we came here 2 days in a row because there were so many different things we wanted to try. overall i give this place 4 stars but here's my breakdown:
miso ramen: 1/5 - i was VERY disappointed with this ramen. the broth was a bit bland. i added corn to my ramen which made it better. the pork was... interesting... and actually ruined the ramen for me entirely. it was cut up into small chunks and i'm not sure if it's from the mustard greens they put in this ramen but i didn't like the flavor of the pork at all. i was expecting the thinly sliced tender and buttery chashu pork most japanese ramen have. i ended up eating the portion of my noodles and corn that did not have the little pieces of pork completely mixed in with them and barely touched the broth. the flavor of the pork really just killed the ramen for me. never again will i order ramen from this place.
rolls: 4/5 - the spooky roll and alone together rolls were both pretty good. the quality of sushi is good and i think you get 8 pieces per roll. the crunchy dynamite roll was so-so but only because we just didn't like the flavor of the spicy tuna that much. the quality of the fish was still good. we still ate the whole thing. *** one thing that i appreciated was that every time they brought a roll to us, they named it and described everything that was in it. some places you go, the server brings your roll and if you ask which one it is, they have absolutely no idea. good job, kome.
kara-age teishoku: 5/5 - if you like chicken and fried food, you will love this. it's small pieces of japanese style fried chicken but doesn't taste greasy and it comes with a mayo based sauce. it comes with soup, salad and rice and the salad dressing is very good
kayaku udon: 4/5 - good size, especially for udon. it has shrimp tempura, raw spinach, seaweed, inari (tofu skin), fish cake, and egg. i thought the egg was really cool because it had "kome" branded on it which is great for presentation! you can see my photo of it. my only complaint about the udon was the temperature of the broth because it was just barely warmer than lukewarm. i still enjoyed it and would recommend getting it.
service: 5/5 - both times we went, our servers were very friendly and answered any questions we had. dustin served us the 2nd time and he was AWESOME! very friendly, very patient with all our questions, very helpful and even asked the manager and/or cook if they could sort of combine 2 things we wanted into one. basically, we wanted a katsu teishoku but with curry over it (like curry house for those of you from CA). they were willing to do this for us but i ended up ordering the udon because i had the craving for it. next time, we will ask them to put curry over the katsu teishoku. there was a guy that went around refilling everyone's water and taking away empty plates. we never had to ask for water because he was very attentive and walked around with a friendly smile. every member of the staff we came across was very courteous and friendly.
the parking sucks because this place gets pretty busy and there are very few spaces in their small lot. you will most likely have to street park and even that can be challenging. be prepared to deal with that and have to wait for a while but i think it's worth it, as long as i don't ever get the ramen again. they take reservations for parties of 6 or more and they have a party room which they say can seat 6-10 comfortably. you can fit 12 but that's pushing it and you may have to do the "take some and pass it down" method of getting dishes to your party. this place can get a little loud. we even noticed that they have cushions up on the ceiling on one side of the restaurant to drown out some of the noise.
all in all, a great place. beside the ramen which i thought was horrible, everything else seems to be pretty good here, especially the sushi. there are still some dishes that we want to try so we will definitely be back here again! we can't wait to eat some sushi, not just rolls. read more
