My favorite combination. Beef Kabob plate with a Jamba Juice.

In my opinion, this is by far the best Mediterranean food I've had. I've been coming to this place when I first moved to Pasadena in 2002. It's unfortunate that I've moved away for about 5 yrs now, but I try and stop by here as often as occasion will permit. The food is great, the service is great. Even from a long absence, they still remember my usual order. Highly recommend.

We went here for lunch and it was great. There's something for everyone- meat lovers and vegetarians alike.

This place has been a staple of great kebabs and falafels for years because the food is excellent, nothing fancy but everything is well made and fresh tasty. The Kefta and beef kebabs are the best and the hummus is excellent. Located in the South Lake area of Pasadena, plenty of parking and friendly service. Nice casual vibe, counter service and outdoor seating available.

Amazing food! Came here on a weekday for lunch and got the beef kabob plate, which came with a Greek style salad, hummus, two beef skewers, and rice! The beef kebab is super tender and extremely well marinated but not too salty! The hummus - sooo smooth and melts in your mouth! Love love love the hummus! I'm usually not a salad person but I do love this salad - perfect seasoning and mix of veggies! The owner is super friendly as well! Lots of parking at the back! There are a few indoor and outdoor seatings!

Food: 4.5/5 Service: 4/5 Ambiance: 4/5 Value: 4.5/5 This is one of my favorite restaurants. When I'm nearby, I always have to grab their food to go. The value and taste are unbeatable. No other kabob place can match their price and flavor ratio. I usually get the beef kabob plate. You can mix and match with one beef and one lamb, but I always stick with beef. It comes with delicious hummus and salad, plus pita bread. Their garlic sauce made me fall in love with it. I even buy a similar one from the grocery store to keep in my fridge. It's not the same as the restaurant version, but it does the job. Highly recommended.

Koko Mediterranean Cafe is my family go-to- Mediterranean restaurant for flavorful food. The restaurant is located in Shoppers Ln. where ample parking spots can be easily found. The restaurant is always clean and organized. I have been a customer for many years. The owners are very welcoming and genuinely warm. The service is outstanding. It is always fast, even if there is a long line of customers waiting to replace or pick up their orders. Their menu includes delicious varieties of grilled Kebab, Shawarma,Kebab salad with your choice of grilled protein, and wraps, in addition to their vegetarian plates. My family and I love their beef Kebab, kefta Kebab, lamb Kebab and chicken Kebab. I always order combo plate. It comes with rice, salad, hummus, garlic sauce, and pita bread. In addition to my favorite delicious vegetarian plates. For this visit, I got falafel plate. It comes with tahini, hummus, salad, pickles, and pita bread. Their Kebab is authentic, flavorful, juicy and overall delicious. The rice is fluffy and always fresh. The Falafel is crispy from outside and soft enriched with perfect spice from inside. Hummus is very creamy and rich. Their babaganoush is the best! The vegetarian dolma is light, but tzatziki sauce compliment the taste. Koko Mediterranean Cafe remains my favorite Mediterranean restaurant. I totally recommend trying their food. You will definitely enjoy their dishes.

I was wowed with the number of customers dining inside the small restaurant and really knew this was a hot spot for those who relish Mediterranean foods. There was a five-person line ahead of me, but went by fast, as the food is served within less than five minutes, upon ordering. As for the food, it is consistent with some of the other foods I've had with Greek or middle-east heritage, but felt their hummus was not as good as I've had at the former Corfu in Sierra Madre. However, the entrees are relatively good and the experience positive in every way. I had wanted to try this restaurant for about six months since seeing it while walking by, but it seemed to have been closed during some construction. I'm glad I had this opportunity and look forward to another meal during the work week...

So sorry to say it, but I don't get it. I saw a long line and great reviews and had to try this place. I got the chicken kabob plate and it might just be the driest chicken I've ever had. I also got the falafel and it also tastes like nothing, just like fried...nothing. The hummus is ok, again not much flavor. And the combo plate came with one piece of pita which I do find to be a bit stingy. The rice tastes like box rice pilaf. Not bad but not good enough that I want to eat it all. I did also try the chicken shawarma wrap, and while it was ok, it wasn't as good as what I was expecting. I won't be back sorry. I do appreciate that the service was super quick and nice.

