This might be my worst review yet. This place hasn't done my dad and I wrong yet until today!! My dad really wanted to come eat here again instead of trying yet another new restaurant so we arrived and the hostess was very, very confusing in trying to offer us something about a Happy Hour but it included food and she said we had to sit either outside or by the bar and finally an African American waiter just said that we could sit wherever we liked so my dad decided to sit on the inner most area literally right smack dab next to the kitchen. J. was our waiter and we started off ordering avocado egg rolls which were really good and a spicy yellowtail sushi roll. This other waitress brought us yellowtail sashimi and I told her that, that wasn't ours. I watched her walk over to J. and he took the plate and brought it back to us and said that's what we ordered and I thought ok, and began to eat it but I started thinking and was like "no, this isn't what I ordered" so I asked the same helpful African American waiter for a menu and when he brought it I asked him if the plate in front of me was the same as the roll on the menu and he said no it wasn't so he kindly went and told J. whom did eventually fix the problem and brought us the right sushi roll with our food. I don't know what the problem was but it took what seemed like forever for my dad to get his second brandy and Coke. I'm assuming maybe J. forgot about it but I'm really not sure so I don't want to throw the blame on him. My dad ordered Macadamia Nut Chicken and I ordered a Cuban sandwich. Once the food arrived i asked Jorge for some ketchup to go along with my sweet potato fries. I watched him and I waited and waited and once I saw him eventually walk over to the hostess and begin talking to her I turned to the hostess that had originally confused us and whom now was folding silverware right next to us, M., and I asked her for ketchup to which she kindly obliged. I think J. saw her bringing me ketchup and immediately poured some and then brought it too me as well right after her but anyway, accidents happen and sometimes we forget stuff. My Cuban sandwich was alright, nothing as good as the Cuban food we had in Miami a few years ago. The bread was toasted a bit too much and some parts were a bit too hard. My dad really liked his chicken but wasn't too fond of the green beans that accompanied them. We finished with a butter cake which was really, really good and it was accompanied with some ice cream. Now, to my main gripe, I really didn't pay too much attention to the hostesses looks when we first arrived cuz I was trying to understand what she was offering us so when she was standing next to us folding silverware I didn't know that it was her and since she was dressed different from the wait staff I thought that she was a manager until a waitress told me that she was the hostess and it all came rushing back. Well the reason I asked that waitress for M.'s name was because I wanted to give her props for bringing me my ketchup and I kept my eye on her because I wanted to make sure that I was able to get her name to properly thank her in this post but while I was watching her I saw her walk off to the back with her hands over her mouth. I don't know if she was sneezing or what but after that she took the rubber band out of her hair and redid her hair and put it back into a bun. I was watching and I started actually praying for her thinking to myself "please don't let this good intention of giving her props turn into a nasty and gross post about her not washing her hands" and sadly that's exactly what happened. I could see the hand washing station from where I was sitting and she never went and washed her hands before coming back to start folding the clean utensils again in the napkins. One thing I clearly remember about my very first cooking class many moons ago was that your hair is one of if not thee dirtiest part of your body!! Now, I'm sure that M. is a clean lady and I don't like, I hate to call people out, and I pray that it was only a one time lapse but I feel like it's important to point this out because it's from stuff like this that people get sick such as my dad and I have in the past and I'm sure everybody has gotten sick also at some time or another or in my dads case 2 years ago, got C. Diff which can kill you as it did one friends mom and it had my dad in the hospital for 2 and a half weeks. I've never once had any kind of complaint and even have gone up to managers there and complimented them on food and or an employees service but this visit was just very lack luster!!! I will give them the benefit of the doubt and will be back thou because the food and service all the other times before has been top notch and hopefully it won't happen again!! I did speak with a manager, Elizabeth, about the hair thing, whom said that she would address the issue so.... Overall thanks to today's visit they drop to a 4 on my scale but today's visit was a 2! read more
