What a meal! My mom and I were hungry for dinner on the beach, but on a Friday night, we knew we'd wait forever anywhere nearby. I'm so glad we decided to try somewhere new. It seems more of a takey-outie or delivery place, so the decor/atmosphere is very low key, which might make some folks dining in take pause. Everything was very clean, and the service was immediately super friendly and attentive. We got some guidance on the menu, and ordered a lot of food, knowing we'd have leftovers, but everything sounded so good. We ordered the crispy chicken over fried rice, (real) crab rangoons, pork drunken noodles, and beef red curry. At mom's request they added a bunch of veggies which was no problem since everything was made to order, so fresh. They were also kind enough to offer us a few spring rolls ahead of ordering that, with their clear dipping sauce, were absolutely phenomenal. I told my mom when ordering that it'd be impossible to order the wrong thing, and unless we got very lucky, I was right. Every item was the best I'd ever had, and mom, a newbie to Thai, by the end of the meal was already planning her next trip. By then we'd learned that our waitress and the chef were the proud new owners of this special little spot that they'd taken over from now retired family members. In the time we were there, they made us feel like part of that family, and we're wishing them all the luck in the world, but with food & service like that, they won't need it! During this time of social distancing my husband and I have decided to give our local restaurants at least 1 takeout night a week. My girlfriend suggested we try Hong Thai in Seabrook NH. We had never tried it so we gave it a go. We did have a hard time finding the menu online. I actually found a menu that someone had taken photos of and posted it. I called in the order and the gentleman on the line was very pleasant and entertaining. My husband went to pick up the order and he said Hong Thai was a cute little free standing building. The husband and wife team were very busy but he was still very friendly when ringing up the order. My husband made sure to grab a menu on the way out. There were patrons waiting outside while he was getting our food. (Social distancing). Our surprise was when he got home with the food! Omg so much food and it was so delicious! Pad Thai was awesome with a spice level of 2, mango chicken curry and Curry puffs were to die for! They even added an order of spring rolls which was a pleasant surprise. Kong Thai, Seabrook NH is BY FAR the BEST Thai restaurant anywhere on the seacoast. The food is phenomenal--always fresh. The portions are large, and the prices are very reasonable. Everything we've tried is excellent. You can request your own personal level of Heat--from 1 Pepper (mild) to 5 Peppers (Showoff). 4 Peppers is considered 'authentic' Thai. The restaurant is very small and run by a husband & wife team. Mama (Kong) cooks, and Kem (Daddy) is the socialite who takes & serves the orders. At known busy days they have a friend come in to help. The quality of their food is SO good they have a LARGE following; so there can be a wait on holidays and weekend evenings. They are hard working & very friendly, and they recognize and take care of their regular customers. I can't say enough good about these people, and the food they serve. I was a bit hesitant to order from Kong Thai as the 2 times I drove by there were no cars in the parking lot. OMG, I am so glad I finally decided to give it a try. Having worked and lived in the Boston/Cambridge area for over 20 years I was having a hard time finding a pad thai as good as the ones in the city. Kong Thai is the winner! Their pad thai was delicious! AND...the owner was so nice and even added a free order of spring rolls! Did I mention their duck sauce? It's sweet with a little hint of spiciness...soooo good! It was a cross between regular duck sauce and Mambo sauce only found in the D.C. area. I highly recommend you give this place a try. read more
