    WINTER MELON TEA
    Rachel D.

I went to visit Kung fu Tea for their special edition Kirby (Nintendo video game character) drink. Unfortunately, this location was all sold out of the drink? I was visibly disappointed and the front counter girl asked if she could make a recommendation for me to try, so I accepted. She recommended Winter Melon Tea, and I actually really enjoyed it!! As you can see from my photo, I was still followed by the Kung Fu Tea Kirby advertisements, even with my alternative drink. Upon waiting I sat down for a bit, but I will say this location was not very clean. You could still see crumbs on the counters that had a bit of sticky residue. Not the cleanest joint, probably going to try somewhere else. Also, I just want to mention parking is a nightmare AND it is paid parking. It's located behind the building, and I paid through and app, and still had to walk to the building. Overall, not worth it.

We discovered this chain whilst in Minneapolis, and were delighted to see one in Cleveland. They make delicious, creative boba tea. Pros: Kung fu has options! I went zero sugar and low ice, and was so happy. The staff are friendly and fast. The boba drinks are delicious! There is beautiful outdoor seating. Cons: Strong smell of bleach. While I'm glad they clean, it was difficult to be inside while they made our drinks. I cannot imagine eating in. It is located in one spot, together with a sushi place. The signs outside don't really tell you that, so we were looking for another door (and, when inside, trying to see where to order). I didn't see any drink specials, which, given our extremely positive experience in mpls, left me disappointed in potential. Overall: deliciousness, but get it to go.

The 50% sweet caramel milk tea!

This Kung Fu Tea location made a smart move to open the location here. University Circle is the only part of Cleveland that actually has an existent Asian population. Kung Fu Tea is inside the same building as Kenko so they can cash-in money from the Asians and the part of the population that loves Asian fusion. Unfortunately this Kung Fu tea location has one of the worst drinks I've tried from all the Kung Fu Tea locations I've been to. The drinks a flat-out too sweet. Usually when I order a 50% sugar drink i can actually taste the difference from the regular sweetness drinks. Not here. The drinks are sweet, sweet, sweet, and sweet. No depth of flavor from their milk tea. Just syrup. The population of Kung Fu tea is almost entirely made of Asian students. And non-Asian students from Case Western. Shockingly no parents with kids because parents usually like taking their kids out for a sweet treat on occasions. Anytime is a good time to visit Kung Fu tea. The line moves fast since there's a electronic device that you can use to order your drinks and customize them. The only aspect you can't customize is sugar for some odd reason. The only times you want to avoid Kung Fu Tea is during a Kenko lunch rush and a weekend afternoon. The people from Kenko also go straight for bubble tea if they want bubble tea with their food. So you may run into some confusion if there's a line for Kung Fu Tea and a line from Kenko as well. Parking at University Circle sucks. You'll have to park further away from Kung Fu Tea. I suggest you park at the garage on Bellflower road then walk to Kung Fu Tea. The ambience of Kung Fu Tea is pretty great when an excess of university students aren't around. The shop is cozy, quiet, and has comfortable seating. The lighting is a dim yellow that doesn't strain your eyes too much if you plan on studying.

Inside this Kung Fu tea you can also get to Kenko. There are two restaurants that you can go to. one to get bubble tea and the other one serves you rice bowls. The rice bows you can pick two meat and three vegetables. The ingredients are fresh. And the size of the bowl is party. Parking is minimal in the area and it can be a little sketchy at night. Attached are pictures of both places.

Finally!! A place with REAL, authentic tasting bubble tea. I love that they have a quick to-go station for people and love that you can customize your tea to a large extent. I find that a lot of bubble tea places in Cleveland are extremely Westernized: tons and tons of sugar. Here, I got to pick 50% sugar as part of my order options and it came out PERFECT. Highly recommend doing the coconut milk tea with the bobas. I will be back!!

For milk tea on the east coast, Kung Fu is pretty good - you can customize sugar and ice levels like at typical milk tea places, and there's a pretty solid selection of teas. I tried the oolong milk tea which had a good tea taste, but definitely not as strong at other tea places back in CA (yes, I know holding it to CA standards isn't quite fair, but I can't help it ¯\_(ツ)_/¯). Boba (which they call "bubbles" here haha) was pretty well made, very chewy the way it should be. And no skimping or extra charges when you ask for no ice - so that's definitely a plus. Staff was friendly and made sure to confirm my order. Also, it's connected to Kenko (build your own sushi roll!) and there's lots of seating with outlets. Great for chilling, hanging out and/or studying/working!

I just went in for the tea, I do love and hate coming to the part of city. But you have to be lucky to find parking without paying. Also cops drive around checking you paid. Going back to tea after finding parking. I'm from California so I've had many boba tea since I was younger. I do love Rose milk tea. So I ordered but they informed me that boba peals were no longer available for day this was at 4. I was disappointed because that part of getting tea. I did substitute for herbal jelly, so I do recommend with rose tea. The tea it self I'm sorry to say it wasn't real rose flavor.

The restaurant its self is in a nice good area. But the workers were kinda rude and impatient. This particular drink is the Oreo wow milk tea and honestly it tastes like straight up milk and soggy Oreos with a little boba. There weren't really descriptions but the pictures looked amazing. If you really like the taste of tea this isn't it. Plus it just wasn't worth the money.

Kung fu tea has all your basic needs in boba and is open pretty late which is a plus. Overall the tea itself is not authentic authentic, but does the job and their menu does better in their sweet drink varie-tea (ie milk teas and toppings) - I usually get their honey oolong milk green tea. The boba is surprisingly chewy, and flavorful. The only drink I'd warn against is the rosehip which is more like an artificial fruit punch than anything else!

Love all the options for tea. Bubbles are still my favorite but all the varieties I have tried have been pretty awesome. I also like being able to order on a tablet, I can take my time and it seems like less pressure in case I want to change my mind at any point. This tea is my pick-me-up anytime I am feeling low.

Figured we'd give Tommy's a shot, not knowing it's this long-standing institution with a devoted fan base. That fandom is deserved. Brightly lit, clean, friendly staff. We were seated immediately. Really interesting menu with a lot of vegetarian and eclectic choices. $5 basket of fries was wayyyy big and some of the best fries I've ever had - a nice crispness on the outside, while fluffy inside. Wife's spinach pie with muenster cheese ($11.85) was flaky and generous with the fillings. Loved my $3 phosphate. My DC falafel sandwich ($14) - with sesame seeds, cheese, sprouts and tomatoes - was crazy big and the falafel was perfectly cooked, with a nice crunch. Our server Kelsey was really personable. All in all, just a great dining experience and if we lived in the area, we'd be frequent fliers at Tommy's.

Lately, the main dishes improved tremendously and became more flavorful. My latest order comprised of Taza Chicken Salad ($14.75) and Sally's Favorite Bowl ($9.95). Both dishes had generous servings, were flavorful, and not dry. These dishes were very good value! I also ordered dessert - Tiramisu. I used to love desserts from Aladdin's. Service is always pleasant and quick whether you're dining in or ordering to go meal. Parking is available at the back of the store - small lot. There are also street parking options.
