Cupcakes are cupcakes these days. It seems that at every turn of the head, there's a cupcake shop. Not a bad thing. Reminds me of the 80's when Mrs. Field's cookies dominated (where have they gone?) and frozen yogurt shops were on every corner (they disappeared and now seem to be making low-end and high-end comebacks). We had a little sweet tooth going and wanted something cakey (okay - blame watching two back-to-back episodes of Cake Boss). We found Frostings through Yelp, downloaded a few coupons and dropped by. At $2.95 a cupcake, they are consistently priced with cupcakes in the USA. Quality comparable as well. Totaled, we got three different flavors: Chocoholic: Good chocolate flavor, but otherwise just a plain chocolate cupcake. Quite dry. Mint Chocolate Chip: Moist cake reminiscent of an Andes mint (in a good way). Frosting very sweet and overbearing of mint extract. Tropical Storm: My favorite! Banana cupcake studded with pineapple and covered with a coconut flavored frosting. The cake was dense, almost muffinlike, but moist. The frosting was not overly sweet. A very well balanced cupcake and one I'd certainly go back for. Wish we had enough time and belly space to try more flavors. If you're in a cupcake mood and in the area, it's a good fix. Located in a little strip mall on Fraser Hwy, access is easy, parking plentiful. Staff friendly and helpful. read more

On my way to Scoop-n-Save (the best baking store ever!) I saw the Frosting Cupcakery. As a avid cupcake eater, I had to try it out, even though it was only 11 in the morning, and I still haven't had breakfast yet. This place is very similar to the Cupcake store located in Vancouver. Very pink inside, friendly service and a great selection of deliciously prepared cupcakes. Cupcakes included red velvet cream cheese, lemon filled cake w/ butter cream, cookies and cream cupcake w/ oreo topping, watermelon flavored butter cream with vanilla cake etc.. just to name a few... The red velvet cake was a bit dry for my liking, but the watermelon one was perfectly moist and the design was so cute! Pricing is very similar to the Cupcake store as well.. aka expensive! Maybe because I'm a student on a budget or I actually bake cupcakes often and know how much everything costs.. anyhoo.. at .95 cents per mini cupcake and 2.85 for a large one, I would rather go to the cupcake store purely for the location and convenience. FYI: they rent cupcake stands too.. the pricing is awesome! For brides, $25 will get you a stand that can hold up to 68 medium size cupcakes or 140 mini ones. read more

I agree with most of the reviews. I've found some of the cakes to be dry. Its a little annoying to come in and find they have two small, sad little cupcakes sitting in their display case because they just make enough for the day and when they sell out your out of luck. A friend of mine has even arrived at the store with a large craving only to find they were totally out of cupcakes but the store was still open. I'm assuming to help the customers wanting to order large birthday cakes...but still...very annoying. The prices are alright, a little high in my opinion. I've tried their chocolate and their red velvet and they both are really good. I'm wondering if the dry ones i've tried have been old ..or if their display case is drying them out. Its a great place to take the kids and have a little party though, its always full of happy sugar filled people. read more

My mother in law took us here today, and I must say that we were both impressed! The prices here were great compared to similar shops in Edmonton, and I loved that they offer both mini and regular versions of the flavours. The icing was a real hot for me. In the root beer and watermelon in particular, the icing taste was just what we were expecting. A lot of the time, you get a cupcake with a fancy flavour name that doesn't cut it when you take a bite. These ones did. My favourite was the turtle, with the watermelon being a close second. We got a half dozen for dessert, and they didn't last very long. When we were picking them up, I ordered an iced hot chocolate, and it was delicious too. Creamy hot chocolate with ice cubes in it was just what I needed on this super hot day. Over all, these were some of the best cupcakes I've had. The cake itself was moist and true to flavour for each one, and the icing was creamy, smooth and not too heavy or sweet. I didn't feel like I needed to scrape half of it off. I will be back here the next time I'm in Langley. read more

I stumbled upon this place by accident. I heard so much about this place, however, never bothered to look it up in detail 'cause it was just too far away (was in the area for other things). The guy I am dating and I went in, however, they didn't have chocolate chip mint, the one flavor that he likes. They did have something manly enough for him like the mocha chocolate. Myself I had the pineapple, orange, raspberry one with frosting that looked like an ice cream scoop. Since there was nothing gluten free, I had to go with a mini to soften the blow of the gluten sickness. One tiny cupcake packed so much flavor. Unlike other cupcake places, they put flavor in both the batter and frosting. They go the extra mile and actually color the batter. That little effort goes a long way. Plus points since the frosting had the right amount of sweetness and wasn't a cavity assault. he prices were fair market. The lady at the til was really sweet and nice. I even bought a canucks candy for my date's cupcake as a just because present. read more

