I was shopping around for a life jacket and found some online, but since I was in the area, I thought I'd stop into this Dick's Sporting Goods in Gilbert. They have soooo much merch!! You'll probably end up buying more than what you plan on, so be ready. This location boasts 2 floors, with everything from kayaks to baseball bats and shoes for every sport to clothing for the kiddos. They carry major brand names such as Yeti, Hydroflask, Nike, Puma, etc. I was pleasantly surprised to also find ratchet tie downs for pick up trucks in the kayak/SUP section. They had a great sale going on before the 4th. I was able to snag my life vest for just $20! I won't be using it too much, but you gotta be safe no matter what! I was browsing around and trying on different brands when an employee asked if I needed any help. I politely declined. I did drop a star due to the fact that when I checked out, there was only one register open. There were about 3 of us behind the person who was paying. Eventually, another register opened up so I was out and about in a few minutes. I would have also liked to see scanners throughout the store to check prices. There is an abundance of parking in the lot outside. Employees are friendly and they offer a military discount when you show your valid I.D. I'm not one to usually write a review about sporting stores, I usually just review places I eat at. I would, however, like to write a very nice experience I had today around 12:30 - 1 PM ish when I had to find a new mug/tumbler to bring to my Krav Maga classes. There was quite a selection, and I was looking for a specific design so I looked for an employee who went through a lengthy process on the hunt for the tumbler I picked out. I unfortunately do not remember his name, but he had blonde hair I believe and was fairly tall compared to me lol. I have OCD, so I analyze every detail when I buy something. Or just everything in general. After he had recommended the Yeti Rambler and a few others, I ultimately decided on that one. This was when the probably most odd adventure at Dick's began of finding the tumbler color I liked that had the least amount of markings, dings, imperfections, etc. There were quite a few of that specific tumbler color, & it took a decent amount of time to finally decide on one. After pulling out every color of that size of mug I decided on, I narrowed it down to a few, but was still struggling due to some very minor markings I saw. I had asked for his help more than a few times to see if he could spot any markings on them and he crouched onto the floor with me, looking at them and pointing out what appeared to be the best option while I rotated the tumbler to look at it with the lighting at certain angles. Not only did this employee take the time and patience to help me, but went as far as getting me a wet and dry paper towel to see if a tiny dot of a smudge would wipe off -spoiler: it did indeed come off- but I really sincerely appreciate how understanding he was about the situation and how far he went to help me. I'd imagine a majority of people on this planet would go mad trying to help someone pick a tumbler for over an hour, but there was no judgment on his part and was very kind. I also left with an awesome tumbler thanks to him, and slightly embarrassed/guilty for the probably agonizing experience he had to go through lol, but still was very kind throughout all of it. They refused to take my return. Even with a receipt, they refused. He said "we are moving locations", ok, how is that my problem? You are an open and running store SELLING merchandise but you refuse to accept returns? Are you for real? Prices are mid to high I'd say.. if you're looking for new gear, shoes, clothes ect.. you can prob find it here for sports. Staff at checkout was pleasant sweet .. most staff seemed on the younger side for the most part which none of them talked to us.. but w.e.. elevator access for handicap or stroller. But Dicks is apparently ok with allowing damaged products onto the store floor and making them available to buy online. This DICK'S Sporting Goods store has everything for everyone! Store was easy to drive to and find parking. The layout is well stocked and the layout was easy to maneuver and find items we were shopping for. This trip happened to be for my grandsons baseball tryouts @ a new school. One is about a small is Men's sizing and the other is a medium in Youth sizes. I was happy to see that they have ALL sizes for ONE sport together and NOT a Men's section for everything & then everything for youth in a separate section, usually on the opposite ends of the store (for example KŌh£'$ & W@£Ma^+ ). The service was great too, from the young man who helped us in the shoe department. Again, one kid wears a mens size 8, the other a youth size 5. He helped us find the cleats on sale as advertised on their website, because in the physical store there were no sale signs for the same thing. He told us that most the shoes for that particular sale were out of stock already. But he found one size we needed and then showed us another shoe just as nice at a similar low price. Eeek I don't understand the low reviews for the Gilbert Dick's- I have had nothing but positive experiences here! With the Stanley tumbler and Owala water bottle craze I have found myself here often picking up items for myself and as gifts. They typically have a great selection of cups from Stanley, Owala, Yeti, Hydroflask and on-trend sneakers from Hoka, On, Nike, Adidas etc. I usually order online and pick up in store and have found this process to be smooth and seamless. We even had one instance where one of the cups I purchased was actually used and stained inside, I brought it back the net day for an exchange with no problem. I also have found this location often runs clearance sale and we have been able to snag sweats, sports bras and sneakers from great brands for wonderful deals. read more

