There's a drive-thru and a few outdoor tables. Service is quick and super friendly. Burger Bodega's chopped cheese has always been a hit, and I stan the spicy version, straight fire every time. So when I saw it was getting the kolache treatment with Kolache Shoppe, I had to try it. Flavor wise, it's a fun collab that works. The spicy chopped cheese hits with the same savory punch, wrapped in that soft, slightly sweet kolache dough. It's available in non-spicy too, but for me, spicy is the only way. That said, I do wish the kolache had more filling. The flavor is there, but the ratio felt off--m especially for something this bold. The ones I got had clearly lost some filling during baking, so you're kind of chasing that perfect bite. The store was selling 3 and not just one by itself based on the weight alone. Still, it's a cool fusion moment between two local favorites. If they tweak the filling just a bit, this could go from fun collab to all-time classic. Kolaches are already an all day snack but I'd roll up for a full lunch if I could lock in a spicy chopped. As always, I'm a sucker for good marketing, so I went for the banana bread iced oat milk latte. A little on the sweet side, but honestly delicious. I'd recommend it. The drive-thru was slammed when I got there, so I parked across the street and walked in. Inside, it felt a bit chaotic. There were a lot of people behind the counter, but only a couple of them seemed to actually be running the show. Big shoutout to the few who were clearly keeping things moving. One last note. the register setup is tight. When two people are checking out at the same time, it gets awkward fast. Kolache Shoppe has quickly become one of my favorite kolache spots in town. I usually hit up the Greenway Plaza location since it's closer to me, but this location has a larger selection and doesn't sell out as early in the day, so it's worth the slightly further drive to sleep in a bit more. My go tos are jalapeño brisket egg and cheese and a small sausage and cheese (similar to the sausage & cheese at Kolache Factory). If they would only do a small jalapeño sausage egg and cheese... I usually find egg in kolaches to be overly dry, but Kolache Shoppe's are always perfectly moist. It's the only kolache place where I branch out of my usual jalapeño sausage and cheese mainstay. This spot has a drive thru too in case you don't want to get out of the car, but I find service when you walk in is usually pretty fast - sometimes even faster than the drive thru if there's a rush of cars. You can even place an order online for pickup if you want to save time. If you do, make sure you have your receipt handy. I sent my partner to pick up this morning and they asked him to pay, even though I had already paid for the order online. Luckily, I had shared a screenshot of the receipt with him so he didn't inadvertent double pay. read more

Wow! This place was had quite the crowd at both the drive thru and inside, but for good reason. I've never seen a more complete kolache menu. We went with the breakfast kolaches, which included eggs. There are so many other local donut shops in the area serving kolaches that are just as (or even more so) delicious. That being said, if I'm ever in the area, will I stop by? Absolutely. Visiting the area and we came here on a Sunday. The family friendly place was packed inside the bakery with people ordering and people outside eating . I got the sausage and cheese kolache and an apricot one as well along with a chai tea. Both were delicious! Only thing I found surprising was the small size of the chai tea when for the same amount I could a larger size elsewhere. But regardless it is quite delicious. read more

