Very good experience at Koi. We had a reservation, and when we arrived, we were advised that the kitchen had run out of rice due to an unexpected influx of patrons. The waitress was very apologetic about this and made sure to check in on us frequently while we awaited a new batch to be made. The food was tasty and quick to be delivered when ordered. We happen to be in town and went there on a Tuesday night. Tuesday night is all you can eat sushi for $20 a person. They have select certain rolls for all you can eat. We sat at the sushi bar and the sushi chef took care of us making variations to the rolls. Sushi was excellent and presentation was perfect. The atmosphere is nice a cozy, very romantic. When it comes down to finding a place to eat in Essex County; Koi Sushi usually comes up as a suggestion. Now after being here many times, I definitely feel that this restaurant deserves the five star review. What makes Koi Sushi such a great place would be that I've never had anything that I haven't liked on the menu. All of the rolls are prepared fresh, and never end up taking too long. Another nice touch about Koi is that all of the staff are very friendly and attentive. The location right on main street is also nice since there's plenty of parking nearby and it is not metered. I've recommended Koi Sushi to many people, so I figured since I always talk this place up to others, a review would fitting. Nestled in the cozy streets of downtown kingsville, this gem shines bright for it's amazing food and awesome service. Owners should be proud of this little stop. All you can eat menu $20 any day, which out weights other places in the county who bump up pricing at dinner and/holiday hours. I recommend trying the egg rolls if you haven't yet. They are not what you expect, which was a pleasant surprise. Sushi always tastes fresh, and comes out promptly. Dipping sauce for the fresh sushi is a nice touch too. My only con is the $2 add-on menu at the bottom. Seems like a stretch for a small scoop of ice cream. We will be back soon! read more

Best sushi ever and an amazing server! We went here last night for my boyfriend's birthday and we both thought it was the best sushi we've ever had. Our server was awesome! She was so friendly and attentive, she gave us some great recommendations on where else to go for drinks and a night out. She even gave us a firecracker roll on the house! We also had ordered a mango roll, golden dragon roll, and the tempura vegetables. The sushi was all perfectly rolled and plated beautifully. We loved the house sauce that was on the table. Great atmosphere and music playing. Too bad we live in Michigan or else this would definitely become a regular spot for us! read more

If you're thinking of eating here, DO NOT GO! Worst service. Manager won't come talk to you if you have a complaint. Instead you get to speak to an argumentative waitress who will make it clear that's it's your problem if you aren't satisfied. You will get one dish brought to your table at a time. You will sit for 20 minutes with no food in between dishes. When you ask for your food the waitress will warn you that if you don't eat it you will be charged. We were starving when we walked out. As food goes in Kingsville, excellent. The sushi is OK, but the other Japanese specialties are very good. My mother, who is a very conventional eater, loves the yakitoris and the sweet potatoes in tempura. The sauce they serve with the yakitoris is available for take away, and is worth it. read more

Koi Sushi was one of the few restaurants open for dinner on a statutory holiday. We were really hungry after a full day on Pelee Island. The atmosphere at Koi Sushi is trendy and appealing as is the presentation of food, however we were sadly disappointed in the quality. We'd started with miso soup and expected it to be delicious. But instead we received a watered down version . Neither of us finished a bowl. The sushi we chose was average, but we certainly enjoyed the Firecracker 13 "Best Seller" - two thumbs up for that dish. Unfortunately, the Chicken Teriyaki dinner was so poor in that the chicken was rubbery with no natural flavour or texture. It tasted very commercial, "factory farmed" if you will. At $18 this is extremely over-priced, and leaves a poor impression. Perhaps the owner and chef could consider partnering with local farmers, that is if they're not doing so already. I can imagine that in a place like Kingsville, surrounded by agriculture, people would deman high quality food at the table where possible. After all, it seems to be very accessible. Wont be returning to this restaurant. read more

Alright well to start it off, my family decided to go to the lasalle location hearing horrible things but we decided to check it out anyway and as soon as we stepped in the place smelt horrible and I suggest the employees shave, both female and male.. sad but true. My 13 year old daughter found a hair in her roll and if that wasn't bad enough I had a nice glass of watered down wine, yum. The firecracker roll was alright, besides the fact that it tasted like complete uncooked fish. I think giving Koi even one star is a little over the top considering my bad experience. WHAT WAS THAT WE JUST ATE? Koi Sushi in LaSalle was the only Sushi restaurants we tried that didn't resemble anything like sushi. It was HORRIBLE! Very small rolls, and they treat people as if they are doing them a favour for allowing them for being there. When you walk in it reeks of fish wonder why... they have it it sitting on top of the counter. When we asked if it would go bad the chef said they throw it away at the end of the day. Are you kidding me? Where is the health unit? The tuna roll smelled, yep smelled, like fish should have been used 5 days ago. We NEVER complained, however this was the worst meal we have ever had, sushi or non-sushi. Sorry but they need to find something else to do. PLEASE STOP DOING THAT TO PEOPLE. read more

Usually my go to place for sushi, but after the owner's rudeness to me tonight I won't be going back. I overlooked finding a hair in my sushi once because they fixed that without question... Of course that might have had something to do with a health inspector being there. But tonight when I went to exchange my bottle of house sauce for a new one, he said it wasn't his bottle. Yes it was! Why would I make that up? For a free bottle of sauce that costs $5? It was the principle of the thing. What happened to the customer is always right? Unimpressed with the reception given. After a 30 minute drive for a 9:00 reservation we could sense immediately we would be rushed through dinner because they wanted to leave early. With a groupon to use, we realized right away we had come on an evening that it was not valid. The restaurant being almost empty, we asked if they could accommodate us and accept the groupon seeing as we had driven a long distance to get there. They refused and while we can understand that we made the mistake, we felt it was an unfriendly reception from the beginning and chose not to stay. Needless to say, we will not return. read more
