Food was pretty good (although could have used more flavor) and portions were generous. We ordered a couple hibachi entrees (the steak and shrimp is the way to go!), chicken fried rice, and jalapeno roll - plenty for a family of 4 (we even had leftovers!). My group of 7 stopped by for lunch after a morning of tubing down the Shenandoah River. We all ordered various hibachis. The meat and veggies were seasoned and cooked very well!! I was excited to try out this spot while on a camping trip. After a long day in the sun, the last thing I wanted to do was cook over a campfire. Mu mouth has been blessed by this food. Absolutely a 10 outta 10, but there are some things to note. This food is so good it deserves a brick and mortar, but don't let the fact that it's a good truck scare you. It is some of the best hibachi I've had in the DMV area. We were super happy to find Yatai Hibachi after a recent river tube excursion. We were hungry and consulted the trusty Yelp app for a place to get a late lunch - bing! The menu and location were for us - an omnivore, a vegetarian and a pescatarian. Service was friendly and we were able to shop at the farm stand next to where they set up shop. The food came out without too much of a wait and we were rewarded with tasty eats. My shrimp tempura sushi-rito was excellent and my companions enjoyed their veggie stir fry and salmon dishes. They were out of the Panang curry which is the whole reason I was ordering from them, I wasn't disappointed at all. I got the shrimp hibachi, and chicken fried rice. It was superb and the orange slightly sweet sesame sauce is incredible, definitely need to make sure you get extra, it totally accentuates the flavor from the grill. Ordered carry out. They said it would be ready in 35 minutes. I arrived in 20 minutes, and to my surprise the order was already available for pickup. I spent $37 including tip for one sushi roll, one shrimp hibachi, and one teriyaki stick appetizer. The chicken teriyaki sticks were tough, rubbery and inedible. The sushi roll was tasty but cold (shrimp tempura should have been warm at least), the shrimp hibachi entree tasted good but contained only six very small shrimp. Cheap styrofoam packaging probably resulted in the food not staying hot during the 10 minute trip home. This is basically a food truck charging the same prices as nice brick and mortar restaurants. The folks that own this truck should really open a Hibachi restaurant; the food was fantastic. I just happed by this truck today because I thought it was a well known Barbecue Truck. My disappointment. I order anyway. The two items I bought were over priced. I got chicken fried rice with extra chicken and chicken teriyaki on a stick. The chicken teriyaki on a stick was served two sticks with chicken pieces on it they tasted pretty good however they cost six dollars. In my opinion they were not worth three dollars each. The chicken fried rice was under cooked the chicken tasted like teriyaki chicken which they tell you it is there was nothing else in it, no vegetables, nothing..just teriyaki sauce and chicken and it was also very pricey. So when I got home I put some more water hoping it would tender the rice up a little bit. I doubt if I'll stop by this truck again their menu is very limited. My boyfriend and I absolutely LOVE Yatai. We try to come at least once a week after work. Yes, it's just that delicious! Nothing better than a friendly face smiling at you while taking your order after working a long day on the river (we're raft guides), and you just know so much love is put into the food they prepare. Prices are fair, family owned by amazing people who are always friendly, and spectacular food! Never once have I had a single complaint about this place. I get the beef bulgogi and my boyfriend gets the steak hibachi meal, 10/10 recommend. Their sushi is also very yummy.
