    my sweet kiddos

I would be really cautious before bringing your pets here. My cat was a patient here for 5 years, since he was born. I took him in for his yearly vaccinations in February. Two weeks later, he was vomiting every time after he ate. I called because I was concerned, and the assistant checked with the vet and they told me it was definitely not a vaccine reaction and to bring him in. I brought him in and we did bloodwork, and the vet said he was fine and treated him for a vaccine reaction anyways. When the meds ran out, he started vomiting again. I called right away and asked if I should get more or come in to get rechecked. I asked about other tests to check for toxins or something else that could be wrong. They said they would call me back, and never did. I woke up a couple days later on March 30th to my cat vomiting and dragging himself across the floor. I rushed him to the emergency vet, where I had to put him down because he had a heart murmur that caused a blood clot in his spine and paralyzed him. I never turned down a test that was recommended for him in his 5 years, I would have done anything to figure out what was wrong and fix it. But all the vet did was treat his symptoms, instead of looking for the actual cause of the issue or recommending more tests. And now it's too late. I didn't intend to post or write anything, because even though this freak accident was so traumatic for my family, accidents happen. However, in that same month, my dog developed happy tail on the tip of her tail. When we took her in to Banks to be seen for this, the vet determined that it was infected. We authorized them to do blood work, cultures, and give antibiotics. They discussed cropping her tail, but the vet told me that that would just be moving the problem up her tail and we could try to save it. We brought her in every 3 days for a bandage change and check up. The culture results took over a week to get back to us, revealing that the antibiotic she was on was wrong for the infection she had. We got the correct antibiotic and continued bringing her in for bandage changes. At her last appointment, the tech told us that it could be unwrapped or we could play it safe and wrap one more time. We opted to have it wrapped, where the tech told us that she did something a little different so if it were to fly off that we could bring her back to have it fixed. It fell off as soon as she got home, and when we brought her back the next morning the assistant refused to see her and wanted us to pay another $45 if they could fit her in later in the day. We decided to take her to a different vet in order to get a second opinion since the tail didn't look right to me. The new vet was shocked, and told us that since she was on the wrong antibiotic for so long that there was no way to safely save her tail. She showed us where the tail was dead, by poking it with a needle halfway up the tail and getting no response from my dog. We immediately booked her surgery that week to get her tail completely docked (not cropped like Banks had mentioned, since that was agreed with the new vet too that that would just bring the problem higher up her tail). If we hadn't brought her to get a second opinion, the tail would have continued decaying until it reached her spine and I would have had to put her down too. I would have lost two of my pets in the span of a month due to irresponsible and neglectful veterinary advice. Our family won't ever be the same, and I feel so stupid that I trusted them with my cats care even when I kept telling them that something was not normal and he wasn't acting right.

Good care for our puppy who went in to be neutered yesterday. I like that they do not believe in "what the market can bear" pricing scheme. ie: Bob's total cost for surgery was $89 not $400-$500 as quoted by almost all other area veterinarians. It was like being back in Iowa, which is always a good, down to earth kind of thing. Update: just went back and had the vet look at a hotspot on Bob. He did a nice number on his behind. They did an awesome job! Thank god we finally have a good vet again. Now we no longer feel like we want to rearrange our holiday when visiting family so our dog can go to our OLD vet. Can you imagine? Post surgery on holday at grandma's house? I would do it though! But, whew.....those thoughts are over now. Thanks Dr. Steve! (Bob does not say this.....he is still mad about being shaved. : )

I've been taking my pets to Banks Vet for over 7 years now. It's a longer drive than going to local vets, but it's so worth it. The prices are fantastic, and the staff clearly love their work and take great care of my pets. One of my kitties has a habit of getting into trouble (and needing to be seen) and Banks Vet can usually see her day of. Highly recommend!

