I really enjoyed this place. They seemed a little short staffed and weren't very attentive behind the bar so I took away a star but the food was VERY good and super fresh. I always love when restaurants use real crab (not krab/krab sticks) in their sushi - makes a WORLD of difference and I'm happy to pay the premium for quality ingredients like that. Such an amazing find in Shepherdstown! Came here for lunch on a Sunday afternoon and was so happy to have my hankering for quality Thai food fulfilled. Their Lemongrass (Tom Yum) soup had such amazing flavor as did their Pad Thai. Prices were reasonable, given the volume of food. You can easily get a couple meals out of one order. Yum! After seeing two world premiere plays at the Contemporary American Theatre Festival, we decided to return to the sushi place we had visited once before. Server Chelsea was friendly and helpful. But it was the food that was the headline. The duck appetizer was delicious. The sushi platter had large hunks of fish that were clearly very high quality. We used to love coming to Kome, but the past couple experiences for my husband and I have been less than pleasant. Tonight (a slow Tuesday evening) we placed an order for pickup. Two appetizers and three rolls. Got an email saying it would be ready in 30 minutes. Got there right at the 30 minute mark and my husband had to wait around an extra 10 minutes for the sushi. We decided to park and eat because we had ordered fried apps and didn't want them to get soggy on the way home. The gyoza we ordered was ice cold and barely pan fried. The other app (soggy) wasn't our fave, but it was something new we wanted to try. All three of our rolls were shoved into one shabby container, which isn't great for us because I do not eat crab. The bagel tempura roll was hardly edible because of how thick they rolled it. At almost $75 later, you'd think they'd care slightly about presentation and not skimping on the sauces and other ingredients. We will likely not be returning. read more

Top notch Thai! Great service and food. Crispy spring rolls, chicken panang curry, and pork drunken noodles (Thai hot) were our choices and matched our favorite Thai places over the years. Thai hot was spot on for me, not over the top, but definitely spicy! I have a hard time passing up drunken noodles on a menu, so I haven't tried their sushi or other dishes, but the few I saw being delivered to other tables looked great also. read more

This restaurant believes an appropriate reaction to a customer (who's been supporting them for 10 years) returning food is to publicly shame and humiliate that said customer. The last time I checked...restaurants are a part of the hospitality industry. I'm not sure the staff here even knows the definition of hospitality. I get it. Everyone and every place has bad days; off days. Sometimes food won't be up to par. This chicken was inedible. Even that's fine, whatever. But the reaction from the staff was the most unprofessional thing I've ever witnessed and I've worked behind a bar for 20 years. You should all be ashamed of yourselves for the way you handled this situation. The appropriate measures would have been to apologize and offer to make something else...but no, instead you slammed the bag down and tore open the containers and accused the customer of not knowing how things are prepared here. So not only does your food suck and is inedible your customer service is laughable. So yeah, shame on you guys. Do better next time... read more

SO much better since they switched from Kazu to Kome. Yes it's more expensive, but the food is superb. BEST Crab Wontons/Ragoons I have EVER had. You can actually see (and taste) the shredded crab in them, and the sweet strawberry sauce pairs perfectly with them. read more

I have to say, I was surprised at how much I enjoyed the food here. Finding a good Thai place in the area on the first try (and recommendation of a friend) was pretty sweet. We popped in for dinner after some drinks down the street, and it's a cute spot. The tuna roll was delicious and as of late I'm struggling with enjoying sushi - combination of bad experiences and something just not being on point. My friend had the volcano roll and we ordered chicken pad Thai, drunken noodles and a bottle of Merlot. The serving size on the pad Thai was enormous, I had enough leftovers for a huge lunch today. This was formerly known as "Kazu Thai". There is a new owner and staff and the new owner has one or more other locales. Food is roughly the same as previous establishment but the portions are smaller and cost more. There is no lunch portion or pricing on weekends any more. The sushi is noticeably different and smaller. I have eaten here for ten years and can't say that I look forward to it nearly as much. New owner: No one wants to see you hovering near the front door much less sorting your mail and doing your paperwork at the bar. It's just not the right vibe. You also need weekend lunch prices.
