I had two gum grafts (5/2017 and 2/2018) covering the area of four teeth each performed by Dr. Gromov and the experience far exceeded my expectations. I had endured intense cold temperature sensitivity in these areas and assumed it was just "sensitive teeth" and that the only recourse was things like Sensodyne and just learning to live with it. However, my main Dentist informed me it was due to gum recession...essentially there isn't enough gum tissue left to cover the base of the tooth where root is exposed, leading to my issue. He recommended this procedure and highly recommended Dr. Gromov as a specialist to perform it. I respect my main dentist, so I went right to Dr. Gromov. Clearly its an ominous sounding procedure, but with the numbing (which seems to be applied topically as I didn't feel a needle) all you really feel is some light to medium pressure during the process. There are some eating limitations for a couple days, but you are mostly back to normal after a short period of time which is a small price to pay compared to the years of improvement I will enjoy after getting this pain and sensitivity fixed. Even room temperature water or a cold salad had been painful in these areas. Now I can rinse with ice cold water and its pain-free. Not to mention it looks better and will keep the teeth, gums and bone healthy long-term. I felt so lucky that I found Dr. Gromov! His unique experience of being in general dentistry for 10 years and then getting 2 specialty degrees made him exceptionally qualified for performing dental implants. For my case, I also needed bone augmentation with sinus lift. I was delighted to find out that Dr. Gromov actually wrote a book on it! I knew I was in good hands after talking to him. We go back many years with Dr. Gromov. Back to when he was a Intern at Penn Dental in Philadelphia in 2011-2014 roughly. He first did a One Tooth Implant for my wife who said he was awesome. Then came me in 2020 roughly. I have made 4 trips to Chicago just to see Dr. Gromov. I needed full mouth implants and a sinus lift. In one week I will be returning for Lab Work so the New Teeth can be made and finalized. I will return again to Chicago in late May or early June to have the teeth put on the implants. My review is long overdue, but my experiences with Dr. Gromov have been nothing but positive! Dr. Gromov is great at what he does, and before I had my first dental implant, I didn't know what to expect. His demeanor and sense of humor really put me at ease. He made sure to explain everything he was doing during the procedure, and his assistant handled instructions for follow-up care. I ended up having a small issue with my second implant that required Dr. Gromov to remove some tissue from my gum, but again, the process was painless and the issue was successfully resolved. He didn't even charge me for the gum surgery. If you're scared to get dental implants because you don't know what to expect or are afraid of the pain, the process is better than getting a root canal. My husband and I recently had a fantastic experience at ImpalntWide in Schaumburg. The staff there were all incredibly friendly and helpful throughout my appointment. We were particularly impressed with Dr. Gromov, who successfully treated my husband's infection, which had developed around an implant that had been in place for several years. Thanks to his expertise, my husband was able to save a bridge that he had been worried he might lose. Additionally, Dr. Gromov used a special cleaning machine from Switzerland that left our teeth feeling incredibly clean and refreshed. Dr Gromov was really amazing. I was right at home talking with him about various subjects including his love of dogs which is my passion. This put me right at ease and before I knew it we were done with the procedure which was the first step of a single implant. I literally felt no pain at all. I have some challenging health concerns which worries me about invasive dental work but happily Dr Gromov was familiar with my issue and very understanding. Dr. Gromov and his caring and competent staff made what could have been an uncomfortable procedure (tissue graft) a minimal procedure. Both he and his assistant called me the night of my procedure to see how I was doing-it practically made me cry. I needed no pain medication (but I was prescribed some if needed.). Doctor Gromov performed my gum graft surgery in 2019 and I am writing this review 9 months later. I did not know anything about gum recession and was very scared while experiencing it. Dr. Gromov answered all of my questions and I was able to schedule my surgery very quickly with his office staff. His assistant was friendly and both of them were patient and upbeat during the procedure. They made me feel comfortable the entire time! This process in not a quick fix.
