I use to go here when they first opened. I was in the neighborhood and decided to grab Togo. They said 15 min and I couldn't wait inside because they have no AC and it was 90degrees outside so you could imagine how gross it was inside. Went to my car to wait. Came back and stood there for 5 min while the girls are on their phones giggling. Finally I get their attention and they hand me my food which has been sitting on the counter for who knows how long. I said to the girl it didn't feel hot and she said yes it is. It was not hot and to top it off they got my order wrong gave me shrimp fried rice instead of vegetable friend rice and the beef sticks were as hard as a rock. Cold food, wrong food, gross food. Spectacular Chinese food, I'm blown away I had the Fried Garlic Tofu and the side of garlic broccoli. I must say and I'm a big traveler that this was the best Chinese I've had in years if not ever and this is a take out joint. The atmosphere is dull there is basically no atmosphere there are only two tables they still think Covid is happening, but who cares when the food is so amazing. bag was nicely packed with no leaks. First thing i noticed in my egg foo young was that it was loaded with onions. Perhaps too many. But at least they were cooked. The dish itself was good. Probably because it had a lot of oil. It looked a little brownish. I thought it was burnt, but it wasn't. It was good. There were few shrimp in it. The brown sauce that came with it tasted a little like soap, so i didn't use it. The hard noodles that were in a little bag seemed stale. The rice tasted good flavored with oil. I can understand the over rated scores since this area is void of good authentic Chinese and other Asian restaurants and take out. My chicken chow mien had almost no chicken. Two tiny pieces in a large portion. Pork lo mein is greasy. If this was in an area where you could get good quality Chinese and Asian food it would get one star. I gave one extra star because the ribs were OK. What I don't understand is why someone who seems to not liked anything they bought rated 4 stars. The place has strange barriers like others mentioned. The people behind the barrier that someone else mentioned makes it difficult for the staff to hear your order. You have to raise your voice and bend over to speak into the area where they pass the order to you. Even so they got my order wrong anyway and I had to wait another ten minuets for them to make the correct item. They told me to call next time because they can hear better on the phone. Reheated the scallionless pancakes. They were soggy so we put them in the air fryer where they are literally dripping in grease. Need a magnifying glass to find the scallions. read more

I've been ordering takeout for as long as Frypan has been here. At first it was just okay, then they upped the quality, and I've loved this place. Last night we were not so lucky: WONTON SOUP had no greens, and no pork. EGG FOO YOUNG was so bland, it lacked flavor. BBQ SPARE RIBS were not the fat juicy ribs, but long thin lean ribs, which looked like veal to me. I hope this doesn't continue, or it's back to Mattituck for takeout. read more

I called Tina to book the catering and she helped me decide the dishes based on the number of guests I have. This is one of the best Chinese food experience I've had in a long time. We ordered 2 dishes from their menu. Chicken Mei Fun was a good pick, which consists of thin noodles stir fried with fresh vegetables and choice of meat. The second dish, Sesame Chicken was prepared to perfection in a sweet tangy sauce with steamed broccoli served on a bed of seasoned rice. Both dishes were perfectly executed with authentic flavors coupled with fresh ingredients intented of being served as a home cooked meal. Fry Pan's menu has many intriguing options with Daily Specials, Chef's Choice Favorites, and Dinner Combination Options. The restaurant is kept very clean and offers a family friendly environment with plenty of seating. Definitely a better option compared to your traditional run down Chinese food scene in town. While I was there picking up my food I saw a man in the kitchen cooking . He stuck his BARE hand in. Soup looking container and took something out of it then proceeded to place it in boiling water I guess to loosen it up and then used the end of a strainer basket handle to stir it around . I wish i could have canceled my order right then and there that was so disgusting . How insanitary he needs to not be putting his bare hands in someone's food . We are local Riverhead residents so we have tried them all. We usually go to Lobster Wok. The last 2 times we got food there it was not good so we figured we would try Frypan. Best decision ever.