They also have specialty kolaches of the month / today was Char siu bbq linked with Local fav Roostar in town. They do have specialty coffees which I haven't tried out yet. Usually love this place for a quick bite - but was very surprised when I received my order this morning. Upon pulling it out of the bag I noticed blue and green spots on the bottoms of the kolaches. At first, I thought it was just the shadow from the sausage on the inside, but it looked closer and it was sporadically spread out all over the bottom of the kolache that was also extra extraordinarily damp.... This place has tasty kolaches but they have so many management issues that a trip here ends in heartbreak over half of the times I go. They forget to update their online menus, so sometimes I go to order the flavor of the month and it turns out that was last month's flavor. They're frequently out of the kolache I want. These kolaches are so good! It's definitely my favorite place in the city to get traditional kolaches. My favorites are the brisket, egg, and jalapeño and the sausage, eggs, and jalapeño. The distribution of egg to meat really makes them stand out. The dough is airy and butter and the perfect package for the delicious filling! I also love the seasonal Oktoberfest with sausage and garlic sauerkraut - I wish they offered it year round. I recently had a poppyseed kolache that was aggressive with the amount of poppyseeds, but so delicious! Their Mardi Gras one is so pretty, and I love the drunken pecan one as well. Basically, you can't go wrong savory or sweet! I also love their rosemary and lavender syrups in my decaf americanos. I really appreciate that they offer decaf! For my first trip to Houston, I wanted to grab breakfast from a few local favorites. I was in Houston for a wedding and it was the bride and groom who told me about The Kolache Shoppe. It sounded strange to me that this Czech pastry would be popular in Texas but after taking one bite, I understood why! I arrived on a Saturday around 9:00am and managed to grab a parking spot in the plaza right next to the restaurant. Their drive-thru had cars spilling all the way out into the street - a good sign to me. Upon walking in, I was very surprised with how cozy the restaurant was. I didn't notice any seating inside, only a few tables outside which already had been taken by a few young families - I ended up grabbing an outdoor table from one of the restaurants in the plaza and no one seemed to mind. I started looking at the case of savory and sweet kolaches when a young woman placed by the entrance to direct foot traffic noticed and guided me on the flow of the ordering process. The variety was a little overwhelming at first since I never had a kolache before but the young woman behind the counter was incredibly courteous, friendly, and accommodating and gave me the time I needed to ask questions and for recommendations. The entire crew were hustling and bustling but moving like a well-oiled machine as the drive-thru line moved steadily and the people inside were in and out pretty quickly. Of my order, the one item I had to wait for was my coffee as everything else was ready as soon as I cashed out. For my first kolache, I ordered the Pinkerton's Brisket, Egg & Cheddar with Jalapeno kolache and for a sweet treat, a cinnamon roll from their sweet specialty menu that day. I couldn't believe how soft the kolache was in my hand and as soon as I bit in, I was in heaven. The inside was perfectly warm, the brisket was flavorful and tender, the eggs were nice and warm with all that melty cheddar cheese and plenty of jalapenos to add some extra heat. Afterwards, I sipped on my ice water to cool down for a second, then dug into the cinnamon roll. I'm no connoisseur of cinnamon rolls, but I think this was the softest, most flavorful cinnamon roll I've ever had! This went nicely with my small cup of coffee, rounding out my breakfast. The cinnamon roll was a nice, big piece. I was impressed with the size of the kolache too, but definitely felt I should've ordered a second one to send me to that comfortably full level. I felt the prices here were pretty reasonable given the quantity and great quality food I received. I'm glad I took the bride and groom's advice and went to The Kolache Shoppe! If/when I'm in Houston, I want to come back here for breakfast again and sample a few more of their savory and sweet kolache, maybe pick up a cinnamon roll to go too. read more

The kolaches were delicious, but the wait to get them in the drive thru took a while. Maybe it was just because it was breakfast time in the weekend, but I wish it would have been faster service. I believe they run a bogo special on weekdays an hour or so before closing; however, I think the kolaches aren't as fresh and that's why they're marked down. Truth be told, I think it's worth paying full price for these babies because you can't beat the quality when they are fresh. SO delicious. My bf picked us up some kolaches and coffee yesterday late morning. He said the drive thru had a long line and it took a while to move. He saw people walk in and out faster than the drive thru, so maybe that's what we'll do next time! I got 2 sausage and cheese kolaches. They were okay, the sausage was little too peppery for my taste. My mocha was pretty good though, better than I thought it'd be. Next time I'll actually go and go inside and hopefully try something new I like better! But would get the mocha again for sure. read more

A good friend of mine told me to try Kolache Shoppe. So I got in the car Wednesday morning to see how it was. I have to tell you it was amazing. The cream cheese kolache was delicious. I had the basic Sausage Cheese as well. And the bread... i have no words. I couldn't get enough. So, I went back on Friday with my mom and her best friend. We got 5 more different types of kolaches and they were again delicious. My mom is very picky about her Apricot and as you can see in the pic she couldn't get enough. We live in Katy so living too far away is not an excuse not to try Kolache Shoppe. It is so worth the drive. Kolaches are a Houston staple and must eat when visiting. This shop is super cute, well staffed with friendly folks to help direct lost travelers and warm up online orders. There are options of sweet or savory Kolaches. On this trip we tried the Beef Rendang with Jalapeños and it was amazing, the dough is light and fluffy, the filling is full of flavor, what a fun way to start the day. Their coffee is delicious too.