New owners as of January 2021. half the product in the case store bought the cupcakes not very appetizing very sad to see this hopefully they will hire the the old baker back perhaps their business will be better. I was given a 2 for the price of 1 coupon for Frostings so I figured I'd check out their website. Over 60 flavours to choose from!? Insane. I was so excited. I get there and walk up to the one display case....displaying maybe...12 flavours. Neither of the flavours I planned on getting were available. Of course. The young staff member wasn't rude. She just wasn't super friendly. I felt like I was inconveniencing her because, like the woman ahead of me, I didn't know what I wanted right away. Well fine, I guess it is awkward to just stand there and wait for people. I decided on turtle brownie and red velvet. So far I've only had the turtle brownie and it wasn't as described on the sign. There was no caramel filling nor caramel drizzle. It was essentially a brownie cupcake with a few broken pieces of pecan thrown on the top. It was good as far as brownies go... The other reviews seem to praise the red velvet so, wish me better luck. read more

So sad. I decided not to get a cake for my daughter's 19th. She loves frostings so we went right before dinner at 5 pm and picked up some full sized cupcakes. Much smaller selection than they used to have. Anyway...picked out our flavors and went home. Time to stick a candle in and the icing was crunchy on the outside...it actually broke. Fine...must be better inside...nope. each of the four flavors we chose were all extremely dry and did not have the intense flavors they used to have. So disappointed. They tasted like leftovers.... im not sure if they have taken on more than they can handle with the now huge selection of other things they have..or if buisness is bad and they dont go through as many cupcakes. So it was my first time inside the shop. For a cupcake/ coffee shop it was way to big. With the counter tucked away in the back it made the space to large for the a bakery. I bought a mini cupcake and a regular size. The prices are good. I gave the little cake to my niece. She ate the frosting and took one bit of the cake itself and spit it out. Not a good sign when I was about to eat mine. The frosting was way over sugared. It was as if I took a bunch of sugar cubes and stuffed it in my mouth. My teeth hurt. Took a bite out of the cake and it was dry. Not much flavour. Very disappointed. The shop had nobody in it. Drive by a lot and it never looks busy. I don't expect it to be around long. The fancy cupcake business is just a fad that is fading fast. I can make a more flavourful cupcake from a box. Save you money. read more

I love going to local bakeries, so I was excited to try out Frostings while in Langley today! I brought some mini cupcakes home, and ate a shortbread cookie at the bakery. The shortbread cookie was fabulous, but my husband and I were disappointed by the mini cupcakes. The cake itself was good but it was very obvious through the frosting that they use artificial flavoring (perhaps the LorAnn ones they sell in shop). The strawberry was especially artificial tasting. As someone who loves baking and makes a mean all natural strawberry Swiss meringue buttercream, I won't be returning to Frostings. read more

the cupcake shop looked like a cute place to pick up something sweet. my bf and i figured that since we have our entertainment books with us, and since we rarely ever travel to langley, we should use both of our coupons at the same time. when we went in, i saw that there were tables and chairs for people who want to eat their cupcakes at the shop. the selection of cupcakes was not large; there were perhaps about five different cupcakes on display. after we ordered, the lady who was helping us said we couldn't use two coupons because we came in together, even though we offered to separate our transactions. it created a slightly awkward moment for us, simply because it never happened before. anyhow, we had the red velvet with vanilla frosting. the cupcake was moist, the frosting was too sweet for my liking; overall, it was an average cupcake, nothing fancy. the price was the average for a cupcake ($2.95). the service was average. nothing really wow'd me enough for me to come back on a second visit. read more

I ordered a custom designed Betty Boop chocolate cake for my wife's birthday. The cake was nice and moist with a very good chocolate flavor. As for the appearance I emailed them a picture that they printed onto the cake and then they finished the rest of the cake with some hearts around the outside. We drove by this place all the time, and finally decided to go in to try their cupcakes. The place was huge or empty one shall say. It looked unfinished especially without a lot of customers. We got 1 mini and 5 regular sized cupcakes with different flavours. The red velvet was the best and then chocolate, slightly too sweet. The texture was right for these two, nice and moist. The vanilla was kind of dried. We didn't like any of their frosting, they all tasted either too sweet or artificial, ie. grape. We went in at the end of the day, so we understood the frosting would be a bit hard on the outside, but the inside was still creamy. read more
