This is the spot. It's so hard finding good milk tea but this place has got it. They also have fresh baked goods made daily and unique deserts. I've surprised my co workers with treats from here. Parking lot is small but there's street parking on the side if need be. They charge me $1 for whip cream to add to my milk tea drink but didn't give enough worth charging a whole extra dollar for I'll just go without adding that next time. Just order a drink there and honestly the whole experience was horrible and uncomfortable. It was severely understaffed (only one employee was working the corner) and the drink I ordered tasted like dawn soap was the main ingredient. Koko's Bakery is sadly the only Chinese bakery at Cleveland. The interior is messy and looks cheap, and the food is okay. They have American born Chinese workers that speak English if you're too worried to try it out. My biggest complaint is that a ton of non-Asian people using their hands to grab the bread. The tongs are there for a fucking reason you know. The workers didn't even bother saying anything as all the people grabbed bread meant to be sold to customers, felt the bread up, then put them back inside the case. Who knows where the hell their hands have been? Good thing they only get the basic ham and egg pastry that no Asian person would seriously eat when they're at an Asian bakery. Other than the ignorant customers, the bread is decent. Not great but not terrible either. The shaved ice was pretty mediocre and small though. I brought the red bean buns back home as a souvenir for my family. Good thing sugary foods are less prone to going bad. Koko's Bakery is okay. Not sure I'd recommend it unless a person was desperate for Chinese bread. I think the bread I could make at home would taste around the same. read more

I purchased the only cake available 40 minutes before closing on a Thursday. The 10 inch fruit cake was $52. The cake is full of fresh fruits (not canned fruits)- such as mango, kiwi, cantaloupe, grapes, and an assortment of berries. The cake itself isn't too sweet, which is a plus because, who doesn't want a second slice of cake? The cake is also not too cream-heavy either, which means you don't have to worry about feeling awful after cake. I'd initially left a 5 star review of this cake. However, I'm changing my review after a few of my family and friends had the cake. They did not share the same sentiments. They tried a bite, then refused to have any more. They all agreed that the cream on the cake does not taste fresh. After hearing this, I tried another bite of the cream and realized that they are right. For $52 I was expecting a fresh cake, not an old cake unservable to guests. I'm very sad about this. read more

This is probably the best Chinese bakery in the city and I have tried near and far (including restaurants and supermarkets!) They have a wide selection of baked goods. My favorites are the bbq pork bun (finally a good ratio of meat to bread), beef curry puff donut, and taro bread. They also have the traditional Taiwanese sticky rice donut rolls (with pork floss and pickled turnip) -- I devoured it because I never say no to this breakfast item... however the donut was overly fried and sorta stale which was sad. Best Asian bakery I've found in Cleveland (because it's the only one I've found). Great variety of breads and pastries (my personal go-tos are the savory pork floss bun and the sweet pineapple bun) that are fresh, delicious, and also reasonably priced! I'm personally not a huge fan of the bubble tea here, but they also have lots of other drink options including Vietnamese coffee that you can try. My #1 go-to place in the whole city!! Amazing authentic Chinese pastries that remind me of street food I miss! The fried pork buns are my personal favorite, but their (cinnamon sugar) donuts have a unique flavor to them that I also love. Their steamed buns are also incredible, the Big Bun packs several filling in one. The only thing I'd stay away from is the coffee and the lunch/dinner meals. Every time I go to the bakery I get a nostalgic feeling of going to Chinatown's various bakeries and getting freshly baked Chinese buns, donuts, and pies. The smells are so delicious and transport me into my childhood. Koko Bakery has a large assortment of many of the typical baked goods found in Chinese bakeries. The baked goods are of very high quality. Among the many selections,they have really tasty barbecue pork buns, buns stuffed with sweet bean paste or taro root, curry beef puffs, and even hot dog buns (not the American kind!). You can also find an assortment of bread, rolls, and cookies to take home. They have special pastries including tarts and even lunar year moon cakes! They used to serve rice bowls and other types of savory foods also at the bakery but the bakery has expanded to include a restaurant/café next door. I can't believe I've never reviewed this place. I've been here countless times throughout the years. They are the only Asian bakery in Cleveland and they don't disappoint. I'd have to say that the best thing Koko offers is their buns. They are affordable and delicious. My favorite ones are the curry beef puffs. Unfortunately on the day I came there were not many buns available. I enjoy their bubble tea, but it definitely is not authentic or comparable to other bubble tea shops. Some flavors taste very artificial. I typically order taro or Thai tea with rainbow jelly instead of bubbles. I don't usually try the small desserts or cakes that they have in the display counters because it is overpriced, but whenever I do splurge on one they are always delicious. My favorite so far is the matcha cheese bubble tea, which I know sounds strange but is definitely worth it. Currently, in my opinion, there is no good bubble places here in Cleveland. I'm from Dallas, Tx so I used to have a lot of bubble tea options. Koko bakery's bubble tea tasted very artificial to me. I know a lot of bubble tea use syrups but they don't taste too fake like this one does. Their bakery is subpar. I particularly didn't like egg tart, too sweet no egg flavor. So then I ordered the fruit cup tea instead only to find out it has kiwi in it, which is not displayed anywhere, that im allergic to. Right after I got my drink I asked "Wait, does this have kiwi?" Worker: "Yes." "I'm allergic to kiwi..." she literally shrugged her shoulders and walked away. Didn't care to help me or offer to remake the drink without kiwi, when this was literally the second drink I bought from there because the first one was gross.