Fast and friendly service in and out in about 3 minutes. Fairly affordable 13$ for a chicken shawarma wrap. However, the chicken was overly salty. Maybe it's just the day, will come back to try again.

Great spot for a filling meal! I got the Lamb Kebab plate and it came with 2 kebabs on top of a bed of rice, hummus, and a salad. The garlic sauce was packed with flavor and that red sauce packed just enough heat. Absolutely loved it! The food and ordering process was quick. This is a good spot for take out or dine in. There's seating outside and inside.

I got their beef kebab plate. It was already premade when we ordered it. The kebab was very dry and had a texture like beef jerky. It came along with your typical salad and sauces. The rice was alright; it wasn't flavorful. Also, the pita bread was cold. However, it's a very chill place with A/C and customer service was very welcoming.

Does this place have a place to sit down and eat? If not, is there a place nearby?

Yes. They have limited in door and outdoor eating space.

Are they open on MLK Monday?

    yes

What oil do they use for salad and kabobs?

    Do not know

Have they closed? Every time I've tried to call for the last few weeks, it goes straight to voicemail.

They're not closed. Charter has had outages in that area multiple times for days, so the phone lines and internet were not working.

Do I have to use doordash or grubhub? I am calling to get takeout but they do not pick up and I don't want to create accounts for services. thanks!

Line moves rather quickly, and they have take out. It's made right in front of you. You just have to go to the restaurant.

Is the food halal (zabihah)? Any of it? Thx!

Just the Lamb Kebab is halal.

Have any gluten free eaters eaten the gyro meat here and been okay?! Thanks! (I've read some gyro meat now is processed with additives that contain gluten.)

All plates come with rice and a pita bread. You can sub the rice for extra salad that way you get a gluten free plate. You can ask them to keep the pita off too. And no gyro at Med café. They only serve chicken shawarma to die for!!!