DJ went above and beyond for us! We were trying on several pairs of shoes so we could choose the right ones for family members for Christmas. By the end, we had tried on more than 10 pairs. Tony the manager is such an amazing manager .. NOT . LAZY . I came into the store today to confirm my order was available. I waited over 2.5 hours for a Dicks sporting goods order confirmation email . I never received a email / receipt . Thankfully I screenshotted the order number . I asked a cashier if he could help me and he said he wasn't open , snarky kid with a skin condition. I kept repeating myself saying I never received an order confirmation email & it was the last item in stock so I wanted to make sure everything was okay & the item existed . The kid said he could not look up my order number to check and I would have to wait for a email when it's ready . I asked to talk to the manager and Tony was right behind him . Tony was red and sweaty . I explained how I never received an order email & he kept saying orders are not ready for pick up . I'm not sure how much more clear I could be - but when you order an item online , you get a direct email for your order . I understood that there was a wait on curbside pick up , but I just wanted someone to check the damn order number to ensure I was not wasting my time with the large purchase . ( the website states you will receive a order confirmation email within 10 minutes of purchase ) Tony refused to look up my order number "I'm not doing that " & " I'm not reading that " and had a look of disgust & let me know there was over 500 items that were ahead of me , LOL . Again Tony , you are a LAZY manager . So , I called Katrina at the customer service and she called the store and asked for a employee to look up my order number / make sure item was in stock because I never got a order confirmation email . She confirmed with an employee the item was there and pick up would be in a hour or two . The website never sent me a email . I typed in manually my order number several times on the website and after 10th attempt , it said it was ready for pickup . Eric was nice employee who helped me with my car seats and pushing in the large box . That's a good person . Thank you Eric , you should not being working with people like Tony . I still haven't received ANY emails of ANY kind Tony . Nothing in junk mail . Tony , you disgust me. I placed an online order that was immediately canceled- I called to check why since the website said they had my order in stock. The first gentleman I spoke to was really kind. Then I was put on hold and bounced around to several store associates and put on the line with a rude and condescending woman... acting that way over me asking if they had a cup in stock. Ridiculous. After trying to figure out why my kid was having severe leg pain, we figured it might be her shoes. She went through a recent growth spurt so it was probably a combination of that and shoes without support. We literally arrived at Dick's at 8:20PM on a Tuesday (they close at 9). My 11 year-old was only interested in trying on shoes with a certain aesthetic. I wanted something with support. Luckily we could agree on Hokas and she tried on many pairs. I felt guilty that the sore was getting close to closing. The person who was helping us COULD NOT HAVE BEEN NICER. This kid is going places. I will list specifics in a second, but I have to first apologize that I probably remembered his name wrong. It was Body or Brady. I swear it started with a B and ended with a Y and I'm so sorry if I botched the middle. He was about the height of my nephews, so I'll guess he is 6' and has brownish-red hair. Anyway I've worked in retail and I taught for many years so I know people, and this kid is going to be successful at whatever he decides to do. His parents should be proud of how well they've raised him. * He was so patient and helpful. He knew the products well, so he was able to help steer us towards the right style of shoe we needed. * My daughter really wanted a particular shoe that was on display, but the mate was nowhere to be found. Brody looked in the inventory system and it showed there were none in stock. He explained that it wasn't likely there, but he went in the back anyway and double-checked for us. * My kid tried on men's and women's styles and Brody kept getting more pairs for her to try without any hesitation (btw if any cynics are reading this, they clearly don't work on commission. You are rung up at the exit and no one asks for who helped you). * I apologized that it was late, and I promised to decide quickly - but he assured me it was fine and he was happy to help * I also apologized at one point for my daughter who was overtired and not as pleasant as she normally is He just smiled and said, "No worries, I remember what it's like at that age." * In the end we bought $180 sneakers and I didn't even bother to compare prices anywhere else - because the customer service was top notch. Yeah, I'm old enough to say top notch with no irony. Anyway, sorry about forgetting your name, Brody (or Brady ) but this old lady really appreciated all of your patience and assistance. It was a last-minute whim that we ran to Dick's right before they closed on a weekday, but it worked out very well. She wore the shoes to school today, got a lot of compliments and no foot pain. Don't buy the extended warranty. Bought a new baseball glove and bought the extended warranty. Beware it is with a 3rd party that you have to ship the glove out to and wait for an exchange . Plus the 3rd party won't even help until you try to get the manufacturer to replace it first. They won't replace until the year long manufactures warranty is over. You definitely can't bring back to the store to exchange even with the extra warranty. How are you supposed to do this during the season if the glove breaks? Go without a glove for a few games while they ship it back and forth? Was told that there is nothing they can do when at the store. read more