We love Dr. Kim at Banks vet! I will gladly make the 45 minute drive for my lab to be given the best care possible. We were seen at companion clinic once prior and while it wasn't bad, the vet spent 5 minutes looking at my puppy before sending us on our way. A coworker recommended Banks vet and I'm so thankful we gave it a try. Dr. Kim and the staff here are wonderful. Koda got neutered a few months ago and they were very attentive to both him and me, calling me the second he was done with surgery so I knew he was ok (I had a dog growing up who died while at the groomers so I'm a bit paranoid ) . The cost is reasonable as well. Covid has impacted the way vets are taking care of patients and I'm no longer allowed to go in with him but i don't mind as I trust them entirely. I can't say that about other places I've been.

I've taken my animals here for many years. Banks Vet is a small family own clinic where you can bring your loved animals to a safe place and knowing they are in good hands, they are an amazing team and always take such great care of my pug Juice that he actually loves coming in to see all of the employees there. I've also had an after hours farm emergency while house sitting and they were the first people I called, they were so great to come out in the middle of the night to care for my friends goats that were injured. I will never take my animals anywhere else!

    Bruce the one eyed kitty!

About a year ago my fur baby was hit by a car and needed to have his eye removed. Although I called at almost midnight, the doctor answered my call and assured me she could operate on him in the morning when he was released from the vet hospital. They did the surgery for half the price the emergency hospital would have done it. But not only did Banks do a phenomenal job of taking care of my Bruce, they made sure I was updated on how he was doing, which helped this anxious fur momma so much! My 13 year old kitty George had a brain tumor that caused him dizzy spells. We were really afraid we were going to have to have him put down and we were so sad because other than that he was very healthy! Banks suggested we tried out giving him some steroid shots... he would be fine for months after this! This gave us about 2 years extra with him until finally it became more severe. At that point, they worked out a plan where we would come in and get steroids for him about every 2 weeks or so. That gave us around 3 more months of good health with him! When the time came to put him to sleep, they allowed me to stay in the room with him the whole time and then they let me stay with him until I was ready to leave. When I finally came out they made me feel better by showing me his chart and seeing just how long we were able to get him through! Now this week they will actually be spaying my kitten! I love being able to feel safe leaving my babies in their care. Thank you Banks Vet, you guys are amazing!

Each pets history and needs are unique. In the system of vet care nowadays it's so hard to get decent care with a vet! Dr. Tsui is one of the most patient, knowledgeable and empathetic veterinarian providers we have ever met. He is also incredibly well versed in his field, a no-nonsense approach to care for your pet's emotional and physical well being! We have our baby dog who just turned 5 this year and has always been "muzzled" at the vet despite being a sweet dog and being stereotyped for his chihuahua mix breed. Dr. Tsui's team really approached our pup with a new lens each time as they knew it took him time to warm up. We have been seeing vets for 4+ years for our pup and have always had concerns about the reasoning of the care being delivered. Being told to purchase more and more nonsensical treatments but with Dr. Tsui this is just not the case. A straightforward compassionate approach to every visit. TLDR; If you're seeking specialized, caring and reasonable vet care come here. If you're seeking a knowledgeable opinion, this is THE best vet we have ever seen. Knowledge and experience are huge, you're not seeing a rookie vet doctor , this is someone with decades of experience to tell you the no nonsense empathetic route to caring for your pet. This clinic cares for your pet's physical and emotional well being translating to a longer time with your beloved pet :) we are so happy with the care we received here. Thanks North Plains Clinic!

