Immediately I was greeted by the sweetest woman at the cashier and she explained what was in each of the buns I inquired about. I saw the news about Komugi and it's been a bakery I've been meaning to try and it didn't disappoint! When you first enter, the space is very clean and you're greeted by the owner. It's a very small space and there's no tables or seating inside. The pastries that they sell are displayed near the register as well. Food: these are Japanese style breads and pastries so the bread is soft and the pastries are not too sweet. I bought a couple items and they were all very good. I also got a latte and it was a strong coffee. Personally, I like the chocolate emoji bread. The bread was very soft and fluffy and the filling had the right amount of sweetness. Location: there's no metered parking outside the bakery and if you're quick, the residential parking might be an option where you can double park quickly. My friend got me treats from here for my birthday and it was my first time trying them. I love custard buns and I love matcha. I liked both of them, I warmed them up at home to eat. The matcha sunrise is more like roll with the matcha sugar on top and the consistency of that topping makes it balanced since there's nothing in the middle. Super excited to try Komugi and they didn't disappoint. The bread is soft, pillowy and everything you'd want in Japanese bread. They're continuously baking so there's always fresh items coming out and they have a good mix of classic and unique items that we don't see in Boston yet. The space is small and is best for take out. I came in a bit later (11:30am) and they were sold out of their donuts, cinnamon roll and filled buns so come early for a larger selection. The line moved on the slower side but they opened quite recently and are super busy so this wasn't too surprising. I waited about 20 minutes. The matcha sunrise was fantastic and I keep telling people about it because you can really taste the matcha. I also tried the everything salt and butter roll as I am so excited to see salt bread here in Boston. Good, buttery flavor that isn't too salty. Came in around 9 on Sat hoping to beat the crowd and get a full selection and I was right! They are located right on a corner of a 5way intersection so it was hard to park in front of the store. My bf dropped me off and I went in to grab the goods. The bakery smelled amazing with fresh baked goods and they had a sample of everything salt butter roll at the counter. It was amazing!! I ended up getting a red bean salt butter roll and curry pan. I was warned that the curry pan is fresh out of the oven so very hot. I found myself in the area and figured I'd pop by. The shop is small without any tables but I saw two girls sitting on the one of the many window ledges so that's an option. I ordered an iced matcha latte with oat milk and two pastries, the matcha sunrise and the cube anpan. I ate the matcha sunrise before I could take a good photo, but it was nice and light with a subtle matcha taste. The latte was excellent and had a strong matcha flavor, which I enjoyed. Cute Japanese bakery that just opened in the neighborhood. I came in soon after they opened in the morning so many things were still coming fresh out of the oven. This is how I ended getting a ham and cheese panini when my intention was to just get pastries to-go. The panini was delicious and perfectly gooey and flavorful. I also bought the sunrise bread roll which is a soft bread roll with a cookie-like crust on top. That was also very good and the bread was still soft hours later when I tried it. My husband and I were so happy that they are so close to us. Their matcha is so much better than anyone else in the area. Not too milky or too sweet plus not bitter. My husband was impressed with their coffee as well. We wish they open at least 5 days a week.
