From the beginning, I made it clear to Dr Krug that I wanted to use only training techniques with my dog, no meds (she recommended Prozac), and she falsely said that was ok. It was never ok. She kept pushing Prozac and I kept saying I was willing to try it if months went by and the training alone didn't work. After a while, I finally took her suggestion and put him on Prozac because her training techniques alone didn't work. My dog was on these meds long enough to know if it was going to work and it didn't work. After I made this clear, Dr Krug wound up falsifying my dog's records by quoting me with things I never said. When I asked for the recording or transcript of the session(s), she ignored my Emails. When I explained the situation to Dr Pachel and asked for the recording/transcript, he refused. I later found out that Dr Krug was initially Emailing my vet (they sent me an Email), whining that I didn't put my dog on Prozac. My dog is my decision, not yours. You don't get to choose if he's put on meds; I do. If that's not ok with you, don't accept payment and don't tell your customers it is ok when that's not how you feel. They were dishonest (false testimony), unethical (falsified records and refusing to send a recording/transcript), and unprofessional (ignored my requests and concerns). My dog has worked with a certified trainer that teaches me more in one hour than what Dr Krug did in a year. This was the wrong path to take and I found the right path through training, not meds.

The neighborhood vet was out of ideas other than apoquel and more ear drops, and getting exasperated with us, so I turned to NW Animal Allergy & Derm. Helpful over the phone, forthcoming about policies which all seem reasonable for specialized care. At the visit, within the first five minutes Dr. DeManuelle had my girl's issues figured out, then responsibly confirmed with testing before treating. New food and a whole different treatment plan. That very night my dog was 180 degrees better and finally not miserable. A full on transformation. I'd call it a miracle, but frankly it was the, astute, professional expertise of Dr. D along with the great team at NWAAD. The follow-up was excellent and here we are 6 weeks later and still no symptoms. My girl has actual relief - first time in years. Fully recommend!

She made me give her a $280 deposit for an appointment and now won't return even part of it or allow the appointment to be rescheduled. I understand that missed appointments cost vets money but there are times when we do everything we can and traffic happens and work requirements happen and we aren't able to arrive on time. I was 20 minutes late even though I left home an hour before the appointment partly because of traffic jams and partly because I accidentally went through the wrong door of the office. No one else was in the lobby when I arrived but they refused to even talk about potential solutions. I even called from the road and explained why I was running behind. I sent an email a week later and explained the whole story, explained that I could not afford to give away so much money. I suggested she call my dog's regular vet to confirm that I have not been late for appointments with them. She could not even bother to respond to the email. I have since made an appointment with another veterinary dermatologist in Portland who only required a $50 deposit to make the appointment. She will care for my dog and I'll pay her the almost $6,000 to do so, which this vet will lose because she refused to even discuss solutions. Who needs a vet who takes almost $300 of your money for doing nothing for your pet, and shows no mercy when you ask for it just once? This one is clearly in it for profit. I suggest you avoid her.

Everyone there was incredibly kind, empathetic, and understanding. I didn't have pet insurance at the time, so I especially appreciated how straightforward they were about costs. Rather than simply ordering every possible test, they helped me prioritize what was most likely to give us useful information. They were even able to do an X-ray without general anesthesia, which saved quite a bit of money. The X-ray would normally have been sent to a specialist, but after talking through the situation, Dr. Trejo recommended putting the money toward an ultrasound instead because she felt it would give us more useful information in this particular situation. I really appreciated that kind of thoughtful, individualized approach. Dr. Trejo and the entire team were fantastic. They were knowledgeable, compassionate, and never made me feel judged about the financial considerations involved in caring for my cat. I can't recommend them enough and would absolutely go back. After this experience I did end up getting pet insurance for peace of mind, because apparently even a young cat can surprise you with an unexpected medical problem!

