with it and didn't think much of it. I ended up removing them by soaking them off the way they do at the salon but they simply wouldn't budge. It took forever which also seemed odd. Underneath my nails were destroyed which is not supposed to happen with the dip. Again I didn't complain. I just decided to give my nails a rest and figured I'd go back and have them redone down the road. Fast forward a couple of days I get a call from my daughter who went back to Koi to get her dip nails done again. This time she had the same technician I had when my nails cracked. In a weeks time two of her nails shattered and broke and the others were cracking like mine did. She worked consecutive 12 hour days over a weekend and called Koi the first thing the next morning and explained the problem. They told her she was too late. Then they told her she could come get them redone but had to go to the same technician. Which happened to be the technician I had previously as well. When she got there for her appointment they made her sit nearly 30 minutes and were very rude to her. The technician said he was going to charge her for mail tips where the nails broke because it was her nails fault that they broke. The technician was rude to her and only fixed 4 of the nails. It was a very unprofessional handling of the situation and I am disappointed to say the least. read more

I have been trying different nail salons in the area with mixed results after moving here (mostly not very good) Koi seemed to have several good reviews on Next Door and this site so I gave it a try this afternoon. Estrella was helpful and pleasant over the phone as I was unable to commit to a specific appt. time. I was calling to see if they were busy as I would be a walk-in within the next hour or so. When I arrived, I was treated with a smiling face (sorry I didn't get her name, long brown hair) and a cheery welcome. Lily was my nail technician. As another reviewer mentioned, she is very sweet, polite, and GENTLE. Although she doesn't speak English well yet, I had no problem communicating w. a little assistance from other technicians (a sign of a good working atmosphere, which makes the entire experience enjoyable). Lily did an impeccable job with my pedicure and took a lot of care with the polish (a dark color that can show all mistakes). The result was better than 4 other salons I have been to in the area in the recent past!! I didn't have time for a manicure but will be returning for both a mani and pedi and will request Lily. I am happy to have found a location so close and finally a decent, clean, calm and efficient, organized environment. Did the $58 pedicure with Mary on Sunday October 17, 2021at 11:00am, by Monday polish is chipped on one toe on each foot. I only wear sandals. Called Tuesday to have it fixed and only Mary can fix it and of course she is off. They have a policy that only the person who did your polish can fix it. This is so stupid!
