    Matcha mochi

I got their black sesame soft serve and it has the most robust, intense black sesame flavor, balanced perfectly with some sweetness. The texture of the soft serve is just right and if you eat it indoors it doesn't melt too quickly. The mochj ice cream is a bit of a novelty and pretty cool concept but I prefer just the soft serve by itself.

Wow this was so good! The mochi was so soft and chewy and the soft serve has a very robust flavor. The black sesame was rich and creamy while the mango was fruity and refreshing. A great place for a sweet treat!

Service was nice and quick! Aesthetic of the desserts were simple and cute. Flavors were A-MAZING. I was in-love with the Hojicha icecream and mochi. This was my first time getting fresh mochi and it was so soft and chewy and paired perfectly with the Hojicha icecream. Highly recommend!! It's located in this fun little food hall to explore as well. If I'm ever in Boston again, I'm coming back!!

Top notch hojicha and black sesame soft serve, the flavors really come through compared to some other spots in town. If you're on the fence about trying kyoyo haus but like these two ice cream flavors it's worth trying out. The black sesame flavor is definitely one of the best ones I've had since the flavor is more bold. They give samples of their ice cream and you can even get some of the flavors swirled. I didn't know their ice cream came with a flavor syrup and coarse sugar sprinkled on top. Next time I'm going to ask to omit these since they didn't add anything to the ice cream.

My friend and I came here and we LOVED it! They have a specialized set of mostly Japanese-inspired soft serve flavors, and any of them can be turned into a mochi ice cream. The staff let us try multiple flavors and we decided on getting the matcha soft serve and the milk tea mochi ice cream. The matcha flavor was delicious and the milk tea ice cream tasted exactly like milk tea. The mochi was soft and fresh. We felt that the servings were pretty generous and fairly priced. We'd definitely come back and try some of the other flavors! A small hidden gem in the Harvard Square food court.

I thought this was delicious! The mochi ice cream is $6.75 and that felt a little high for the size of the dish, but it is a tasty dining experience. The mochi is soft and chewy, and the ice cream was very flavorful! The location is a little lacking in the garage, but I'd visit again!

The term "Asian Inspired" can be automatically explained as "Americanized." Soft Serve Matcha: To be fair, the matcha itself is quite standard, not too sweet, and you can taste both its bitterness and aroma. But who can understand the despair emerged when I discovered that the red dropper and toppings were strawberry juice and white sugar respectively? Adding sugar directly because it wasn't sweet enough--do you really have to be so drastic...? The ice cream wasn't exactly "soft" either, you can clearly feel the lumps and ice crystals when scooping it.

Got the Hojicha soft serve mochi! Loved that they use soft serve for the mochi ice cream, such a great texture. Will be back to try other flavors!

One of those rare places that live up to the instagram hype! Kyoyo Haus is located within the Garage in Harvard Square on the first floor. They have a few shared tables with the other Garage restaurants. The menu has two options-- mochi ice cream or soft serve, with a bunch of flavors including matcha, black sesame, milk tea, honey, mango, and ube. We went with a group and tried the matcha, ube, milk tea, and honey, which were all incredible! They hand cover the ice cream with mochi and then add a little syringe with flavored oil for the aesthetic! The main and most important part was the mochi was incredible! So soft and stretchy and perfectly not too sweet. The ratio was also really good and you had a lot of mochi:ice cream. The flavors were super yummy-- matcha was my favorite but the honey was a surprise hit! It had a more creamy taste and wasn't too sweet. The milk tea was really good though a bit sweater. Overall I would absolutely come back here!

Great Japanese inspired soft serve and mochi ice cream! I appreciate the sweetness of all the ice cream flavors is just sweet enough rather than cloyingly sweet. I recommend the sesame, hojicha, and adzuki. Soft serve is $5.75 (w/o tax) and mochi ice cream is $6.75 (w/o tax). Service is really friendly and they explain their offerings. They also offer free samples of the different flavors to help you decide which one best works for you. This is located in the Garage and shares dining space with a bunch of different food vendors.

Mochi ice cream crafted on the spot! They have a handful of flavors, and we got to try the thai tea/milk tea and azuki milk. I was able to mix the thai tea and milk tea ice cream flavors in one mochi, but they are only able to do certain combos. The mochi ice cream was delicious!! The mochi was thinly wrapped but still strong enough to hold together, and they also added extra toppings like milk tea/thai tea/strawberry/tapioca. The yuzu tea wasn't as memorable as the ice cream, but I'd definitely recommend stopping by. The cafe is located inside the Garage, so it's not as easy to see on the street but you'll immediately find it once you enter the building. There are also many tables with seats scattered around the lobby/main walking area for you to sit and enjoy your dessert.

I was super excited to try a mochi ice cream place but unfortunately the mochi isn't to my standards. The mochi was too starchy and the chew didn't feel right, it felt like it wasn't chewy enough? The ice cream was fine, and I feel like the oil is gimmicky because it doesn't add much. The oil is hydrophobic and doesn't actually absorb into the matcha well at least.

Delicious mochi soft serve in Harvard Square! They have lots of flavors to try such as milk tea, matcha, ube, honey, black sesame and mango and offer both soft serve only and mochi soft serve which is a scoop of soft serve wrapped in mochi dough. The mochi soft serve includes a small pipette which adds concentrated flavor to the soft serve. I got matcha and it was the perfect balance of earthy matcha flavor and sweetness. Will definitely be back to try more flavors. The shop was very busy but the line moved quickly.

The karaage was crispy but not overfried. The inside meat was juicy and cooked right the perfect way. For my meal, I ordered the Yakitori Don, a bit of a plain dish compared to some of the other foods this restaurant has, but still good! My yakitori chicken was hot and tender. Scallions were also cooked well and paired well with the rice and chicken. As for the poached egg, I ate a portion of it separately, and mixed the remaining part of it into the bowl with the rice for more flavor. My family ate the Ittoku Ramen and the Gyu-Yakimeshi. They thought the ramen was alright, taste was not bad, though they wished there were a bit more toppings and noodles. As for the Gyu-Yakimeshi, they also thought it was fine, but there wasn't as much flavor and taste in the dish as they expected. For dessert, we shared a Crème Brûlée. It was kind of pricey, costing around $12, but baked amazingly well. We all loved it! Service was great, nothing bad to say in that aspect. The interior was also nicely designed and welcoming.

Pork Cutlet Curry: The restaurant specializes in fried foods, with the pork cutlet being their absolute signature dish. Although the cutlets were on the thinner, leaner side, each one was fried to order, resulting in a crispy exterior and tender, juicy interior, fragrant but not greasy. The breadcrumbs were especially fluffy and light, bursting with flavor on the palate, which was incredibly satisfying. The curry was authentic Japanese curry--rich, mild, and slightly spicy with a distinct fruity aroma, perfectly suited to my taste. Unfortunately, I forgot to ask for a runny egg for the $2 additional egg; otherwise, it would have been even better. And at only $15 a serving, including a salad/miso soup, it's incredibly good value for money, perfect for lunch. Fried Oysters: Also crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, the oysters were fresh and juicy. The lemon juice and salad dressing were refreshing. I felt they were even more delicious than the pork cutlet. The place is located in Lesley University's Main Hall and has only four tables, so you may have to wait.