We first heard of OFOSA through Instagram and followed our Oscar (formerly Drizzle, of the "Sky Kitten" litter,) from his small beginnings as one of 8 and his mama. His foster mom clearly loves each kitty, kitten and older kitty, as her own from the minute she receives them. I was a foster before I had kids, and it's a hard and thankless job from most adopters. They have no idea the love and emotion that goes into raising a healthy kitty only to see them go home and never see them again. We originally wanted the female calico, Sunny, in the litter. My daughter, who is 8 1/2 lost her "soul mate kitty" in February of 2019 and asked for a kitten, so we thought about it and the timing of this litter worked perfectly with our plan to allow her to pick a kitten. When it came to choice time, we did a blind family vote. We wrote down numbers and read the character traits out. Sunny placed last for us all. She wasn't who we should adopt. But when we tallied it up, Drizzle was our CLEAR first place. Cuddly AND playful was what we were looking for and that's exactly what we got. We adopted him almost a month ago, on 12/11/21 and he very quickly won our hearts. He's 16 weeks now and he's a frisky and mischievous little kitten with loads of energy and spunk. He is an absolute love as well. One day when it's time for another kitty, we will absolutely be doing this same process again. He couldn't be a better fit with us. Thank you SO much OFOSA. On Saturday while on vacation we received a call from a neighbor, the other neighbors dog had jumped their fence and mauled our little 5lb dog. She was dying and there wasn't a lot of time. They called Banks Vet because that was her vet and her ONLY chance at survival. The lady Jennifer just said no. Repeatedly. And rudely. No care at all. Didn't offer any end of life comfort or nothing. Our sweet little baby held on for almost the entire 20 minute drive to Tanasbourne in pain and being basically tortured as she bleed to death. A vet is supposed to care. They are supposed to help. This place did NOTHING. I will never take my animals back to this place.

Since specialists cannot serve as a primary veterinarian, and Cornell Road Vet clinic stated on their website they were taking new patients, I read about their specific Veterinarians and found that one whose profile highlighted an interest in internal medicine, which would be helpful in our specific case. When I first called, I asked to schedule directly with that veterinarian. I was told that they typically did not see new patient evaluations, but that I could make my first appointment and establish care with another doctor and potentially switch later. Since I had already done my research and wanted a veterinarian who would be comfortable collaborating with my puppy's specialist, that solution didn't make much sense to me. I was told that my request would be discussed with the specific veterinarian I wanted to see my pup and that someone would get back to me regarding scheduling. Unfortunately, no one ever followed up. After two weeks of hearing nothing, I had to call the clinic myself to get an update. During that call, I had to re-explain my puppy's medical history and the reason for my request all over again. The whole conversation was a bit disorganized but to that staff member's credit, she did follow through and spoke with the veterinarian that same day. I received a call within a few hours informing me that they would not be taking my puppy as a patient. What was most frustrating was not the decision itself but the lack of communication and the wasted time. Had someone simply informed me of that decision when I first called, or even followed up within a reasonable timeframe, I could have spent those two weeks finding another primary care veterinarian willing to work with a dog who has ongoing medical needs. I was also confused because the clinic's website indicates that they are accepting new patients, which creates an expectation that you can establish care there but instead, I spent two weeks waiting for an answer that never came until I initiated a follow-up myself only to find out they would not schedule us. My experience left me feeling that my time was not respected and communication throughout the process was disorganized and inconsistent.

I took him to the costly initial appointment that consisted of the vet and another person (tech?) sitting in chairs across the room staring and throwing snacks at my dog onto the floor. They proceeded to dissect everything I did with my dog in our day to day lives and shame me for it. And to be clear, at this point, he was walking nicely on a leash with only occasional reactivity to other dogs and trash trucks, he was playing and interacting well with other dogs his size and activity level, he was able to be off leash when we would camp and swim. All of his needs were met, he was becoming a wonderful, well adjusted dog. I was simply just looking for appropriate sedation so he could have stress free vet visits. Instead, I was told everything else I was doing was wrong, that I should put a head collar on him even though I specifically told them he doesn't tolerate it (not all dogs do), and then they suggested I just don't walk him for a few wks. That letting him be in a house and only to a small backyard would help fix a problem that wasn't a problem. Oh yeah and then they said I needed to do their expensive classes which were at this point virtual only. In hindsight, I should have trusted my instincts and found a different primary clinic. If you have a dog that struggles with vet visits, it's not your fault. Some places are very clearly better at handling dogs who have fear and anxiety. And some places are much better about not causing it in the first place. Find a fear free clinic, or one that emphasizes that care. Because once I did that, the whole experience was better. Don't spend $500 or however much the initial visit is to be told you're doing everything wrong and failing at being a pet parent.

Second, all of the sessions were thru video meetings. They weren't able to really observe my cat at all. Third, the video meetings were just them teaching me how to do targeting and placement. They also made a few ridiculous suggestions. Lastly, the person in charge of support, Scott, is terrible and getting into contact with anyone is impossible. Avoid this place at all costs. You are better off watching videos on YouTube for free.
