First time trying Kolache Factory. I guess I was hoping for something more traditional Czech. This is not the place for that. I got cream cheese, cherry and birria. The birria was very spicy but the kolacke was definitely filled with birrea, no question about that. The sweet fillings were fine. My biggest issue is that I ordered dinner rolls based off of the description on the website and even right here on their Yelp profile. What I got was a box full of cold rolls. I do not know a word in the English language that adequately sums up my love for these little pockets of Heaven, so I'm forced to steal one from the great Will Ferrel....Scrumtrilescent!! Usually when you get a Kolache it's basically a hot dog with too much bread. These have the perfect ratio of filling to bread and the bread has just the perfect touch of sweetness. My absolute favorite [though I have yet to try them all] is the sausage gravy one. It's my favorite breakfast in hand-held form. The service here is always fast and there seem to always be enough to go around. I don't recommend having them heat 'em up for you; go home and put them in your toaster oven. MMmMMmMM. What is a Kolache? I literally had no idea until I saw the kolache factory. They are basically unheard of where I live! We walked in and one of the first thing I noticed was the assortment of kolaches that were being offered! I typically like a savory breakfast, so fillings like egg, potato and sausage were calling my name more than anything. Overall impression: Average. Had the sausage and the ham and cheese kolache. The sausage was $0.90 and the ham and cheese was $1.65. I initially thought, wow, so cheap for the sausage one. Well, it was pretty small and not all that filling. Same can be said for the ham and cheese one, although at least it tastes slightly better. I had a ham and cheese kolache from Buccees that was about $2.50 but it was bigger and tastier than the two kolaches I bought here, combined. So overall, nothing impressive to me. At least they were fast and the kolaches were hot. The cashier was nice enough, I guess. The interior was relatively clean. Free parking. read more

Well here i am, Webster Texas. My first time ever in the state of Texas and where is the first place i visit for something to eat? None other then the Kolache factory. After hearing about kolache's from my Texas raised boyfriend, i knew these were the first things i wanted to try once i landed. I'm born an raised in San Diego and although we have some pretty awesome food these Kolache's were something I've never experienced before. Its set up just like a donut shop, there is a wall of kolaches on the wall behind the register and they are all labeled according to whats inside them. I ordered the potato egg and cheese kolache and a sweet cream cheese one. The savory one was good, but i was a little disappointing with the amount of filling that was actually in it. It was a scrambled egg mixed with salsa and some potato squares. I didn't actually see/taste any cheese. The sweet cream cheese one was very good, it wasn't in the shape of a ball the the savory one. and cream cheese was on top rather then inside it. The sweet bread did however go very well with the flavor of the cream cheese. Over all the price was reasonable, 99c - $1.25 for one. Depending on the filling. The atmosphere was clean and it was enjoyable. But i was told to try one from a donuts shot next time, because i hear they have more filling inside and the bread is a bit softer. =) Ill have to try and see=) read more

The Factory and I have a love hate relationship across the city. When I finally find the perfect spot on one trip, I make a repeat visit and the food is bad and the workers should feel bad for handing that to me. Plus they are sorta' rude when the workers at Ashley AND Shipley's always have Adderall-riddled smiles on their face. This place has the most ridonkey-donculous lack of consistency. One time it tastes like it can cure cancer, the next time the bag is absolutely soaked and dripped grease before it even gets handed across the register to me. What gives? The workers are surly but hey, it is a breakfast place and this is probably as good as their day is going to get except for that bottle of cheap booze waiting for them when they clock out in the wee 2pm hour of the day. If you need a kolache on this side of town to schmooze with your business folk, I think you should probably take your wallet down the road to one of the other chains nearby. read more

We stop in here about 1x a month or so on our way to church on Sundays. The kolaches are offered in a wide range of flavors. They also have whole wheat kolaches. If you are comparing these kolaches to others from Czech communities (Halletsville, Schulenburg) then you may not think these are "real" kolaches. With that, I like the Kolache Factory because they include other ingredients you typically don't find in kolaches. TIP-Try the Italian Chicken if you want something tasty for breakfast. read more