Their kebobs are cooked over actual coals, and you can absolutely taste the difference. The chicken is always incredibly tender and flavorful, the beef is tender and perfectly cooked, and I have a friend who could probably live on their tzatziki. Everything is fresh and thoughtfully prepared every day. But as wonderful as the food is, the people are what make Sahara so special. Ana owns the restaurant with her husband and runs the kitchen, and she and the entire staff are simply amazing. This is a true family-owned restaurant where you can feel the care that goes into both the food and the way they treat people. But it is without question the most important Armenian restaurant in the world. Armenians are simultaneously a diaspora people, a people of the book, and an old country people. Therefore, odd as it may seem, it is entirely appropriate that the most important Armenian restaurant in the world should not be located in Armenia at all, but should serve a diaspora community in a way that makes them feel connected to home, both interns of cuisine and in terms of communal warmth. Technically, this is more of a Lebanese restaurant than an Armenian restaurant, but that hardly matters. It's a place of celebration, merriment, laughter, and tears. In short, it is THE gathering place for Armenians in Southern California. There is a massive pressure felt by all Los Angel-inos when we host guests from different parts of…read morethe country. Not only do we have to chaperone the visiting friends to tourist hot spots that we generally avoid in everyday life; but even the restaurants we choose as dining options need to be positioned on a perfect pedestal that impresses but is still comfortable. A very close friend of mine from Nashville visits the City of Angels once a year; and I always feel the stress to impress in regards to dining. In 2026, we decided on a more casual dinner than our usual upscale entertainments and opted for Pasadena. Of course, I turned to Yelp and that is how I discovered Café Santorini. Café Santorini has been a favorite dining option in the Old Pasadena neighborhood of Pasadena since 1993 on the intersection of West Union and De Lacey (a block from Colorado Blvd) nestled in one of the famous historic red-brick buildings with alley alcoves that makes Old Pasadena so beloved. Café Santorini encapsulates European love that is as warm as its bricks uniting the culinary richness of Italy, Greece and Morocco in semi-upscale/trendy real estate with iron railings, high ceilings, exposed brickwork, duct beams and glossy wood surfaces that is both inviting and will absolutely entice tourists and residents, alike. Whether seeking indoor dining bar-adjacent with tables or booths or the lovely outdoor second-floor patio alcove overlooking the plant-filled alleys below; Café Santorini is quite pleasant on the eyes. My Nashville-based friend and I made a reservation for an early dinner at 4pm on a Saturday and Café Santorini was already filled to the gills and bustling with activity (granted, there was a Guns n Roses concert at the nearby Rose Bowl in the evening). Opting to sit outdoors due to the loud volume in the dining room; we had a perfect ratio of casual and date-worthy. Café Santorini is seamless with its 'vibe'. To begin the evening, we opted for some cocktails with a Smoke and Citrus Paloma (grapefruit and lime juice, smoked sea salt agave syrup and soda water, alcohol free at $12 but I made it alcoholic with mezcal) for me while my friend ordered a traditional margarita on the rocks (no salt) as we gazed the menu and also decided on sharing a Grape Leaves appetizer (rice, herbs, tomato paste - $16). If you are Celiac like myself and need gluten-free options, Café Santorini is AMAZING in its GF options (also dairy free and vegan dishes) with more choices than usual competitor restaurants which that alone makes it stand out from the crowd. Our drinks arrived in classy and colorful derivations with my paloma holding a seducing orange hue akin to a setting California sun with dried rosemary and dried fruit with the margarita being perfectly yellow-ish green with a dried lime. My paloma was delicious with an ideal combination of sweet to alcohol and smoke with the margarita being refreshing and tangy. I am quite picky with grape leaves having friends from the Middle East living in the US but Café Santorini's grape leaves (5 pieces) are delicious both in texture and flavor without being too bitter which is sometimes the case. For dinner I chose the Branzino (Grilled Mediterranean sea bass, lemon Greek potatoes, dill, capers- $42) while my friend wasn't super famished and decided on Greek Salad Horiatiki (Valdivia Farms tomatoes, Persian cucumbers, Anaheim peppers, red onions, Kalamata olives, feta cheese, lemon juice - $17). One of my favorite details of Café Santorini is their capacity to present elegant dishes that are still simple and not pretentious on plateware that encompasses Greece itself with colorful mosaic prints and painted motifs. The ingredients are fresh, colorful and artfully displayed. My Branzino was faultless: grilled perfectly with charred grill marks and crispy skin (large filet) with capers and fresh dill with fingerling potatoes based under the fish soaking up the lemon juices. Delightful! The Greek Salad Horiatiki allowed the garden-fresh veggies to truly shine even with the lemon juice/oil and large piece of feta making it a perfect summer option. Service at Café Santorini is friendly and a family-like atmosphere with every staff member acknowledging you as you saunter by, answering all questions and constantly smiling. Café Santorini is an overall pleasant joy of an experience. Whether you need to impress out-of-state friends or simply seeking Mediterranean fare in Old Pasadena; Café Santorini is a musty-try for a casual meets elegance dining experience.

So my friend and I went this past weekend, I had been boasting to her about how good the food was,…read moreblah blah, blah for quite some time and we needed to come eat here. Come to find out the food is now actually blah blah blah! The cold super thin pita bread was cold & flavorless and oddly comes with a cold cube of butter, what the heck am I supposed to do with that? It won't melt on a cold piece of pita bread. Then the iceberg salad comes out with two small dressing containers to use; this salad had a lot of "bones" [what the hard white parts of lettuce are called]. At least the cucumbers were crunchy, as well as the 2 pieces of tomatoes. I ordered the Koobideh Combo [Beef & Chicken]; and my friend ordered the Chicken Kabob [white meat]. The lacking of flavor in the Koobideh beef & chicken was unbelievable, I asked for a grilled serrano or jalapeno chili and the waitress said they had ran out. I was 2:00 p.m., what do you mean you ran out? We were looking for something to "save" this blandness of both our dishes; thank gawd they have containers of sumac & salt at the table. The basmati rice was bland as well. The beef koobideh, tasted like plain hamburger meat with minimal seasoning. Bottom line, I didn't finish my dish, I just left most of it. My motto is: "If it's not worth the calories, don't eat it." As for the environment: No music, etc. I really don't mean to bash the place; but you guys need to spruce up the place. My seat at the table was ripped; and the table was dirty when we sat down and asked for it to be cleaned (again?). I wish you nothing but the best in this economy!