Since specialists cannot serve as a primary veterinarian, and Cornell Road Vet clinic stated on their website they were taking new patients, I read about their specific Veterinarians and found that one whose profile highlighted an interest in internal medicine, which would be helpful in our specific case. When I first called, I asked to schedule directly with that veterinarian. I was told that they typically did not see new patient evaluations, but that I could make my first appointment and establish care with another doctor and potentially switch later. Since I had already done my research and wanted a veterinarian who would be comfortable collaborating with my puppy's specialist, that solution didn't make much sense to me. I was told that my request would be discussed with the specific veterinarian I wanted to see my pup and that someone would get back to me regarding scheduling. Unfortunately, no one ever followed up. After two weeks of hearing nothing, I had to call the clinic myself to get an update. During that call, I had to re-explain my puppy's medical history and the reason for my request all over again. The whole conversation was a bit disorganized but to that staff member's credit, she did follow through and spoke with the veterinarian that same day. I received a call within a few hours informing me that they would not be taking my puppy as a patient. What was most frustrating was not the decision itself but the lack of communication and the wasted time. Had someone simply informed me of that decision when I first called, or even followed up within a reasonable timeframe, I could have spent those two weeks finding another primary care veterinarian willing to work with a dog who has ongoing medical needs. I was also confused because the clinic's website indicates that they are accepting new patients, which creates an expectation that you can establish care there but instead, I spent two weeks waiting for an answer that never came until I initiated a follow-up myself only to find out they would not schedule us. My experience left me feeling that my time was not respected and communication throughout the process was disorganized and inconsistent.

Prescribed an rx, suggested a great cherry supplement to promote UT health and some lightly medicated wipes. Bella was totally at ease and felt better within a couple of days. July 26, this year Bella was acting strange, the light went out of her eyes and she's just looked at me helplessly. Then I noticed her back legs were outstretched while she lay flat on her tummy. Then her front legs slipped out from her and remained out stretched as well. What is happening? I sat down in front of her asking what was wrong and tried to help her sit back up, but when I did she just started at me and they slid back down. Then her bladder and bowels expelled while she never made a move. I quick and got my neighbor who suggested we make a hammock out of a blanket to get her downstairs and into my car. She was 75 lbs...not fat ir overweight though. Anyway, I drove to CPC from Bethany where Alex (one of their technicians) met me and carried her quickly into the back room where Dr. Michelle was. After a few minutes(which seemed like eternity to me) Dr. Michelle came in and sat down beside me explaining that my Belle was non-responsive and believes she had a severe stroke. Me, being ignorant to this condition replied..'ok, what do we do next? How long will she be like this' Dr. Michelle took my hands and looked me in the eyes and said, Kathleen, Bella is unresponsive...' after a couple of seconds my mind caught up with her words and my heart broke. I kept asking if she was sure while crying my eyes out and trying to catch my breath. She quickly reached for a box of tissue for me. And hugged me. She said if it were her dog,(she has a golden) this is what she would do..as she was totally unresponsive. She asked if I would like them to bring my girl into the exam room where I was and of course I somehow communicated, yes. Alex brought my sweet girl in in a blanket and layed her down. I layed in the floor next to her just holding her...nose to nose, letting her, trying to see if her eyes would flinch or her ear twitch. This was the most tragic and unexpected thing in my life. Dr. Michelle told me to take my time and she would check on me soon. After a but she came in and explained about the first step. I just continued to lay next to my Belle talking to her softly. You know the rest of the story I'm sure. They helped me through every step and I cannot imagine a more compassionate group of people through all of this. Afterward she gave me some time to lay with her until I was ready to get up. So, writing this was a bit cathartic for me. My point is, even in this most difficult time, I'm so glad Companion Pet Clinic was there for us. A MILLION THANKS Dr. MICHELLE AND TEAM. #bella#bestfriendandfaithfulcompanion

However, in my dog's greatest time of need, I have had no responses to the two urgent voicemails and was on hold for over 15 minutes trying to find out what the plan was going to be for my dogs care. I spoke with staff at my dog's last visit 4 days prior and they stressed to me to just let them know when it's Cheeto's time and they'll accommodate me/us. I ended up hanging up after the long hold and called a veterinarian down the street, who are able to get Cheeto in very quickly (I am grateful for that because my beloved dog is suffering.) Additionally, when I was a client here at Companion, any prescriptions that Cheeto needed were at least 3 times more expensive than anywhere else I looked. And they charge you a fee for the prescription to be sent out to another (cheaper) prescriber - and med was still cheaper elsewhere after the addition of their fee. In conclusion, I am very disappointed at their response (or lack of) when my dog is in such critical need.