Three stars goes to the Italian chicken and the bread of these little babies. I love soft bread in my mouth, it just melts quicker than hard bread. I ordered the Italian chicken and the philly cheesesteak kolache. The Italian chicken tasted better than the cheesesteak. The Italian chicken had a little flavor and melting cheese oozing in my mouth with the soft bread. The Philly cheesesteak had no flavor, and I didn't like it. The layout of the place looked like an old Italian restaurant maybe that is what used to sit there. Their kolaches aren't what you would get from a donut shop, they aren't big nor long. They are short and fat. Also, for it being a kolache factory it should have MORE options, like more turkey options. They didn't have any turkey kolaches, turkey and cheese, turkey and potatoes, nothing with plain turkey, or turkey bacon. Huge disappointment for it being a kolache factory it should have variety! I probably won't be back, just because the kolaches are small and you don't get what you initially pay for. I got only two kolaches with slight to no flavor for $3. Not much when it comes to a factory. I'm just not too impressed. Oh and the kolaches weren't warm either, they were rather cold and seemed to be sitting for a while. read more

I'm a fan of kolaches (why are they such a mystery outside of this part of the world?!?) and often get them when I'm town. Today we tried Kolache Factory and the food was outstanding. The variety was insane. We went with traditional sausage and cheese each for my wife and I but then shared pizza, sausage gravy, and BBQ brisket kolaches to share. Wow! Just delicious, rich, and joyful food. My only two complaints ... hard to know which Kolache you're eating until you bite into it ... some way to label?? Also, no napkins in the bag ... gotta have napkins. But the service was with a smile and quick and that makes up for those two drawbacks. We'll definitely be back. read more

While this chain is large and moderately popular, it isn't the best out there. For really good kolace you need to go to central Texas, places like West's Little Czech Bakery/Czech Stop are much better than these. There's another really good one, between Houston and Austin. Hracek's? Something like that. Theirs are really good too. On the other hand, I prefer these to the ones you usually get at a traditional donut shop. Those are more like a hot dog in a bun. A few places use a real piece of sausage - the Chappel HIll sausage ones are pretty good substitutes. All I really wanted to say is that if you're from outside of Texas, don't judge the goodness that is a really good kolace by the mediocrity that this chain produces. Kolache Factory is usually our choice for kolaches but this one was not good at all. We stopped in for breakfast one Saturday morning to pair with our Jamba Juices from next door. I ordered a ham and cheese and my SO ordered a bacon, egg, and cheese kolache. Mine had no visible cheese as if they had forgotten to put cheese in it altogether--how do you forget half the ingredients? At the end it was salty that I couldn't even finish it, a five-bite kolache! And the salty taste stayed with me for several minutes. My SO said hers was almost all egg with a hint of bacon in there but almost imperceivable throughout the entire kolache. They advertise good flavors but do not deliver at all! read more

Coming from the Midwest I had never heard of such a thing, but when I tried my first one, I was hooked... what an awesome idea - bake some bread and stuff it with meats, cheeses, jalapeños, eggs, and all kinds of other stuff! In my opinion, Kolache Factory is better than Mornings Kolaches (although they are a close second). I like the taste of their bread better than Mornings and their eggs are way better. So what type of kolaches should you get? I always start with a sausage and jalapeño and usually get a sausage, egg, and cheese or ranchero. I like to think of kolaches as replacements for donuts, so I tend to get breakfast kolaches, but there are all kinds of lunch flavored ones as well like pizza, Philly cheese-steak, etc. So if you've never heard of or had a kolache before, do it! read more

I was in town for the weekend and since I have recently moved to somewhere people believe kolache to be a made up word...I had to have one while there. Although this place has opened since I left I had heard decent things but I have to say that the place barely lived up to the talk. I was happy with the spice of the Jalepeno kolache and the ham and cheese was decent but nothing great. The sausage and cheese was good but this is also a kolache that monkey might be able to put together with proper training... The kolaches were a little smaller than normal so had to buy one or two more but the additional kolaches were well worth it! I only gave it 3 stars because I know that Mornings Kolaches is better so I can't give it, in good conscience, anything more than what I would consider the perfect kolache. read more