If you call the store to speak with employee it takes forever to get connected. When I could finally talk to an employee he was not professional and made me feel bad for calling their store. At the end of the call I told him thank you for your help, especially since it seemed so painful to answer my questions, and he hung up on me without saying a word. Just feel unwelcoming. read more

I was really disappointed in this place. There were several hanging items I couldn't reach and I looked and looked for a sales person and there wasn't one in sight. I finally found one of the poles to lift the items down myself. I like this Dick's. This store always has the latest clothing and equipment available. My wife and I LOVE this location as we are close to this store. They always employ young, very kind, sales personnel. They aren't perfect, but they are learning great customer service skills. I love this one stop store they have all your sport and some camping supplies all under one roof in every color you can think of. We came in looking for life vests since purchasing a new kayak for our Summer time water fun when we're out camping this season. This is a unique store they even have a batting cage inside I thought that was cool as well. The only thing that kept me from giving them 5 stars was the lack of help and interaction from the staff and the clothing in the women's department upstairs was very unorganized other than that I'd shop there again if I know what I absolutely need and wouldn't require a sales persons assistance. read more

I needed a brake arm and couldn't find it on line. I called Dicks and the person I needed to talk to was not in. They took my name and number. Ryan called me back the next day and secured the part I needed. When I went to pick it up he gave me the part and processed it under warranty with no questions asked. This Dick's location has so much in stock - this is a double level store with so many different department areas. I came here looking to get information for my treadmill purchase for the home gym I am building. Their home gym equipment section has many different pieces to look at and variety for each. It was very useful to physically be able to step on and compare at least 6-8 treadmills on display. Also, the staff member who assisted me was VERY knowledge about this area of equipment, which was so helpful for making my final decision! If you are ever interested in getting home gym equipment - delivery is $90 and delivery and assembly is $140. I think this is pretty fair considering some of the equipment (like a NordicTrack treadmill) are more complex (and heavy!) to properly assemble. read more

I was buying my fiancé new golf shoes as a surprise and I have NO clue about anything golf/sports related and I was going down those aisles like a lost child trying to find a good pair. Several employees saw me and walked kept walking by. Two boys in particular who were working in the golf section, were busy hitting golf balls in the practice area then to help me or to at least acknowledge I was even there. I went in for two items today, a Stanley cup and a Carhartt beanie (I know, I'm basic but ‍). I wandered around the top floor looking for both and could not find either so I ventured back down stairs. After wandering for a bit I found someone folding shirts and asked her if she knew where either item was. She said "ummmm, yeah upstairs is where those are!" When I told her I was just up there and hadn't seen either she just said "oh, well then I don't know" and shrugged... I didn't expect her to bring me to the items but she could have at least asked on her walkie talkie if someone could help me with the location... So back upstairs I went where I asked another associate who told me they were both down stairs At this point I just went downstairs and left the store. This place is paradise for golfers, campers, hunters, boaters, etc. We made our way upstairs to the camping stuff and started looking at air mattresses. After I won a gift card to Dicks at the 2019 Yelpies I had a gift card burning a hole in my pocket! I already had it spent in my head and knew exactly what I wanted. Well, good things come to those who wait because I was able to save even more $$$ for Black Friday week. The moment I entered the store I was greeted and serviced. The service man even walked me to the Hydro flask area. He was beyond helpful, really genuinely eager to assist if I needed additional help. DSG sells EVERYTHING. Birkenstock's, Champion, YETI, Adidas and so much more! I was able to purchase my son a new Hydro Flask, straws and Hydro flask boots for under $50. Score! read more

After driving an hour round trip, and using up expensive gas, this store did not have any of the items on their website. I specifically chose to review stock available in this particular store and then made the long trip there when the website showed Carhartt items on sale. All were three times the price shown on the website; actually some of the worse prices. I asked an associate on the second floor where to find Carhartt; he had no idea. After I found it, I asked another associate if among all the sale apparel downstairs, was any Carhartt. No. None. Don't rely on information on the website, even when it is supposed to represent stock in this particular store, because it will not be accurate. We don't live in times of cheap gas, so making a long drive for one or two items is a waste of money and time and apparently Dick's doesn't care about either. read more

The WORST customer service we've ever experienced ANYWHERE. Very disappointed in the management here, specifically Mr. Eli. I came to Dick's with my father and as we are checking out, the cashier says we can't sell you this belt. So we ask for the manager and he immediately looks like he's upset and being inconvenienced. Doesn't acknowledge us, gives no explanation and tells us "there's nothing we can do about it." Of course we question this as there was a rack full and he continues to say "doesn't matter, we'll take it down now". At this time my dad tells him he has poor customer service and the MANAGER TELLS US TO NEVER COME BACK... after we give a great deal of our business there.
